It’s an important week for Hrithik Roshan as his big film Guzaarish releases this Friday (Nov 19) but as luck would have it, Hrithik has fallen ill. The actor has been unwell for almost ten days now with high fever and body ache and it’s reported that he is suffering from malaria.
In spite of having high fever, Hrithik continued with the promotions of Guzaarish all of last week. He shot for a special episode of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in Mumbai, and then even travelled with co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for a promotional tour to Dubai and London. After his return to Mumbai, Hrithik even travelled to Ahmedabad on Saturday to promote his film, but crashed immediately after returning home.
Since then, Duggu has been feeling very weak and been on bed rest for most of the time. In fact Hrithik even cancelled his trip to Kolkata for the promotions, as there was no way he could travel in this condition.
We hope the actor is back to being his fittest very soon and wish him a speedy recovery.
The producers of Guzaarish had to re-book flights to accommodate her security guards, as per family rules
Stardom indeed comes with a lot of excess baggage, if Ash’s latest rules are anything to go by.
When travelling back to Mumbai from the Kolkata press conference of Guzaarish, Rai insisted that she travel back with her security guards, as per a diktat by the Bachchans
Our source said, “The press conference was held at a mall in Kolkata. While most of the people stayed back, Ash was scheduled to return to Mumbai on Sunday evening itself.
However the flights were full and although she managed to get business class tickets, all tickets for the economy class were full, resulting in no tickets for her two security guards.
Ash was insistent though that she can’t travel anywhere without her security guards and that this is a rule set by her family. So, the producers of the film, UTV and SLB Films, had no option but to change the flight for her. They managed to get a ticket for one of her security guards.
Only after this did Aishwarya agree to go.” Wonder what happened to the other security guard. Dum Dum Airport can get stuffy.
Another source said, “Ash is a very professional actor and this was a stipulation which she has been following from a long time. She requested that the producers and the marketing team understand her concern and book tickets on a different flight. Any star that travels anywhere always has security guards around her.”
Aishwarya Rai’s spokesperson said, “Yes, our flight had to be changed to a later flight as our security was not booked on the same flight as us. Also, on taking a later flight, only one of our security guards was accommodated on that later flight. The assistance of the airlines and airport security was quite amazing.” On your marks, jet set, go!

It was a near-calamitous Diwali for Anurag Basu. His little daughter suffered a finger injury, his wife fractured her leg and Anurag is under the weather too.
Not a very happy Diwali for this super-gifted filmmaker, who friends claim, has gone underground.
To that Anurag laughs heartily, “Yes, I’ve been hearing rumours about myself. That I’ve migrated to Kolkata. That I’m making Bengali films. Ha ha! Just because I did a celebrity chat show on Bangla TV. I suppose that’s where the rumours started. I did that chat show because it was earlier hosted by Saurav Ganguly.”
Far from moving away from Hindi cinema after the debacle of Kites, Anurag is all set to direct three Hindi feature films in 2011.
Elaborates Anurag, “I was supposed to do two films Silence with Ranbir and Priyanka Chopra, and the film on Kishore Kumar in 2011. Silence would’ve happened in 2010. It got pushed ahead because Imtiaz Ali’s film Rock Star with Ranbir got delayed. Now between Silence and my Kishore Kumar bio-pic, I am directing a third film. The details are now being worked out.”
As for rumours of Anurag “returning” to television, the director of the neo-classics Gangster and Life… In A Metro says, “I started on television. I never left the medium. We’re now producing a serial loosely based Life… In A Metro. We’ve tentatively titled it Dil Khudgarz Hai.”
Anurag hoped to name the serial Metro. But the title belongs to UTV.
Anurag says it’s impossible to make a sequel to Life… In A Metro.” When we made the film, the concept and the treatment were novel. But now so many films have been made on the same theme. Besides I’ve many new subjects for films. Why return to what I’ve already done.”
Silence with Ranbir and Priyanka is to start shooting in January. The second leading lady is still to be finalized.
Anurag hopes to get the actress in place this month.

Vidya Balan was in Kolkata when her bare-backed boldest photo-shoot ever made news. People associated with her forthcoming film The Dirty Picture based on the life of Silk Smitha were busy trying to plug the pictures as part of the actress preparation for the role of the sleaze queen of the 1970s.
Vidya laughs off these rumours, “Nothing of the sort. The bare-backed pictures just happened. Just because these pictures are, as you say, provocative and Silk Smita was a provocative character, it doesn’t mean the two are related. At the moment, I am not giving a thought to anything except Sujoy’s film Kahani. I can’t afford to think of any other film right now. I’ll sit down for discussions on The Dirty Picture after I finish shooting Kahani and promote No One Killed Jessica.”
For Jessica, plans to include the slain girl’s sister Sabrina Lal (the character that Vidya plays) in the film were dropped. “I think we needed to respect her privacy after what she has gone through,” says Vidya.
Vidya says she did the bare-backed cover for a magazine because she wanted to bring out the sensuous side of the saree. “They had never done an Indian cover before. And they said I was the best person to do an Indian cover. I always believe the saree to be the most sensuous apparel. I think I was born to wear the saree. And I was shooting with a photographer I could trust blindly. I always try to surprise myself. It’s not about creating an impact. We did the whole shoot in just one costume with no hair or makeup change.”
Exhausted from shooting one film by day and dubbing for another by night, Balan finally broke down on the sets
Shooting all day in sweaty crowded outdoor location for one film and dubbing for another film has taken its toll on Vidya Balan’s health. After Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan has suffered a health setback caused by acute overwork. The actress suffered from nervous exhaustion in Kolkata, where she is working on Sujoy Ghosh’s film.
The incident happened earlier this week when the actress was burning the midnight oil for over a month shooting during day-time for one film and dubbing another. Suddenly in the middle of shooting, Vidya burst into tears and loud wracking sobs. A stunned silence followed. The unit was naturally shocked since there was outwardly no provocation.
Says Vidya, “Yes, it happened a few days ago and it scared the hell out of me and everyone in the unit. I am not prone to tantrums or outbursts.
I don’t know what happened to me. I just broke down. It was work pressure. In the past three months I didn’t have a day’s respite. It was crazy. I was shooting all day for Sujoy’s film in Kolkata.
Then director Rajkumar Gupta’s people had flown to Kolkata for my dubbing of No One Killed Jessica because that is releasing on January 7. So I was dubbing in the night. It was tough schedule. I guess I overdid it.
My breakdown was as much a shock to me as it was for them. I don’t know what happened. I’ve been shooting in Kolkata for a month and I’ve to shoot for another month.
Kolkata is my favourite city. I am seeing it like never before. This is my third full-fledged film in Kolkata. Much as I love the city I do miss my home and family in Mumbai.” Take it easy, gal.
If crowd reaction was anything to go by, this round certainly belonged to Brat Khan
Saturday night saw the two potent forces of Bollywood collide on the ramp of the couture week — beauty and Salman Khan. Naturally it was to be a robust evening.
Plastic whistles were put on each seat to welcome the guests and they were used most enthusiastically. The actor’s show for his Being Human Foundation travelled the decades of the last century, starting from 1920.
While the clothes and sound production were flawed, Salman-giri (or was it show-giri?) certainly wasn’t. Each segment began with a short dance routine to set the tone of the era.
Here are the best moments of the evening.
Sallu brought the house down accompanied by Sanjay Mandal’s band from Kolkata, who produce music out of waste materials. Pity, the flawed sound system dented the spirits.
1. Pretty flawed: Though Preity opened the show to bring in the swinging ’20s, the clothes let the mood down. A ra-ra skirt and derby hat do not belong in the Jazz era.
2. A plaintive tune: Karisma Kapoor represented the singing ’60s. With bouffant, a tightly wrapped diaphanous saree and thumke-wale adaas, Karisma looked lovelier than ever.
3. Disco Sen: Sushmita Sen is the worthy heir apparent to the divas of the ’70s - Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman. She had fun on the ramp, all the while engaging in a one-sided conversation with the audience. The audience couldn’t have enough, and the star returned with daughter Renee.
Actress not signing any movie till next Sept
Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; October 10, 2010)
This year is certainly bringing acclaimed character actor Konkona SenSharma double joy as she first tied the knot with Ranvir Shorey and now BT has learned that she is expecting her first child with him. It is because she is pregnant that Konkona has decided not to sign any new film till September next year. A close friend of the actor reveals, “Koko wants to keep her pregnancy under wraps. She has signed a movie but spoke to her producers and told them that cannot shoot. She wants to take proper care during her pregnancy and avoid doing anything that stresses her body. Her producers allowed her to terminate the contract. She has been staying a lot in Kolkata and has been travelling abroad too. Since this is early stages of her pregnancy, the bump isn’t very visible and Koko wants to keep this news a secret for as long as she can.”
Ranvir, though reportedly over the moon with this development, chose to remain mum when BT asked him about the couple’s good news.
Living up to her name, Vidya Balan gave her producers Balaji Telefilms, a lesson on how she may and may not be portrayed as Silk Smitha, in Dirty Picture
Days after we reported that Vidya Balan was to undergo rigorous training to play Silk Smitha in Milan Luthria’s biopic Dirty Picture, the actress is seemingly nervous.
Ekta Kapoor, head honcho of Balaji Telefilms, is producing the film. And Vidya, who flew to Kolkata last week to shoot for Sujoy Ghosh film (untitled), had to sort things out with Ekta. So, hours before boarding the flight, she called for a meeting with her producers. It turned out to be a long one
Vidya had a fixed agenda for the meeting, we’re told; it was to lay down some ground rules for her portrayal as Silk Smitha in Luthria’s film. And the actress put them across in her own sweet way but she was forthright about it. The following were Vidya’s conditions:
• That there be no clear display of heaving breasts in songs
• That going backless is fine but she would not encourage frontal exposure
• That there be no camera close-ups of any of her assets
• That she is not made to wear outfits that may be explicitly exposing parts of her body.
Interestingly, Ekta Kapoor, who is otherwise considered to be quite a hard taskmaster, accepted all of Vidya’s rules.
Moreover, Vidya apparently had some rules on the way she will be choreographed in the film as well. Says a source, “Vidya told them that the movements in songs could be suggestive, not vulgar.”
As a result of this, two choreographers will now plan out all her moves in the film. One will be brought from the South film industry, while the other will be from Mumbai.
And guess what? The source adds, “The choreographers too will be chosen only after Vidya has been consulted about them.”
While the producers were a tad surprised at the whole list of do’s and don’ts, apparently they saw it coming. Adds the source, “Ekta and Milan will create a representation of Silk Smitha’s character, without shades of sleaze. Vidya’s final look will still be a shocker.”
So we hope.
But one thing’s for sure. The actress, who had recently said to a section of the media, “I have never defined my boundaries, roles or films as an actor,” is not always up to practising what she preaches.
Amisha Patel’s luggage was thrown around at the airport en route to Kolkata. She has filed a complaint
Amisha Patel’s jaunt to Kolkata for a professional commitment yesterday morning turned out to be her worst nightmare. Amisha was allegedly mistreated by airport security staff, leaving her indignant. She has now written a formal letter to the head of the security staff at the airport complaining about the same.
An eye witness said, “Amisha was at the security check around seven in the morning when she had an altercation with a woman at the security check. Amisha was polite but the lady was extremely rude; when Amisha asked for a tray to place her bag in, the lady threw her bag. Amisha told her that the least she could do is smile and be polite. However the lady was in a grumpy mood and gave Amisha a piece of her mind.
Amisha was so annoyed that she went to speak to the head of the security staff. Here she was given an explanation that the lady had been working night shifts and was thus grumpy.
When Amisha requested that the least she could have done was to be polite, she was told that the security staff has an army background and so they are rude.
Amisha insisted that she would complain against the lady who was rude to her and wrote about this incident and gave it to the security guard.”
The eye witness further wrote, “Amisha was seen talking to the officials of the airline which she was traveling with and they also voiced her opinion that the security staff was extremely rude. Amisha though expressed her doubts if the letter would do any good.”
When contacted Amisha Patel said, “I don’t wish to comment on the incident.”
An unwelcome remark by a contestant on Aishwarya Rai had Salman Khan completely stumped. But he covered up just in time
If Katrina Kaif crying over him weren’t enough, Salman recently had another, rather uncomfortable tryst with his past. The incident made it very clear that though Salman might have had his share of relationships, his affair with Aishwarya Rai is still the most talked about.
Recently, Salman went as a special guest to the sets of a reality show and complimented one of the contestants on singing very well. In return however, the contestant said something that made the actor squirm.
Our source from the sets said, “It was a Salman Khan special episode. Shreyasi, a Kolkata-based singer, sang the title track of Hum Dil Chuke Sanam quite well. After her performance she spoke her heart out to Salman, saying that she loved the movie and had watched it many times.
|Salman Khan and Shreyasi|
However, while talking, she got carried away and said, ‘I felt very bad and helpless with the way Aishwarya left you heartbroken in the end. Had I been in her shoes, I would have given up everything and married you.”
Salman apparently didn’t know how to react. But, like a true gentleman, he gathered his composure, got a mischievous grin on his face, looked up at the control room and said, “Is channel ko aapne aaj promo de diya hai”. The impromptu comment had the audience in splits and the compere changed the topic soon after to help ease the situation for the actor.
When contacted, Ashish Golwalkar, non fiction head of the channel, confirmed the incident and said, “Shreyasi is a talented singer on the show and is probably around 19 or 20 years old. She performed very well. Salman loved Shreyasi’s performance but she got carried away after the song and spoke to Salman about Aishwarya.
We were all stunned and so was Salman. But he handled it well and made light of the moment by saying that by making a comment like that one, she had given the channel a promo it may play up in future.”
