The Dabangg Khan-daan
Sep 28th
We give you a blow-by-blow account of all that happened at Salman Khan’s Dabangg success party
While a good majority of the industry stayed away from Sallu’s bash, it did turn out to be a heady mix of celebrities, some clad in their snazzy cocktail outfits and of course, Sallu standing out ever so stylishly in his casual t-shirt and jeans.
Aamir’s sweet gesture
While host Sallu made a late entry himself, Aamir Khan, who recently returned from Toronto, came over (looking a tad out of place however in a bowtie and a suit) to wish Salman for his success.

Sonu-Sallu swappy story
The highlight of the evening was an oddly cute interaction between Sallu and Sonu Sood. Imagine a comic strip and here’s a chronological lowdown of what transpired. 1. Salman hugged Sonu and said that he wanted to do something for him. 2. Instinctively, Sallu removed the watch from his wrist and gave it to Sonu. 3. An overwhelmed Sonu thought of returning the gesture but proved to be a little unimaginative; he removed his watch to give it to Salman. 4. While initially refusing Sonu’s watch, Sallu finally took it and kept it in his pocket. 5. Sallu then took it out again and put it in Sonu’s pocket. 6. “This is its rightful place,” Sallu then told Sonu. 7. A touched Sonu hugged him tight. And they lived happily ever after.
Shirish bored without booze

Among Salman’s close friends present at the party were David Dhawan, Subhash Ghai, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder. After greeting others, Shirish made no qualms about admitting that he was feeling bored at the party. Reason? He said he had quit drinking and hence no longer knew what to do at a party anymore. Director Subhash Ghai was the last to land up at the party but was seen hobnobbing with Aamir for quite some time. Comeback, Mr Ghai?
Where’s the heroine?
Surprisingly, Sonakshi Sinha came in well past midnight. Her mother Punam Sinha and brother Kush were already present at the party when she entered. But we must add, she looked rather dapper in her multi-coloured short dress, with the khaandani high cheekbones definitely adding to the oomph factor.
Meeting the Kashyaps
Abhinav Kashyap entered hand-in-hand with his father and bonded for a long time with Arbaaz Khan. Anurag Kashyap came in his trademark blazer and jeans but sans girlfriend Kalki this time. The father-son pair looked cute together, especially after news of Anurag leaving his parents’ home to make his Bollywood career, had been doing the rounds.
As always, the after-party moved to Salman’s Bandra residence later and continued till the wee hours of the morning. Stars mingling in their own ‘Galaxy’…

That guy called Anurag
Sep 15th
Anurag Kashyap has been harrowed by an imposter, who has a not only opened fake accounts by his name on Twitter and Facebook, but also by his next film That Girl In Yellow Boots. Using these, the impostor has been interacting with various acquaintances of Anurag’s.
Anurag, who is not at all amused, wants to track him down with the help of cyber police. He plans to file a complaint as soon as he returns from Toronto from the screening of That Girl In Yellow Boots starring his girlfriend Kalki.
Anurag, whose real Twitter id is ankash1009, speaks from Toronto, “This guy is really bothering me. He has many accounts all over the place. His twitter handle is imanuragkashyap. He also has a Facebook account in my name and I guess he does all that using a mail id that must be fake too. He is setting up meetings using this fake id. Till now it was okay but now the guy is getting out of hand. He is interacting with someone like Taran Adarsh with whom I don’t see eye-to-eye. Tejaswini Kohlapure has been talking to him.”

Producers of The Film Emotional Atyachar win case against channel UTV Bindass, who had sued them for Rs 20 crore
On Wednesday afternoon the producers of The Film Emotional Atyachar had reason to rejoice; they won the case against UTV Bindass, when the court rejected the application of the channel.
UTV Bindass had filed this case against the film’s production house Purple Haze and Roopvati Pictures and had sued them for a whopping 20 crore, insisting that the title of the film belonged to them since they air a reality show by the same name. This lawsuit had stalled the release of the film, which is now slated for September 3 this year.

Ashok Purohit, lawyer of the film’s production house said, “UTV Bindass said that Emotional Atyachar is their brand name. However, it is a reality show while ours is a film. We are nowhere concerned with the reality show and we have our title registered with IMPAA (Indian Motion Pictures’ Producers Association).
We have a registered certificate in our favour and they have given the title to us after scrutiny. On the other hand UTV has not registered the title for the film with any of the industry bodies. The court rejected their case and they have now appealed against this order.
They had asked for damages amounting to around 20 crore but they had no details of the damages. The application has been rejected as of now while their appeal will be heard today.”
The spokesperson of UTV Bindass said, “The matter is on-going and we have filed for an appeal.” The Film Emotional Atyachar is directed by Akshay Shere and stars Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Abhimanyu Singh and Kalki in lead roles.

Dibakar’s next on Rajiv Gandhi assassination?
Jul 26th
The filmmaker is shooting a political thriller loosely based on the ex-Prime Minister’s murder; Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi will act
Now that Dibakar Banerjee has had his fill with understanding the complexities of personal relationships in Love Sex Aur Dhokha, the director is taking an interest in politics.
His next is supposedly a political thriller that is loosely based on ex-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. The film will star Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi in the lead roles. Dibakar is yet to cast an actress to play the female lead.
A source says, “Dibakar is considering Manisha Koirala and Sushmita Sen for the role of a female politician in the film. Talks are also on with Kalki for playing the female lead in the film.”
Apparently, Dibakar has been wanting to make this political thriller for long now, but he got busy with LSD and this project was put on hold. Initially, he had planned to make the political thriller with Imran Khan and Abhay Deol with Katrina Kaif as the female lead.

But Dibakar’s plans with Imran Khan didn’t work out because the actor couldn’t work out dates for the director. Imran Khan has now lost the film to his namesake (well almost), Emraan Hashmi.
Although the film is not based on the late Prime Minister’s life, it supposedly revolves around his death and the way he was killed. Dibakar has been researching diligently on attacks on top political leaders of the world.
When contacted, Emraan Hashmi confirms and says, “Yes I am in talks with Dibakar.” But despite repeated calls, Dibakar Banerjee remained unavailable for comment.

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, May 20, 2010 – 12:52 IST
Kalki Koechlin gave a rocking performance in Dev D, and then poof! She does a vanishing act on everyone. But good news for her fans is that she is back and on movie signing spree.
Bejoy Nambiar, who assisted Mani Ratnam during the making of Guru, has written his first film which is a thriller based on real life incidents, titled Shaitan. He has signed Arshad Warsi to play the male lead in the film while Kalki will be seen opposite Arshad.
Bejoy had initially produced this project in English for Ashok Amritraj and Hyde Park entertainment in L.A. but since things didn’t really happen, Bijoy redid the whole project in Hindi.
The other cast includes Manita Das, Shiv Pandit, Jackie Shroff, and Rajit Kapur.

Farhan’s flying high
May 3rd

SHARIN WADER BUTANI Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; May 3, 2010)
There are no limits to what a sister can get her brother to do… especially if she is directing a film and he is acting in it! That best explains why Farhan Akhtar, who can sing, act, direct and write scripts for Bollywood, is free-flying the skies. Sis Zoya and co-producer-friend Ritesh Sidhwani made him take up this extreme sport for their forthcoming film costarring Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Kalki. Zoya is keen that her actors do their own stunts and will not use body doubles. Earlier, she got Abhay to learn deep sea diving. Farhan, ever the adventurer, was game. “I did an AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) eight-level course in Spain,” he said. en I jumped the first time, I didn’t know what going on in my mind. Everything was a blur, it got over quickly. After that I tried it 16 times and enjoyed every bit of it.”

Incidentally, if you want to take up this sport but don’t have the heart for it, Farhan has encouragement and advice from his instructor: “When you don’t consider sitting in a boat as swimming, why do you consider sitting in a plane as flying? So, in a real sense, go fly!” After Abhay learning deep sea diving and Farhan, sky diving, we wonder what Zoya will make Hrithik Katrina do next.
