Beneath Bollywood’s glamour there lies a serious business that ETC Bollywood Business has been keeping an eye on for four years. Now, the trade show which aired previews, reviews, BO collections, celebrity chats, is being presented in a new format and with a new host — Komal Nahta. Mondays will be for Box Office collections of films released the previous Friday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for stories and debates with the who’s who of Bollywood; Thursdays for previews of films to be released the next day; and, on Fridays, Komal will review the films just released. From the original format, ETC Bollywood Business will retain industry chats on all days.

Anurag Bedi, Business Head, ETC, says of the change, “Since its inception, this has become a trusted and respected trade show. Now it’s time to take our commitment to the industry to the next level. The entertainment industry is today pegged at Rs 4,000 crores and is growing at a tremendous pace. Behind the glamour is a very serious business. It is time to educate our viewers about the same. The hard work of the creative, technical and business associates of the industry must be brought to the fore.”

Bollywood, too, has taken note of the change. Superstar Aamir Khan says, “Komal is one of our most reliable trade analysts. He has an outstanding understanding and knowledge of the film trade. He is the guy I call when I want figures. More often than not, he is right in his predictions. When your film doesn’t do well, he appears like Yamraj, and he is like your guardian angel when it’s a hit.” While Komal himself says of his association with ETC, “I truly believe that the audience must be made aware of the business of entertainment.” The new ETC Bollywood Business will air daily, starting today, at 8.30 pm on ETC.
