We’ve heard of strong professional partnerships, but this one takes the cake. John Abraham, who has just finished the interiors of his new Band Stand apartment, will be having a visitor for many days to come: director Abbas Tyrewala of Jaane Tu…Jaane Na fame is all set to move, bag and baggage, to his actor’s home.
The director, who is making 1-800-LOVE, starring Abraham and his wife Pakhi, is taking this step to quell rumours about the faltering rapport between the actor and director.
There are strong rumours about John having been getting insecure and annoyed about Tyrewala’s wife Pakhi getting more screen time in the forthcoming film 1-800-LOVE. This allegedly was causing professional tension between Tyrewala and Abraham.
So sick in fact is Tyrewala about this that he has even decided to tag along with John to parties, shoots, public events, appearances, you name it. Till the time that the rumours die out in the media and the public about the so-called rift between John and Abbas, this arrangement will continue. Abbas may as well make a documentary on John’s life at this rate!
When contacted John Abraham laughed and said, “Abbas is a very sensitive director and he was getting very upset with all these rumours so when he suggested that he wanted to shift into my house I was very happy to have a friend around. I am also throwing a completion party for the film at my place on Friday night.”

David Dhawan’s son in KJo’s film?

It is set to be a dream launch. Varun Dhawan, younger son of former Bollywood box office pasha David Dhawan, has been signed by Karan Johar for a project that will take off in 2011.
Trade sources say that David was always clear that his older son Rohit will be a director and younger son Varun an actor. Rohit is meant to be directing Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Chitrangadha Singh and Deepika Padukone in Desi Boyz. And Varun was waiting in the wings till KJo discovered him.
Karan says, “The banner will launch two new boys in the same film. The details of the boys and the director are still in the process of finalisation there are no confirmations as yet.”
However, it is almost certain that Varun will be one of those boys. Incidentally, the director too will be a Dharma faithful. There was a time when David could have been the ideal filmmaker to launch his own son. He was ruling the BO with super-hits like Biwi No 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Coolie No 1 and many of those critically-spurned puerile super-hits. However, post Partner (again a huge hit) David is in semi-hibernation. In fact, after his Do Knot Disturb fiasco, the trade has been sceptical about DD’s box office prowess. The filmmaker has been signed for Sanjay Dutt’s Rascals with Sanju and Ajay Devgn in the lead.

John Abraham is livid. A phony has been running a website by his name and has been responding to fan mails.
John has now decided to interact with his fans himself instead of letting imposters use his name on various networking sites. John will be re-launching his website this weekend.
The actor is tired of getting incessant calls and SMSs from his friends, complaining about responses from his fake ID.
When contacted John said, “I want to tell my fans and everyone that I am not on any networking site. So all other accounts by my name are fake ones.
Secondly I am going digital and will be staring various stuff on my website which will include voice blogs and videos and interaction with my fans directly.
Also, myjohnabraahm.com is not my website.
The only genuine one is www.johnabraham.com, which I will be operating myself.”
John khelega dandiya!

John Abraham in his current avatar, can easily do the desi version of The Incredible Hulk. But Bollywood producer Madhu Mantena has other plans for him. Sources say that the actor who had two left feet till yesterday, will be marketed as this year’s main Navratri garba attraction reportedly along with dandiya queen singer Falguni Pathak or someone equally famous.
How did this happen? It is said that John shot a dandiya song for the first time for Abbas Tyrewala. And though John is not as proficient a dancer as Hrithik Roshan or Shahid Kapoor, he did his dandiya steps correctly while the other youngsters in the film were struggling to get it right. For this, John has his college training to thank. The actor, who is well versed with Gujarati culture and speaks the language fluently too, used to go for a lot of dandiya functions and was a hit there too. So since he’s such a pro at it, his film’s marketing team has decided to make him the attraction at the various garba dos that will take place during October coz that’s when the film’s releasing too.

MS Dhoni and John Abraham might have sworn eternal friendship to one another but if John were asked to extend it to Dhoni’s friends, he would probably think twice. Thanks to these friends, John had to face a lot of embarrassment at Dhoni’s Dehradun wedding on July 4 this year.
Look at this picture carefully. When you get past John’s exhausted, defeated look, you notice his ill-fitting kurta, that’s at least two sizes larger than required. Considering he doesn’t have a paunch to hide, why would the actor wear a loose kurta at his best friend’s wedding? Read on.
John’s girlfriend Bipasha Basu could not make it to Dhoni’s wedding (as an afterthought, John probably thanks his stars for that). John flew to Dehradun with Dhoni’s teammate Piyush Chawla. Not in his wildest dreams had he imagined what lay in store for him.
On reaching the venue, John discovered that his bag with clothes was missing. A source says, “John was terribly worried. He searched for his bag everywhere but could not find it.”

Here’s what had happened. Dhoni’s friends, who were playing a prank on John, hid his bag. The source says, “They decided to hide his bag for a while and then return it to him later. But the rains came down and wet the bag completely. Apparently, they had hid it in a place, which was not fully covered. Water seeped into the bag and John’s outfits were soaked. Obviously, the friends couldn’t return wet clothes to John.”
So, John was told that the bag had been misplaced. Left with no alternative, John had to borrow a kurta from Dhoni’s brother-in-law. John also donned a pagdi for a few minutes.
“Sakshi’s brother gave him a kurta to wear, else John would have had to wear the same outfit he had travelled in. John could have easily ventured out to buy a new outfit, but then, he didn’t have too much time in hand,” adds the source.
For now, John is maintaining his composure. He says, “I wore Dhoni’s brother in law’s kurta and it was nice to be dressed like one of them. I guess it went well with my pagdi.” Don’t worry about the outfit John, your beauty remains in the eye of your beholders.

Priyanka Chopra says her priorities are different

Priyanka Chopra has a birthday coming up on July 18. “Please don’t remind me of the fact that I’ll turn a year older. I’m a girl and it is my prerogative not to be asked my age,” says the superstar. Even though the actress has completed a decade in Bollywood, she has a hungry glint in her contact lenses.
She is in character for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf where she romances seven men ranging from the sublime Naseeruddin Shah to the beefy John Abraham. “Saat Khoon Maaf will be another career-defining film. And believe me, I feel I have worked the hardest on this one. Fashion got me the National Award, Kaminey got me notices, and I’m hoping SKM will get me both awards and accolades.’’
She admits that at 28 (oops that just slipped out!) she’s hungry for meatier roles. “I wish the year had 500 days. I could have accommodated four films more. Believe me, there are six offers on hold at this point.’’
But PC says she’s happy. “I’m in my 20s and I’ve done some terrific work. I just love being single. I’m not the kind who goes out looking for love. Being unattached has its perks. What’s the hurry? I’m not in my 30s and I don’t have to worry about who I’m going to get hitched with. Perhaps five years from now, I may consider being an aiyyaash (spoilt) wife indulging in diamonds and debauchery… but right now I like chilling.’’
The coming months are going to be a flurry of activities for PC. She has Anjaana Anjaani this September with Ranbir Kapoor and her first season of Khatron Ke Khiladi. “I can’t see myself sitting idle for even a month. My manager had kept a month off for a vacation but I filled up the days with some more endorsement work and prepping for another film. Vacations have to be forced on me.’’ She admits that there is a sense of insecurity amongst actors. “But in my case, the insecurity is more to do with my desire to keep raising the bar continuously. I look at every actor and actress as my serious competitor and when I’m on board a film, I want to be the best,’’ she says.
And unlike her colleagues, who are planning to get into production, writing autobiographies or extending their equity to clothes lines and cosmetics, PC just wants to concentrate on acting. “If I attempted an autobiography, it would end in two chapters,’’ she laughs.

Sharman, Dino refuse Dostana 2?

A year after Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code was repealed; Dino Morea and Sharman Joshi have decided to trace back their steps. They have refused to play gay men in Dostana 2.
The prequel starred Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the lead roles. A source says, “Dino and Sharman did give it a thought. But after much deliberation, they politely refused the offer.”
Earlier, the buzz was that Ritesh Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade had turned down the same offer. Post that, it was heard that the entire gay track in the film has now been scrapped.

Is that because none of these actors are willing? While the gay relationship between John and Abhishek was much appreciated in the prequel, Dostana 2 seems to be going a different direction.
Even the female lead Priyanka Chopra has been replaced by Katrina Kaif.

John Abraham may have a better body, but the actor doesn’t have Shah Rukh Khan’s luck. While SRK is all set to fly to South Africa (after holidaying in London that is) for attending the FIFA finals, John, who had made similar plans, had to cancel them at the last minute. Reason? His own film Saat Khoon Maaf.
John has been following all the World Cup matches quite diligently, on his new home theatre system. Call it cruel irony but in the interim, the actor also worked for an advertisement, which required him to play a football fan, spinning the ball like a pro.

“Bet no one in the industry can spin the wall the way I can. Can’t wait to be at the finals. I’ve my tickets booked for the finals,” said John with childlike pride, a few weeks ago.
It all came to a grinding halt when Vishal Bharadwaj, director of Saat Khoon Maaf, decided to do some additional shooting in Mumbai for his film with Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham.
Says a source, “John was heartbroken. He had gone to great lengths to ensure he could be in South Africa in time for the finals. When one of the readings of the Dostana 2 script coincided with the World Cup Finals John had painstakingly worked on rearrange his schedules.
If he had his way he would have attended all the matches. But various things including his pal Dhoni’s wedding kept him from his dream spot.”
After Dhoni’s wedding John was all set to leave when Vishal gave him the news. Trying hard to conceal his disappointment John said, “Yes work beckons. I won’t be able to go for the finals. It’s a blow. I was so looking forward to it. But what to do? Work comes first. Next time for sure.”
Boney, Sridevi: Asin’s God-parents?

Asin has been suffering from a bout of hiccups as far as her recent stint in Bollywood goes.
Her career not scaled the heights it should have post Ghajini, and she hasn’t been able to find the right connections as far as Hindi cinema goes.
Recently Asin came in for more than her share of negative publicity. And the actress was truly rattled when news leaked that she had been dropped from a couple of projects that had her starring opposite John Abraham and Ranbir Kapoor.
Seeing how distraught she was, her father Joseph Thottumkal reportedly felt his daughter needed expert guidance. He is said to have entrusted her to the care of Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor and his wife Sridevi, who are not only well established in the Hindi film industry but also Asin’s neighbours.
“Someone advised the Thottumkals that things would move more smoothly for the actress if she had a Godfather,” says a source. Asin, who has been shooting with Salman Khan in Colombo for the last fortnight, has been in touch with Boney and Sridevi on a daily basis.
Asin’s endorsements are still being looked after by Culture Company; but it is said that even here, the actress has reportedly been asking for a second opinion from her newly appointed God-parents.

It has been reported earlier that Asin is very close to Sri’s daughters Jahnvi and Khushi. Asked if he and Sridevi had adopted Asin, Boney made light of the situation by saying, “Ha, ha, at this point I need to help myself.”
However, Asin said, “I have grown very close to Sridevi. While I don’t think of her as my Godmother, I’m very dependent on her. She is my emotional anchor.”

After the action in Dehradun over the weekend, the excitement is going to shift to Mumbai. And, BT has it that John Abraham and Bipasha Basu, who are Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s closest friends in Mumbai, are going to be holding a party for the newly-married Team India captain at John’s duplex penthouse apartment in Sea Glimpse building, Bandra Bandstand.
This party, a sort of reception for Dhoni and his new bride Sakshi (Singh Rawat), may happen on Wednesday, July 7, which is also the cricketer’s birthday.
Bipasha, who was shooting in Diu for Priyadarshan’s Aakrosh yesterday, could not accompany John to Dehradun for the wedding, because the couple (like everybody else, including Dhoni’s cricketing teammates) got short notice. John himself, who spoke to BT from the Dehradun airport, had no idea that he was heading for the ceremony. “I just got a call from Mahi saying, ‘Bro, please come’… and I rushed off,” said the Bollywood hunk who did not find the time to even pick up a gift for his buddy. Bipasha was attending to that.
She and John are both returning to Mumbai tomorrow, he has to report on the sets of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf, and Dhoni and Sakshi are slated to come to the city on Wednesday after a brief stopover in Delhi. As to who will be invited to the party at John’s home, according to Bipasha, only people close to them with whom Dhoni is comfortable. Apparently, the swashbuckling cricketer is a very private and reticent man, he doesn’t know too many people in Mumbai. “But he is a big fan of Ajay Devgn’s,” revealed Bips. The Bollywood couple have been on foursome dates with Dhoni and Sakshi before and are pleased at the marriage. John gave his friend’s choice a thumbs up. “Sakshi is a nice girl, very sweet… damn cute and pretty, a small town girl with good middleclass values, she is perfect for Dhoni. In our industry, he’d be devoured, he’s such a wonderful and amazing person,” said John yesterday from Dehradun. While Bips added from Diu, “I’m over the moon. I can’t tell you how happy I am that Mahi and Sakshi are getting together.”
