0Despite being close friends of the actress, Hrithik and Karan skipped her wedding on Sunday and stuck by a promise made to Shabana Azmi

Both Karan Johar and Hrithik Roshan skipped their close friend Neelam Kothari’s wedding on Sunday.
Roshan Jr, who returned from London the same afternoon, had promised Shabana Azmi to be the showstopper at a fashion show organised to raise funds for the empowerment of the girl child.
Neelam Kothari made plans to marry in the last 15days but both Karan and Hrithik Roshan had committed to Shabana Azmi much earlier.
A source said, “Neelam’s wedding and Shabana Azmi’s fashion show timings were clashing but both Karan and Hrithik Roshan kept the promise made to Azmi.”
Most other actors are not invited to Neelam’s wedding, it seems but Karan and Hrithik are quite close to her and were hence invited as special guests.
The source said, “Karan is walking the ramp but Hrithik is the show stopper.
If at all they try and make it to the wedding, it will be much later in the night after the event gets over.”
Abhinay Deo absent at Delhi Belly focus group screening?
0The actor organised a special screening of Delhi Belly for a focus group but the director Abhinay Deo was apparently nowhere to be seen
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 24, 2011)
A few weeks ago, Aamir Khan held a special screening of his film Delhi Belly for a focus group at his office in Bandra. The group consisted of people from different strata of society and they were supposed to offer their inputs after watching the film.
A source said, “Aamir gave them a patient ear. Now, he is incorporating the inputs, which he found to be valuable. He may even edit out some of the scenes, which the focus group found unnecessary.”
Rumour has it that the director of Delhi Belly, Abhinay Deo, who reportedly had a fallout with Aamir, was not present at the screening. “Yes, Abhinay was not around. But that was expected,” added the source.
However, when asked, Abhinay shot back saying, “I was present at the screening.” Interestingly, exactly a minute later, Aamir Khan Productions’ official spokesperson
Abhinay Deosent us a text message about focus trials of films being a common practice at Aamir Khan Productions. “Aamir has had these screenings right from his first film,” said the spokesperson.
And considering Maamujaan’s nephew Imran Khan plays the lead in Delhi Belly, how could Aamir have made an exception to the rule? Meanwhile, Abhinay Deo’s presence at the screening still remains a mystery…
Rishi Kapoor to make a TV debut soon?
0The actor is in talks with a channel to judge a singing talent show based on the international series The X Factor
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 24, 2011)
If all goes well, Rishi Kapoor will make his TV debut in a few days from now.
Chintuji, as he is fondly called in the industry, will judge the Indian version of the international show The X Factor, a singing talent show that was first created and produced by Simon Cowell.
Kapoor and the channel have had their share of meetings in the past few days. The modalities have been worked out. A source close to the show told Mumbai Mirror, “Chintuji is very excited about judging the Indian avtaar of The X Factor.
He is working out the dates and soon we shall start shooting with him.”
After bringing Kaun Banega Crorepati back on the small screen with megastar Amitabh Bachchan last year, the channel in question launched the fourth season of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 with dancing diva Madhuri Dixit.
Added the source, “Chintuji on board will be an asset on the show.
There are few who know dance and music better than him in Bollywood.”
When contacted, the channel however neither confirmed nor denied the story. And Kapoor remained unavailable for comment.
Pooja is single again?
0An 18-month-long affair between Pooja Bedi and Dwiti Vikramaditya ended. She wanted marriage but he had not even told his parents about her
Saumit Singh (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 24, 2011)
It’s all over between Pooja Bedi and her boyfriend from Bhubaneshwar, Dwiti Vikramaditya. The couple has parted ways. Pooja decided to end the relationship, which began about 18 months ago. “She took this decision just a coupe of days ago,” said a friend of hers.
Pooja and Vikramaditya called it a day because she wanted to marry and Vikramaditya kept dillydallying on the same.
Explaining what went wrong between the two, Pooja’s friend said, “Vikramaditya’s father was not too keen on this relationship. Vikranmaditya could not go against his parents’ wishes.”
When contacted, Pooja confirmed and said, “Yes. Vikramaditya and I are not together anymore.
We were supposed to get engaged in February 2010, but then he asked for some time. Then we were supposed to exchange rings in February 2011. But now…,” she trailed off.
Added Pooja, “I had made him a part of my home and kids. But he never told his parents about us. They kept reading it in the papers, I guess. And later, they didn’t approve of it. It was a fairy tale romance for me.
But it has been very traumatic. I even spoke to Vikramaditya’s brother Animesh and even he is rather surprised and shocked about this whole episode.”
No ekta between Ekta, Sanjay Gupta
0While Ekta Kapoor apparently wants the sequel of Shootout at Lokhandwala to be inspired from a real life shootout, director Sanjay Gupta is strongly against it
Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 24, 2011)
If sources are to be believed there is a major conflict of interest between Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta (both co-producers) over the sequel to Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007).
While Apoorva Lakhia directed the 2007 film, Sanjay Gupta will direct its sequel. Sources say that during the making of the 2007 film, Lakhia and Gupta had had a fallout.
Now that Gupta is directing the sequel of the film, Ekta has already blocked his dates for it. According to well-informed sources, Ekta wants the Shootout sequel to go into the same headline space as the first film.
The makers are frantically trying to find another cop-gangster shootout that had appeared in the newspapers. But Gupta, for reasons of his own, doesn’t want to do another film on a real life shootout.
For the sequel of Shootout At Lokhandwala, Gupta has already bought the rights of a recent Hong Kong action movie. And that is what he would like Shootout Part 2 to be.
Sanjay Gupta Ekta KapoorWith Ekta insisting on a sequel based on headlines and Gupta wanting to explore fiction, the sequel to the 2007 franchise is now stuck. Frantic discussions are on between the two parties to resolve the matter. But both Kapoor and Gupta are equally adamant about their respective More >
Lajmi sees red over Deepika’s refusal
0The actress refused her film without even talking to her on phone, forget meeting her
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 24, 2011)
Deepika Padukone’s year may be choc-a-bloc with films but she should at least hear out directors before slamming the door on them.
A few days ago, Deepika rejected Kalpana Lajmi’s film without once talking to her, forget reading the script.
Lajmi, the director of Rudaali (1993), whose last film Chingaari, starring Sushmita Sen hit the theatres in 2006, has been struggling for quite some time to put a project together.
A source says, “Lajmi called up Deepika’s secretary who told her in the first call that Deepika won’t do the film since she had no dates. Lajmi was willing to wait till Deepika had dates but was shocked at her secretary’s refusal.”
Two months after Lajmi spoke to Deepika’s secretary, the actress texted her saying that she can’t do her film, as she is not free until 2012. “The message was polite. But Lajmi is wondering why an actress would turn a film down even before speaking to the director,” adds the source.
When contacted, Lajmi said, “I was ready to wait till Deepika was free. It is sad that today’s heroines are busy only in image-building exercises. They forget that it is the medium of cinema and nothing else that makes them popular.”
Though the actress stayed out of this, her manager said, “We would love to work with a senior director like Lajmi but unfortunately, there are only 365 days in a More >
Anushka Sharma neglecting Patiala House?
0She is still busy promoting Band Baaja Baaraat, a film that has already hit theatres, and is apparently ignoring the promotions of Patiala House
Mauli Singh (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 24, 2011)
Not everyone handles success well. Even post the success of her film Band Baaja Baaraat, it seems Anushka Sharma is busy promoting it.
So single-mindedly dedicated is she to this film that she has forgotten her upcoming project with Akshay Kumar, Patiala House. The film that is slated for release on February 11, hasn’t fixed on dates for promotion work with Anushka.
The actress is apparently giving a tough time to the makers of Patiala House. A reliable source from the film reveals, “The producer Bhushan Kumar and director Nikhil Advani have been trying to get Anushka’s dates, but she seems to be too busy with Band Baaja Baaraat.
Whenever the makers of Patiala House approached her for dates her manager told them that she would revert later. They can’t understand why she is dillydallying.
When a superstar like Akshay Kumar can find time to promote his film, why can’t Anushka? The makers are aghast with Anushka’s unprofessionalism.
They feel the success of Band Baaja Baaraat has gone to her head. She is still making the crew of Patiala House wait endlessly for her dates.”
Though the director and the producer confirm that the dates have still not been worked out, Nikhil Advani says, “Akshay and Anushka both are very excited for the film to More >
Shahid rushes to Priyanka’s rescue?
0Moments after he arrived from Chandigarh at Mumbai, Shahid rushed to Film City to pick up Priyanka after she complained of a stomach upset
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 24, 2011)
On January 11, 2011 Mumbai Mirror reported with pictures on Shahid and Priyanka’s tête-à-tête at the T-20 match in Durban. A few days ago, Shahid told a section of the media, “I am okay being seen with Priyanka.” And now, the otherwise guarded Sasha is going all out in expressing his love for Priyanka.
On Saturday, Sasha drove all the way to Film City, where his ladylove was shooting; he heard she was feeling unwell. Not only did he rush there the moment he learnt this, he also brought her back home in his car. “Oh, how much he cares for her! You have to see it to believe it,” says a friend close to the couple.
The story goes that Priyanka had a very hectic morning on Saturday while promoting her film 7 Khoon Maaf. After the promotion round was over, she had a bout of food poisoning. “She ate something that didn’t agree with her system,” revealed a source. Soon, she had a very bad stomach ache.
She somehow reached her car, got in and left for Film City (Goregaon East), where she was supposed to shoot with Shah Rukh Khan for Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2. “Naturally, she couldn’t skip a shoot where Shah Rukh was waiting. Mid-afternoon, Shahid landed in Mumbai. He was in Chandigarh shooting for Mausam,” says the source.

SRK, Big B and Judi Dench to spread education
0Underprivileged kids in India get shot at better life
Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; January 24, 2011)
It cannot get any bigger or better than this! Two icons of Bollywood and a heavyweight Hollywood A-lister are coming together to support the cause of education among the underprivileged in India. Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Judi Dench will be working in tandem to promote education among the low-income groups of the country with the sole aim that when these kids become bread-winners, they will have a better life and in turn provide better opportunities to their children.
And bringing these top actors together is none other than the Oscar-winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty. His foundation has been silently working towards bettering the socio-economic conditions of the poverty struck groups but he believes that the time has come to go top gear. “It is unimaginable that even in the 21st century there is rampant illiteracy in India. We are making our presence felt in the world and this aspect is something that should definitely be tackled. Along with economy and cultural boom, India should not be spoken as a country that is also illiteracy stricken,” Resul told BT.
He added, “Without Amitabh Bachchan’s blessing, my project would have not started at all. He has helped me with funds and goodness. It is time to implement new things. Just when I was planning different things, Judi Dench came to my rescue. She had More >
