Kareena Kapoor Khan has been approached by Zoya Akhtar for her next film, which revolves around a brother-sister relationship. Ranveer Singh has been finalised to play the role of the brother.
Says a source, “On Sunday night, Zoya gave a three-hour narration to the actress at her Bandra home. The role is to die for and Kareena is extremely excited about it. Even her sister Karisma loved it, and is urging her to say yes. The film belongs to the leading lady and Bebo has been wanting to sink her teeth into a performance-based role for sometime now. She wants to be challenged as an actress. Another big incentive to do this film are the new energies. Bebo has never worked with Zoya before, except for the cameo in Luck By Chance. She likes the director’s past films and her sensibilities, so is trying to work her dates and somehow fit this film into her schedule.
Date crunch Kareena is facing a date crunch with the number of films she has lined up in 2013-14. Currently she is shooting for Punit Malhotra’s Gori Tere Pyar Mein with Imran Khan, after which she will start shooting for Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor’s joint production with Emraan Hashmi. When that wraps up, she will begin shooting for Shuddhi with Hrithik Roshan, produced by Karan Johar. Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor always ran neck-and-neck for the number one position. Both vied for the same roles, same endorsements, wooed the same actors onscreen, and were on the wishlist of the same producers. Kareena always had an edge over her rival because along with being a pretty face, she has some solid performances behind her. (Chameli, Omkara). Katrina, who has always relied on her looks, more than made-up for the lack of talent with her hard work. The ‘lucky’ tag helped. Most heroes consider Kat lucky because she has had more ‘hits’ at the box-office than misses.
Until the beginning of last year, Bebo had a clear advantage because she had worked with SRK and Aamir Khan. But then Katrina landed Jab Tak Hain Jaan with Shah Rukh Khan and then came the announcement of her signing Dhoom 3 with Aamir. The field was leveled. Later in the year, Kareena tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan and there was a definite shift in Kat’s favour. Producers worry when an actress of a certain age gets married then comes the pressure to start a family. Producers are worried that the ‘heroine’ (pun intended) will get pregnant and their films will get stalled. No one wants to take the risk when big money is at stake. Put three lovely ladies together in an airport lounge, and you are most likely to get frosty vibes, right? Well Karisma Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and Juhi Chawla turned out to be a pleasant exception when they bumped into each other on their way to Dubai. Though they were all headed for the same function, the flight schedule and the meeting in the VIP lounge was unplanned. According to a star-struck co-passenger, the three actresses greeted each other warmly and struck up a conversation that quickly moved from pleasantries to a more engaging exchange of notes.
Rani, who was the first to reach the lounge, lit up when Juhi walked in. “She flashed her famous smile and hugged Juhi and Karisma as well. The three then settled down to chat while they waited to board the aircraft.” said the eye witness.
So what was all the banter about? We believe Karisma spoke animatedly about her frequent trips to Dubai with her kids. In fact, she even suggested that Rani take her niece there. Rani on the other hand, cheerfully reminded Juhi of the day she had visited the sets of Love Love Love – gosh that does seem like ancient history! After almost a decade, Karisma Kapoor performed at an event, the Zee Cine Awards. She grooved to her popular number Le Gayi Le Gayi with Shah Rukh Khan, for which she received a lot of compliments. “I did it purely for emotional reasons. It was a tribute to Yashji (Yash Chopra) and I had to be a part of it. Shah Rukh and I decided to recreate the song exactly the way we had done in Dil Toh Pagal Hai. It was wonderful and a nostalgic experience. Shah Rukh is as energetic as ever,” she gushes. Karisma seems to be in no rush to sign films. “I have heard a few scripts but haven’t decided yet. Probably by the middle of this year I will sign a film. After all, it’s a big responsibility,” says the actress, who made a comeback last year with Dangerous Isshq.
The film did not do well but Karisma has no regrets. “I have been in this line for many years to let these things affect me. Moreover, one can never predict the fate of a film,” she had said in an earlier interview adding that this is a great time for senior actresses.“We are in a position to exercise our choice, irrespective of the box-office, which is a great progression.” Incidentally, the last film she saw was Sridevi’s comeback flick English Vinglish and “loved it”.

The popular saying goes: let the sleeping dogs lie. But looks like an upcoming awards gala in Dubai could send tongues wagging yet again! According to sources, there is a high probability that Karisma Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan could come face to face while accepting their respective trophies at the event.
Given their connection to Abhishek Bachchan, sources indicate that sparks could fly when the whole world is watching. An industry insider says, “Things will definitely heat up at the awards ceremony in March. They both will be receiving awards for their achievements in Bollywood.” In fact, there is a high chance that Lolo and Ash will have to share their award with each other.
Our source adds, “Ever since Ash got married to Karisma’s ex Abhishek, they have avoided each other in public. Karisma Kapoor who featured in Yash Chopra’s ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ will pay a special tribute to the late filmmaker at an awards event

Karisma Kapoor is paying a special tribute to the late filmmaker Yash Chopra. The actress had featured in the late filmmaker’s 1997 film ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ with Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Lolo had even bagged the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film.
Says a source, “Karisma is slated to attend an awards event on November 25 in Dubai where she will perform a tribute to Chopra in a musical extravaganza.”
The awards that honours Bollywood besides the leading lights of the Asian community in Dubai has the actress as the stellar attraction.
Adds the source, “Lolo has not performed for a while. She will be seen on stage after a long hiatus. The event folks have lined up a glitzy and glam event. Designer Manish Malhotra will be performing a tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema as well. It will have several other B-Town folk as well in attendance.”
After her comeback in Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishhq, Karisma does not seem to be keen to pick up another film. She seems content endorsing products and attending events. She was recently seen at the launch of a luxury car along with sister Kareena. That apart there has always been intermittent buzz about her personal life but she has always been tightlipped on that front.

Karisma Kapoor visited the sets of Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 where her sister Kareena was shooting for an item number. Reason? Bebo is sporting an identical costume of a satin kurti and lungi which Karisma wore for her Sarkai Lo Khatiya track with Govinda in Raja Babu in 1994.
As Kareena had not worn such an outfit before in any of her films, big sis Lolo was at hand with tips. A source from the sets says, “Karisma spent five hours on the sets on both the days of the shoot at Mehboob Studios. She even checked out how Kareena performed in the item number.” Let’s see how hot Bebo looks in the track after her big sister’s inputs.

Much has been written about Kareena Kapoor’s item song Fevicol in Dabangg 2. The latest is that Karisma Kapoor visited the sets to check out how her sister looks in the outfit – the long shirt and lungi – that she had worn in her film Raja Babu for the song Sarkai Lo Khatiya nearly 20 years ago. She may be a glamourous heroine to the world but for Karisma, she is only her little sister.
Naturally, she was curious to find out how Bebo would look in an outfit she had worn. It’s probably the first time that something like this is happening in the industry – an actor replicating an outfit worn by a sibling in a film! Govinda is a changed man. He has become fitness-savvy, thanks to son Yashvardhan. He has bid farewell to politics and plans to solely focus on movies. Govinda talks to us about his 30-kilo weight loss, ‘alleged’ tiff with Salman Khan, launching daughter Narmmadaa and making a comeback.
What triggered your weight loss? I realized that it’s important to make a comeback in movies. Physical fitness is extremely important for an actor. My son Yashvardhan inspired me a lot. I jog and gym with him. He doesn’t push me, he shows me the way. I have lost 30 kgs. I have a 32-inch waist now. I am aiming for 28! After I stopped doing action films in 1994, I started gaining weight.
How did you lose 30 kg? Yoga helped a lot. I don’t have dinner. Instead, I have a wholesome lunch. I munch on fruits throughout the day and exercise for three hours daily. I go for a run on the beach in the morning for 45 minutes, followed by yoga and meditation. In the evening, I do weight-training. I am a firm believer of Ayurveda, too.
Which Bollywood actor has the best physique? I am a Dharamji fan. Salman Khan and John Abraham are also good, but Salman’s workout style doesn’t suit me.

Stars dazzled at the actor’s residence for a surprise 48th b’day party, though the electricity gave up midway

Chunkey Pandey celebrated his 48th birthday bash with his friends from the industry on Tuesday night. And when we called him up the next day, he finally answered at 5.55 pm and said, “Good morning, I have just got up.” The birthday boy hadn’t recovered from the night’s revelries. After all, Mirror found out that the bash went on till five in the morning. Hosted by his wife Bhavna, Chunkey’s birthday was a star-studded affair indeed. One of the first few people to arrive was Farah Khan. And then by midnight, A-list actors and filmmakers from the industry started pouring in. “Chunkey had no clue about this surprise party. He took his wife out for dinner at a suburban hotel that evening. After they came back home, he realised that something was afoot. And then the guests started pouring in. Saif to launch Kareena’s cousin Armaan Jain?

Saif Ali Khan’s production company will launch Kareena Kapoor’s cousin Armaan Jain, who is in his early 20s, in their next film. Armaan is the son of Reema and Manoj Jain. Reema is Randhir Kapoor’s youngest sister who lives in South Mumbai. She is very close to her nieces Karisma and Kareena.
Armaan has been an assistant director on Shakun Batra’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and has often been spotted hanging around his cousin Bebo on the sets of the film.
One always knew that Armaan would step in front of the camera once he had finished his stint as AD; but it comes as a pleasant surprise to know that this youngster is being launched by none other than Saif.
Another valuable piece of information one gathered is that Athiya, Suniel Shetty’s daughter, who studied in a film school in the US was being considered for a lead role in a film by Saif ’s office. No official confirmations are available on this because the casting process is still underway.
