Virat-Sarah break up?
2
Another cricket-Bollywood romantic liaison goes kaput. The Sarah Jane Virat Kohli love story has finally fizzled out. The cricketer and the TV anchor-turned actress met at a party a few months back and fell head over heels for each other. With equal speed, the two seems to have grown out of each other.
Despite their hectic schedule, the two made it a point to go out on cozy dinners now and then. Virat had even invited Sarah to cheer him at the World Cup final at Wankhede Stadium on April 2. Though Sarah couldn’t make it due to the promotional campaign for her film Game at the time, she made it a point to meet up with the young cricketer later.
Virat Kohli (above) and Sarah Jane’s (r) affair has come to an endThe torrid affair came to an end just before Virat flew out to the West Indies for an ongoing tour. A source close to Virat and Sarah revealed, “Well, you can say that it sort of fizzled out. They tried to cement their relationship, but in their heart of hearts, they weren’t serious about it. So people close to them knew that it wouldn’t last.”
The split did not ome as a surprise to the ones involved either. “Sarah is perfectly fine. So is Virat. There is nothing surprising about this split. Haven’t most cricketer-actress romances come to zilch in the past as well?”
However, a friend of Virat defended him and said, “Virat doesn’t even know what Sarah looks like. So where is the question of More >
Operation Mumbai derails Rahul Bhatt’s plans
0
Rahul Bhatt had previously shared his intentions about making a film on the controversial figure behind 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, David Headley; who is currently facing a trial in the US. However, a small time filmmaker has already made a film on the same subject, involving both dreaded terrorist Ajmal Kasab and David Headley and how the entire Mumbai blast was planned and executed.
The film titled Operation Mumbai is now complete and will be released in the next couple of months thwarting Rahul Bhatt’s plans.
When contacted, the film’s director and actor Ajit Varma said, “All I can say is that I have made the film and it carries a strong message. I don’t want to reveal too much about it, apart from the fact that I faced great difficulty in making it. The film shows how mujahideens are made and how people behind them manipulate and plan.
A still from Operation MumbaiMy film has Headley, Kasab and everyone who are now in Pakistan responsible for such terrorism acts. Before going on the floor, we did extensive research on this incident.
Also, to gather first hand information, our creative team met many people related to the event, like the police personnel who were involved at that time etc.”
Speaking about Headley, Varma said, “I could not name him in the film but there is a shadow of a character who plans the attacks. My film has a big message that once you get hold of a terrorist, one More >
Madhavan, Bipasha bag Ashwini’s romantic comedy
0The actress will be seen opposite Tanu Weds Manu star R Madhavan in a romantic comedy to be directed by Ashwini Chaudhary
Noyon Jyoti Parasara (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 13, 2011)
It’s a romantic comedy for ‘Manu’ Madhavan opposite the sizzling and still single Bipasha Basu after his latest blockbuster Tanu Weds Manu.
The actress after her break off with John Abraham and friendly encounters with Hollywood star Josh Hartnett will now be a part of a full fledged love story. Although in reel life!
As per sources, the film was brought to Madhavan right after the success of TWM. “He quite liked the idea and was also excited when he got to know that Bipasha was being approached to play the female lead.
Though they have known each other, the actors have never worked together,” informed the source. Bipasha’s rom-com stints in the past are long forgotten.
While she had done a cameo in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, her only full fledged role in a romantic comedy before this was Bachna Ae Haseeno where too she was not the main lead.
The film goes on floors in July. “Ashwini will finish the shoot of this film before he moves on to direct Ghayal Returns. If things go as planned, it will release early next year,” the source informed. Director Ashiwni Chaudhary, who is travelling abroad right now, could not be reached for comment.
Lahore director to make film on Sanjay Gandhi
0Lahore director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan is ready to make a film on the late politician’s eventful life
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 13, 2011) Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan & and Sanjay Gandhi (l)
The life of late Sanjay Gandhi, a controversial figure in the Indian politics, is being made into a film. Director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan of Lahore fame, is all set to make the film based on the life of ex Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s younger son. The yet untitled film will go on the floors after Chauhan completes his science fiction film, Anahaat.
Chauhan confirmed the news and told us, “Yes, it is true and this is something that I always wanted to do. I have always been impressed by his ideologies and his vision about our country. It is just now that I have started working on the film, as my science fiction film is ready to go on the floors.
Sanjay Gandhi was a very controversial figure. I always wanted to portray his life on the big screen, but I am going to show the kind of person he was rather than venturing into the controversies surrounding his death.”
Chauhan finally added, “Ever since I started making Lahore, I have been looking out for some writers who are well aware of Indian politics and the nitty-gritty of it. I have found them now and they are currently doing research on that. I want to be careful about the facts and the politics around his life. I don’t want to leave any room for anyone to raise any objection.”

Sonam plays mediator between Anil, Sush?
0Like a good daughter, Sonam waves the white flag at Shilpa who was offended by a snide comment made by Anil Kapoor six months back
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 13, 2011)
One wouldn’t have thought a surgery could create controversies and strain relationships. But in Bollywood it is actually possible with a popular chat show becoming the platform for it. This is exactly what happened between Anil Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty last year.
On December 11, 2010 we had reported how Anil Kapoor had rewarded Shilpa Shetty as ‘the worst case of botox’ on Karan Johar’s chat show. Not only that, he went on to narrate how her lip and nose job during Badhai Ho Badhai disrupted the entire shooting.
Shilpa Shetty was reported to be extremely upset about it. The Kundras had ever since ignored the Kapoors. But now it seems the war has ended. Apparently, it was Anil’s diva daughter Sonam who took up the cudgels to douse the fire for her father.
Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra were recently spotted chatting up very warmly with Sonam at a Juhu restaurant. Shilpa and Raj entered the restaurant around 10.30 pm. Exactly five minutes later, Sonam came in with her sister Rhea and a friend.
While the trio was settling down, Sonam spotted Shilpa. She immediately walked up to her and greeted her. A witness says, “In fact, Sonam sat down with them for a good ten minutes. She was also advising them on a few delicacies available in that restaurant. It seemed that she More >
Vidya develops skin rash on sets of Dirty Picture
0Vidya Balan takes a dip in a bathtub for Ekta Kapoor’s film on Silk Smitha, comes out covered with skin rashes
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 13, 2011)
Acting is not an easy job. Being Silk Smitha seems to be even less so. Vidya Balan would surely attest to that. While playing the late item girl in Ekta Kapoor’s Dirty Picture, directed by Milan Luthria, Vidya has encountered an unexpected problem.
Looks like, the film in which Vidya was supposed to indulge in a lot of skin show has managed to spoil her skin. After shooting for a bathtub scene, the actress developed a skin rash so severe that she had to be hurried to a dermatologist.
The skin disaster happened while Vidya was shooting for a bathing scene in Film City, Goregaon. Clad in a towel, the actress stepped into a tub filled with soap water. After some time, her skin started feeling rough. She ignored it initially. But when the rough patches gave way to red rashes, she raised the alarm.
A source revealed, “Vidya soon realised that she had developed an allergy. The rash spread all over her body. She quickly got dressed. Abandoning the shoot, she went to see the doctor immediately.”
Though some would like to blame the production unit for using unhygienic water for the shoot, our source claimed, “Balaji Motion Pictures had organised for mineral water to be filled in the bathtub. Luthria is very particular about his actors getting the best.
Despite the precautions, Vidya developed the More >
Dostana again for Abhishek-John
0Upala KBR (BOMBAY TIMES; June 13, 2011)
Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham have decided to take their dostana forward! The two actors are planning to come out with a series of films starring both of them — thus branding them a pair.
Says a source, “AB Jr and JA have been in talks to come out with a series of films in different genres to take their Dostana a step further. While Tarun Mansukhani will bring out the film’s sequel, the two actors are very excited about branding their pair. Some people even felt that the men shared more chemistry on screen together than they did with lead actress Priyanka Chopra.
The informer adds, “Both actors get along extremely well. AB Jr has mentioned in interviews that wife Aishwarya and John are his favourite co-stars. Last year, at an award event when he was absent, Abhi asked Aish and John to jointly collect the award.”
The stars have yet to decide if they will find producers or their own individual production houses will jointly produce the films. “The films will be launched next year. The duo plan to approach big directors to helm their films. Currently, they have been going through various scripts to finalise some projects. They don’t just want to do romcoms. From niche films to cop dramas, everything’s on the agenda.”
John confirms, “Yes, Abhishek and I have been in talks to bring out a series of films with us starring in it. All films will be of different genres. It’s our way of taking the More >
Balika Vadhu: Drama for a cause
0TV show Balika Vadhu, once accused of promoting child marriage, is now highlighting the pitfalls of the social evil
Roshni K Olivera (BOMBAY TIMES; June 13, 2011)
Colors’ Balika Vadhu may have been based on the concept of child marriage, but the current track clearly highlights the pitfalls of this social evil. The protagonist Anandi is being abandoned by her husband for another woman, citing the fact that his marriage to her wasn’t legal anyway.
Balika Vadhu, that’s topped the rating charts in the past, also received brickbats for promoting child marriage. But, the makers maintained that in order to portray the story of a child bride, it was important for the show to actually showcase child marriage. “This in no way was an indication of ‘promoting’ the practice,” says channel programming head Ashvini Yardi.
Pratyusha Banerjee, who plays the lead protagonist, is glad their show is sending across a message. “Through the last three years, Balika… has shown on how Anandi wanted to study but couldn’t because she was married off. And today, when the same Anandi is grown up, she is still feeling the repercussions of her untimely marriage.”
Feeling strongly for the character she portrays, Pratyusha says, “Anandi isn’t well-educated, her marriage does not hold true in the court of law and her husband does not want to stand by her. Where does this leave her? These are relevant questions because, believe it or not, there are still regions in More >
Aesthetically loud? Why not!-Amitabh Bachchan
0Amitabh Bachchan is happy with the way his Bbuddah character has been designed; sees nothing wrong in being “aesthetically loud”
Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; June 13, 2011)
Get this right! 99.9 per cent of the Hindi film industry is curious as hell about AB Corporation and Viacom 18’s Bbuddah-Hoga Terra Baap that is releasing worldwide on July 1. “Curious is an understatement,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “People are dying to see Amitabh Bachchan return as an angry old man.” Of course, the remaining detractors feel that the Bollywood legend shouldn’t attempt to wear green glasses or ludicrous costumes (as seen on hoardings across the country) or be so loud. Read what the man himself has to say…
What prompted you to try something like Bbuddah at this stage in your life and career? • Ram Gopal Varma was the one who told me about Bbuddah for the first time. He is the one who introduced Puri Jagannath to me. You should ask Puri what was going on in his mind when he thought of me in the role of Bbuddah. I’m an actor and am game to doing any role my director envisions me in. Moreover, as an actor, I should be ready for all kinds of challenges. I liked what Puri had in mind and we went ahead and made the film. I did not consider whether it was breaking any trend or following it. If our choice of subject is the desired choice of the people and the market, so be it.
The dialogue in the trailers implies that you are angry yet again! • More >
SRK dances to Dhinka Chika at the Reddy Wedding
0He did a Dhinka Chika at the Reddy wedding, and even wore his shades on his back in Salman’s trademark style
Garima Sharma & Christina Francis (BOMBAY TIMES; June 13, 2011)
Those looking forward to seeing Shah Rukh Khan dance to chartbusters from his films at GVK Reddy’s granddaughter Mallika Reddy’s wedding to Siddharth Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday were in for a big surprise. Says our source, “He entered to Main Hoon Don, but then he noticed that Amitabh Bachchan was also there. So, he apologised to Bachchan jokingly, saying he shouldn’t have entered like that since the ‘original’ Don (Bachchan) was already there.” And then, he announced an original item made, “By the Reddys, for the Reddys, from Ready and grooved to Salman Khan’s hit track Dhinka Chika. Sallu, of course, wasn’t there! SRK even put his shades on his back collar like Salman does in the song.”
The source said, “When he performed, everyone went mad. He performed to a medley of his own songs too, but it was his Dhinka Chika act that had everyone talking. He wasn’t uncomfortable, he is a true performer, Mallika’s mother Pinky had even offered SRK for a discount for performing at the wedding, but he politely refused.”
Besides this, SRK also performed to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with Rani Mukerji. SRK’s act ended in Om Shanti Om, style with him dancing with all his leading ladies — Rani, Anushka, Priyanka and, even Ranveer.
