Giaa Manek slams the producer of her daily soap for spreading rumours about her alleged un-professionalism
Sonali Joshi Pitale (MID-DAY; August 21, 2012)
Giaa Manek was in the news recently for ditching her daily soap Saath Nibhana Saathiya in order to take part in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5. Not only did the show’s producers slam her for her alleged unprofessional act, she was even voted out of the show last week.
The actress categorically states that she feels no regret whatsoever in choosing the reality show over her daily serial. In fact, she blames the producer for driving her to this act. Giaa states, “I did not leave the show because I wanted to take part in the reality series. My producer was torturing me. So I chose to leave.”
The actress says that her contract with the soap’s producer clearly stated that she could terminate the contract at her own will. Giaa argues that the producer had no right to take action against her or badmouth her in the industry. Giaa points out, “The buzz that I won’t be allowed to work on any other show is a rumour. No one else should have any problem.”
Ask her what she feels about an alleged bias towards professional dancers on the reality show that she has just exited, and the actress chooses to play it safe. She says, “Ritwik Dhanjani and Isha Sharwani are trained dancers, while we learnt all these new dance forms in just three days. So there is no comparison between us.”
Buzz is that the singer-anchor is tipped to win the current season of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’
Sonali Joshi Pitale (MID-DAY; August 11, 2012)
Even while Isha Sherwani’s co-contestants on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 are crying foul of the judges favouring the actress-dancer, there is buzz that singer-anchor Shibani Dandekar could just manage to steal the show.
Our source from the sets says, “It is obvious that Isha is better dancer but that does not mean she will win the show. This programme is all about non-dancers and Shibani along with Bharti Singh and Giaa Manek have high chances of winning.”
Responding to the buzz that she is currently one of the favourites on the show, Shibani says, “Everything is unpredictable. A lot depends on our performances every week. During last week, my act was not so good. I hope I am able to bounce back and people vote for me to keep me in the running for the top award.”
Meanwhile, there is also buzz that Shibani has been offered a show by the same channel and talks are on between the two to finalise the deal.
Is working with newbies a big advantage? Ask Karan Johar, he knows
Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; June 13, 2012)
Karan Johar has about 15 days of shoot still left for his upcoming film Student Of The Year with newbies Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra.
But the producer-director, who has to also juggle time for the television show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, is not too worried. He feels that his film’s shoot schedule and post-production won’t be affected because of television.
He says, “This is the advantage of working with newcomers. You can get them to shoot whenever you want as their dates can be shuffled according to my convenience. There is never any date issue at all with the new lot. Whenever I need them, they are there. The biggest date problem is me! I have to fix the shoot schedule according to my other commitments. The cast has to adjust everything for me.”
Home turf After a recent spell in Thailand, KJo will be filming the remaining portions in Mumbai. He adds, “My television commitments will be on certain days of the week so I can manage both.”
And he has promised his mother Hiroo Johar that he will not embarass her with his dancing antics. “Otherwise she won’t allow me in the house. I don’t want to disobey her rules.”
Looks like his days of the Sheila Ki Jawani act in Simi Garewal’s chat show are a thing of the past. Simply because now he will have to wonder what his newbie actors will have to say.

By Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; May 15, 2012)
Though the names are extremely guarded for the moment, the hunt for the 12 celebrity contestants to participate in the new season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa has begun. Things are hush-hush, but Colors has already finalised a few names while awaiting confirmation from the rest.

Isha Sharvani She is a trained dancer and did a few Bollwyood films like Kisna. Better remembered as the on-off girlfriend of Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan. She may have the edge, so does that give her a headstart?
Talat Aziz This ghazal singer is comfortable performing in front of an audience. But what about dancing?
Bharti Singh The portly comedian has danced in some of her gigs. However, she will now have to match steps to choreography. Fun is coming…

Saroj Khan on her favourite student Madhuri Dixit as they work together again after a hiatus
By Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; May 4, 2012)
It was yesterday once more for Madhuri Dixit and Saroj Khan as the duo got together to shoot for the promos of a dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 at Filmistan Studios over the weekend. The actress and the choreographer share a special bond that goes back to when Mads was an upcoming actress and Saroj a leading choreographer.
The two feels that the music’s beats connect them. The veteran choreographer has always admitted that Madhuri has been her favourite. According to her, Mads understands the steps exactly and the way she wants them to be done — even before she can fully explain it. And even today, the star feels guilty if she skips a step in front of her guru!
About working with Madhuri again after a hiatus, Saroj says, “It feels exactly how you feel when your child comes back from boarding school. I have seen her grow from her Ek Do Teen days and I am proud to see my student as a judge for a dance show.”
She adds, “I have had a chance to work through the past several decades. In earlier days, expressions and movements defined a choreographer’s style. This is what Madhuri and I are bringing alive. No one can beat her expressions.”
For the two-day shoot, the Dhak Dhak star would begin filming for each segment by touching Saroj’s feet while the latter showered every bit of attention on her special student. Each shot was okayed More >

We want her to judge the fifth season as well. We have spoken to her about it.”
Another source says, “Madhuri has enjoyed her stay in India. She is seriously considering the offer.
The modalities are being worked out.”
Ajit Thakur, head honcho of the channel in question said, “We would love to have Madhuri back.”
