The Raja Hindustani girl wants to end her marriage with industrialist Sunjay Kapur

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 09, 2010)

A few days ago, a section of the media reported that Karisma and Sunjay Kapur’s marriage is on the rocks, again. The latest is that Karisma will be filing for divorce rather soon.

Randhir and Babita’s eldest daughter, Karisma, is contemplating divorce after irreconcialable differences with her hubby, something that has caused a quasi-separation between the couple already. A source says, “If she has not yet filed it yet, it would be any moment now.”

After long deliberation, Karisma has come to the conclusion that she can’t be with Sunjay anymore.

She is in no mood to take him back. It is a matter of time before lawyers are appointed to do the needful, if this hasn’t happened already, a source informs us.

Adds the source, “The time has come for Karisma to emerge from a bad marriage. She is terribly distraught and very stressed. She has virtually become a loner.”

To cheer her up, friends even dragged her to a fashion show held in October this year, hoping she’d let her hair down. But suddenly the media entered the party enclave.

Seeing this Karisma ran away from the party. “She feared that someone or the other would ask her about her marriage and she wouldn’t be able to hide it,” says the source.

Salman Khan dishes out B’wood’s best on the ramp

Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; October 11, 2010)

Salman Khan’s Being Human show at the HDIL India Couture Week 2010 on Saturday night was a feast for the eyes as the superstar dished out eight oomphy ladies of Tinseltown — including the top three actresses of today, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra — on the runway. Kareena and Priyanka were seen holding hands when they came for the curtain call with Salman and thus managed to dispel the gossip of any sort of animosity. The others to sashay down the ramp were Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Bipasha Basu, Karisma Kapur and Sushmita Sen as Salman decoded fashion from 1920s to present times in a grand musical-like choreography.

High on oomph quotient, the show only showcased eight ensembles but the drama — the provocative dancing and the extravagant opulent props, made sure that everybody was dazzled. In Dabangg style Sallu had distributed whistles to everyone giving them virtually the licence to express their excitement when the leading ladies soared temperature on the catwalk.

Preity opened the show strutting in a sexy black dress — a provocateur that certainly made the audiences get going about the 1920s. The embodiment of 30s More >

Kareena Kapoor has not only bought herself an S-Class Mercedes Benz but is also gifting a luxury car to her sister Karisma Kapur in celebration of her soon-to-be-born baby By Meena Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 06, 2010)

After all the hard work, Kareena Kapoor believes in indulging herself. One hears that she has recently ordered an S-Class Mercedes Benz worth Rs 75 lakh for herself. The luxury car will be delivered to her doorstep next week.

And while Kareena believes in gifting herself, she also loves pampering her family members. News has it that she will also be gifting a Mercedes to her elder sister, Karisma Kapur, who is due to deliver her second child any day now. The car will be Kareena’s gift to her didi for the soon-to-be-born baby.

Kareena admitted that she has been looking at the various new swanky models of luxury cars in the market but she wasn’t too keen to divulge any details on her new purchase. All Kareena said was, “I’ve wanted a new car for a while.”

It was also being suggested that Kareena would get herself the BMW-7 series.  In fact, some reports even said that Saif Ali Khan was presenting her a new car, which of course is not the case. At least not currently.

There are also reports that Saif was toying with the idea of buying a Mercedes Benz sports convertible worth Rs 2 crore for himself.  However, his plans are said to be on hold for the moment.

Kareena Kapoor reveals her size zero secrets…

MEENA IYER (BOMBAY TIMES; February 24, 2010)

If there is one aspect of Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor’s life that rates higher on the gossip charts than her relationship with the Junior Nawab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan, it is her size-zero measurement. Kareena got into shape under the guidance of dietician Rujuta Diwekar when she had to wear that bikini for Tashan (a film where she also bonded big time with Saif). In Kambakkht Ishq, Bebo once again tantalised the audience when she walked around in a black swimming costume. And each time she shows off her body-shape, she manages to add a few hundred fans to the already existing long list of people who think Bebo has the hottest figure in the business. But surprise, surprise, Bebo hasn’t starved to get this enviable figure. Says she, “People often wonder whether I eat an orange for lunch. But that isn’t the case. I eat pasta, pizzas, french fries and even chocolates on occasions. However, I have been taught by my dietician how to eat right. I control the quantities, do upto 40 surya namaskars and stay this way.” Kareena who leans towards spirituality rather than religion is vegetarian for the last five years of her life. However, she is not an advocate for vegetarianism. “To each his own,” says the reigning Bollywood queen, “Saif can eat a goat for lunch and dinner, and I sit right next to him at the table. I More >

Karisma Kapur is second time pregnant

YUMMY MUMMY: Karisma KapurKarisma Kapur, well into her second pregnancy, is still a Bollywood stunner

SHARIN WADER BUTANI Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; February 23, 2010)

At 36, with her second baby well on the way, Karisma Kapur could still stop the traffic! The demands of marriage and the tugs of motherhood have not so much as dented the former Bollywood hottie’s stunning good looks. This is how she is today, in an advanced stage of pregnancy. BT caught her along with mother Babita, sis Kareena and broin-law-in-waiting Saif Ali Khan at a party thrown by the Kapoor khandaan’s old family physician in Mumbai. Karisma, dressed in a white Anarkali salwar-kameez  that showed off her cute baby bump, looked like a school-girl with clipped-up hair, pink cheeks and rosy lips. That’s what the chill of Delhi does to her. “I enjoy the hustle and bustle of Mumbai and the calm and lovely winters of Delhi,” she breezily said. Which doesn’t mean she is on a socialising spree in this state. No, Karisma made the trip to Mumbai to be with Kareena who has time on her hands. Her six-year-old daughter Samaira is Kareena’s biggest fan. And every trip Karisma makes to Mumbai, Samaira goes home having learned some new Bollywood dance step from her aunt. Meanwhile, Bollywood hasn’t seen Karisma in action on screen since Shakti in 2002. She did the odd television show, of course, but what fans are really looking forward to is a full-length masala film More >

Big stars! What about TRPs?

IN TELLYLAND: Shah Rukh Khan, AkshayKumar and (top) Rani Mukerji with guest Shahid Kapoor, Salman Khan and Karisma Kapur on their TV shows

How worthwhile has it been for channels putting Bollywood stars on TV?

ROSHNI K OLIVERA Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; January 4, 2010)

Abhishek Bachchan is stepping into his father’s shoes by hosting a game show on TV. What prompted Bachchan Jr. to give a nod to the small screen? Was it a lucrative offer? Perhaps, because it’s money that draws film stars to television. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Rani Mukerji, Karisma Kapur… the list is endless of Bollywood stars who made the big crossover.

Akshay, reports said, was paid a whopping Rs 2.5 crore per episode to host the second season of Khatron ke Khiladi. And Salman Khan was apparently given Rs 89 crore for the first season of Dus Ka Dum! It’s big money all right for the stars, but is it worthwhile for the channels to shell out such big bucks for the star value?

Statistics prove that shows with Bollywood stars have never topped the overall Television Rating Points (TRP) charts. Only Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati, that changed the face of Indian television years ago, saw TRP success. All other shows hosted or judged by stars have raked in average or dismal TRPs. Yes, there is a fair amount of curiosity and people are bound to watch the show at least once for the star’s sake, but after that it’s content that sells. Meanwhile, TV actors are unhappy More >

TV’S SIZZLING AND HOW: Rani Mukerji, Amrita Rao, Eesha Koppikhar, Genelia D’Souza andPreity Zinta.  Yes, for several actresses now… who enjoy the mass reach and moolah!

AAKANKSHA NAVAL-SHETYE Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; October 28, 2009)

Bollywood may be big, but Tellywood’s small screen is proving to be a bigger lure for our B-town actors and actresses. After a string of Bollymen — right from Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan — gave in to the temptation and showed their dum on television, it’s now the turn of the actresses to hog the telly-limelights. Years back, Karisma Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Raveena Tandon and Manisha Koirala set the trend because they were not exactly hot property at the BO. Now the new brigade is jumping on the TV bandwagon also because of the draw of the mass reach and the moolah. So, while Rani Mukerji is judging a reality dance show Dance Premiere League, Amrita Rao is a celebrity panelist on a reality matchmaking show The Perfect Bride. Not too long ago, Kajol alongwith mum Tanuja and hubby Ajay Devgn had turned judge for a family show Rock N Roll Family, as had Sonali Bendre for Indian Idol, while Soha Ali Khan is hosting a game show Khelo, Jeeto, Jeeyo. Urmila Matondkar, too, had created quite a stir with Jhalak Dikhla Jaa and Waar Parivaar, while Shilpa Shetty wowed viewers with Bigg Boss. Eesha Koppikhar’s wrestling with her reality show 100 Percent De Dhana Dhan and now Genelia too is set to join the fray More >
