If unpredictability and lack of recognition in showbiz saddens playback singer Kunal Ganjawala, growth and expansion of the industry gives him hope and happiness.

“I recorded a song for ‘Bol Bachchan’, but now it’s not going in the movie. They said it will be used in some other project,” Ghanjawala said.

“So, something that has to be used for ‘Bol Bachchan’ is now not being used in the movie… the work is so unpredictable. But I’m not bothered to ask about the song as they are my close friends,” he added. Directed by Rohit Shetty, ‘Bol Bachchan’ is coming out July 6.

“I also sang a song for Salim-Sulaiman for a Yash Raj Films’ project that featured John Abraham. Unfortunately, the film got shelved and the song is not being used anywhere,” he added.

Getting one’s due is another problem for singers, he said and added, “Normally, singers are not invited for the movie releases. Ironical as this may sound, everyone wants to see only the actor and actress… and this is understandable,” he said.

“We (singers) don’t go not because we don’t feel good enough to be there, but because we are not given the due respect,” added the singer who had participated in a singing reality show.

The singer’s latest offering is Har ghadi for debutante director Gitanjali Sinha’s ‘Yeh Khula Aasmaan’. Penned by Ravi Chopra and composed by Anand Milind, the song explains the meaning of life.

Kunal Ganjawala allegedly usurped parking lot of his Pali Hill society, abused residents and has been slapped with a BMC notice

Nazia Sayed (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 14, 2011)

The civic body has issued Bollywood singer Kunal Ganjawala a notice, asking him to prove the garage he allegedly built in the parking plot of his housing colony at Pali Hill was not illegal.

The civic body action came following months of bickering between Ganjawala and his neighbours at Girnar Apartments.

Things between them turned bitter to such an extent that residents filed a complaint against Ganjawala at Khar Police Station.

Neighbours have a long list of allegations against the singer. Apart from the alleged garage in the parking space which residents say remains locked on Ganjawala’s instructions, they say he illegally built an office on society premises.

Residents further allege Ganjawala gets abusive and prevents residents from using the building terrace.

One of the residents and committee member of Pali Hill Residents Association, Amarjeet Bhatti said, “Ganjawala is troubling the members since October last year.

On October 10, we sent him a polite letter requesting him to do away with the illegal garage and office he built on society land.

And this man misbehaved with the watchman who took the letter to him. He and his wife behave rudely with everyone in the society.”

During the last couple of years, there have been countless stories around Govinda and his superstitions that have made the rounds. Whether it is shooting with a hen or getting the dialogues changed at the last minute, there have been quite a few interesting anecdotes that have made headlines. Now add one more to the list.

Believe it or not but this time around, what got the axe were the lyrics of ‘Poorza Poorza‘, an item number picturised on Amrita Rao for Govinda’s Life Partner. The lyricist who had to bear the brunt? Kumaar, who has in the past has written for quite a few films coming from the house of Bhatts and is trying to establish himself in the industry.

Informs a source attached to Life Partner, “Govinda was unhappy with some of the words in ‘Poorza Poorza‘ which he believed came with a negative connotation. The original lyrics go as ‘Mare Hum, Jab Seene Se Dil Gaya, Hai Poorza Poorza Hil Gaya; Jab Poorza Poorza Hil Gaya, To Dum Sa Nikal Gaya‘. He had problems with ‘Mare Hum’, ‘Seene Se Dil Gaya’ & ‘Dum Sa Nikal Gaya‘. He felt that this was clear indication of death and wanted to avoid them as a part of the song by all means.”

It was a Code Red situation for the entire team of Life Partner, including composer Pritam, and the song had to be changed pronto.
