Chaya Unnikrishnan (DNA; February 4, 2013)
Amit Trivedi who has composed hit numbers for films like English Vinglish, Ishaqzaade and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu to name a few, has been roped in to score the music for Kangna Ranaut’s Queen. The original plan was to record six-seven songs but Amit has ended up scoring 11 songs, all to be picturised on Kangna. The film is about a Delhi-based girl who takes off to Europe on her honeymoon alone when her marriage falls through. The film has been shot in Delhi and Europe.
Amit had gone along with the cast and crew to Amsterdam for the shoot. A source says that initially Amit was a little nervous but eventually he got along well with the locales and discovered various kinds of interesting music which people of Amsterdam listen to the most. So inspired was he with the music that he went on to create 11 songs. When director Vikas Bahl learnt about it and listened to the songs, he was so impressed that he decided to include all the tracks in the film. Says Vikas, “Amit has done a fantastic job with this album. He is one of the most talented composers in our industry.”
Mohit Suri gets married to Udita Goswami
0Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 30, 2013)
Filmmaker Mohit Suri (of Woh Lamhe and Murder 2 fame) finally tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, actress Udita Goswami at Juhu’s ISKCON temple on Tuesday.
The duo fell in love at the launch party of the film Zeher in Goa way back in 2005 and has survived many break-ups.
While Udita’s parents came from Nepal to attend the wedding, Mohit’s uncles Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt , sister Smiley Suri and cousins Vishesh Bhatt, Emran Hashmi were also there to bless the couple.
The guest list included Dia Mirza, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tanushree Dutta, Kangna Ranaut, Ken Ghosh, Shaad Randhawa, Suneel Darshan, Ramesh Taurani, Tanuj Garg, Rohit Roy, Anurag Basu, Shraddha Kapoor, Kunal Deshmukh and Vishal Mahadkar among others.
It was a traditional Indian wedding with the blushing bride dressed in a red lehenga and the groom looking dapper in a white kurta-pyjama with a black jacket. However, Mohit was heard complaining about the ‘uncomfortable’ pink turban and wished the grooms were saved from such ‘tortures’, but all in good humour. The platter was an elaborate but vegetarian one. After the rituals, the guests moved to a popular subarban night club. Earlier the Mehendi ceremony was held at Mohit’s sister Smiley’s residence on Monday. The reception will be held at the Mahalakshmi Race Course on January 31.
Queen’s crewmembers told to give written test to shoot at Paris station
0Shakti Shetty (MID-DAY; January 15, 2013)
These were quite the testing times for the unit folks of Kangna Ranaut’s upcoming film, Queen. The film’s crew wanted to shoot at a railway station in Paris. The entire team including director Vikas Bahl was asked to take a test in order to be granted permissions to shoot at the location.
A source says, “ For the preparation of the written exam, the crew had to memorise around 40 pages of rules and regulations which are followed at the railway station. All this had to be done to get the needed permission from the railway authorities. Needless to add, it was a task for the complete team. However, they come out with flying colours.” The spokesperson for the unit confirms this amusing episode and states, “ The rules required all of us to memorise from a very heavy book!”
UP, UP AND AWAY…
It seems the permissions saga continued for Vikas and his team. They faced similar problems at New Delhi too where they were required to shoot at the airport.
The unit reached a roadblock when they were denied permission to shoot at the airport due to security reasons. Thanks to Bahl and Kangna’s record as National Award winners, it helped them get the permissions. The shoot took place more than a week back.” A source from the unit says, “ A very important scene had to be picturised at the airport. Vikas is known for his authenticity and was not keen to have the scene shot on a set and he was worried. However, when the authorities learnt that the More >
Sanjay-Kangna-Karan to move into new homes this year
0BOMBAY TIMES (January 12, 2013)
This year will see a lot of Bollywood celebrities moving in and out of their current homes and into new residences. Kangana Ranaut who lives in a three-bedroom apartment in Santacruz is shifting into a duplex in a more upscale location between Bandra and Khar. It is said that the actress has bought the new home because her parents and her younger brother will spend more time with her in Mumbai. The idea is to dedicate one floor to her family and keep one floor to herself.
Sanjay Dutt will also move out of Imperial Heights, Pali Hill, the building that came up when his father Sunil Dutt sold their bungalow. It is the same building in which Sanju’s sisters Namrata and Priya reside. Sanju and Manaayata are moving into a new place in Bandra itself because Sanju wants a huge nursery for his twins and also wants to equip his new home with some fancy amenities.
Karan Johar’s new home is also in Bandra, the interiors of which are being done by Riteish Deshmukh. Karan and his mother Hiroo Johar have lived in their current residence at Edec Roc in the Union Park area for a while now. Guess with KJo’s growing popularity, moving to a bigger home makes ample sense.

Asira Tarannum (MID-DAY; January 5, 2013)
Though Hindi films have often portrayed red-light areas in the country, when it came to shooting inside one such area in Amsterdam, it posed to be a huge problem.
For his upcoming Kangna Ranaut starrer Queens, Vikas wanted to take the camera inside the clitzy red-light district of Amsterdam where streetwalkers do business. But he soon realised that getting permissions was mighty hard. It became quite a task for the film’s crew.
A source says, “Vikas was very adamant to shoot there. But it was very difficult to procure the necessary permissions. No other Bollywood film has dug so deep into the red-light areas there.” The filmmaker says, “It took more than two and half months and a lot of paperwork to get the permission in place. There are many rules and regulations involved when shooting in that area.”
Kangna changes costumes in restaurant washrooms
0Chaya Unnikrishnan (DNA; January 1, 2013)
While shooting for her upcoming film Queens in Delhi last week, Kangna Ranaut had to change costumes in the washrooms of restaurants! The actress was shooting for Queen which has her playing a Delhiite. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film is being shot on real locations in India and abroad. A source says that Kangana had to change costumes in restaurants on her way to different locations to save time.
That’s because parking of vanity vans on real locations is not allowed in Delhi. Confirms Vikas, “We were shooting guerrilla style in the streets of Delhi. We didn’t get permission to park vanity vans so we had to change at various restaurants and shops.” The film is about a girl, who plans to go on a honeymoon alone after her marriage falls through. Kangna will be seen sporting an absolutely de-glam look in the film.

0Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; December 25, 2012)
In the mood for a screen makeover, Kangna Ranaut may have given a nod to essay a nautch girl in author-turned-filmmaker Vishwas Patil’s film Rajjo. But to do so the entire project, too, will have a drastic makeover.
Patil’s film was almost complete when Kangs was roped in to play the protagonist Rajjo. With her at the helm of the story now, buzz is that the film will have to be reshot.
Says a source, “Some of the other actors in the film have been asked to give fresh dates. They have been told that certain portions are being redone.” As reported ‘Kangna to play courtesan’ (Hitlist, December 8) the star was keen on preparing for her role by training for the mujra sequences. The director had also claimed that he was doing research of the redlight areas in Mumbai for her screen character.
Adds the source, “It sounds strange that a film that was shot six months ago suddenly announces a new addition to the cast. That too for the title role! The makers may have their reasons as including Kangna in the project takes it to a new level. The film was 90 per cent complete. It was shot with Bengali actress Tanushree Chakraborty as the nautch girl. Having Kangna in the film means that she replaced the original choice.’ The cast also includes Mahesh Manjrekar and Dalip Tahil. As reported ‘ Mahesh Manjrekar to play eunuch’ (Hitlist, July 4), the actor had shot for his scenes wearing salwar kurtas and sarees with garish make- up and gaudy More >

The entire country seems to be up in arms against the brutal molestation case that was reported in Delhi recently. And Bollywood too is extending its support for the victim, while protesting against the heinous crime that has taken the country by storm.
Kangna Ranaut and the entire unit from her upcoming film Queen wore black clothes while they shot on the roads of New Delhi. They will continue shooting near Delhi Haat and will carry on with their protest. After wrapping up the day’s shoot on Thursday, the group was also spotted queuing up with placards in hand that depicted black dots.
A source says, “When their Delhi schedule started, the entire city was marching in protest. Everyone including Kangna wore black throughout the day.”

Kangna Ranaut’s her own make-up man
0Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; December 15, 2012)
Since Kangna Ranaut’s on and off screen looks are often the toast of tinsel town, actress going de-glam in her next film, Queen, created quite a flutter. We hear that filmmakers didn’t even require the services of a make- up man or woman on the sets.
Director Vikas Bahl was apparently hell-bent to have Kangs look the way he envisioned, he refrained from hiring make-up artiste at all for the project.
A source informs, “Kangna, who known to portray overtly sexy and glamourous looks, has been transformed completely for this film. Her styling make-up is minimalistic. Vikas insisted Kangs, who looks very pretty and vulnerable without make- up, should go natural.” The film essays the actress as a simpleton who decides to go solo on honeymoon after her marriage through.
Jacqueline regrets not doing Krrish 3, Raaz 3?
0Jigar Shah (MID-DAY; December 13, 2012)
It looks like Jacqueline could be having second thoughts about declining Krrish 3. The actress, who was initially approached for a meaty negative role, was later replaced by Kangna.
Jackie confesses that though she wanted to do the film, her dates did not match. In fact, she also said no to Esha Gupta’s role in Raaz 3, which went on to become a hit.
The actress rues, “ Sometimes certain circumstances are beyond your control. Then you hear about those projects and think you could have been a part of those films, you do feel bad. But you have to learn to let go.”
Jackie crosses Kangna again
Recently at a gym, Jackie and Kangs had a near face-off incident. As Kangna entered the gym, the former model-turned-actress was seen leaving in a huff. Though onlookers say Jackie saw Kangs entering, she didn’t want to hang around and neither did the two exchange any pleasantries.
