After the Jaan-e-Maan debacle in 2006, Shirish Kunder will finally direct Joker, his ambitious next
Finally Shirish Kunder is all set to make his ambitious project Joker early next year. The project which Shirish wanted to make immediately after Jaan-e-Mann could not take off for various reasons.
Considering that it was the project closest to Shirish’s heart he tried making it for the last four years. However now finally things have now fallen into place and the film will start in January 2011 with Akshay Kumar playing the lead role.
Our source said, “Joker is a script which is very dear to Shirish. In fact he had planned to make it much before he made his debut with Jaan-e-Mann in 2006. However after the not-so-encouraging response to his debut film, things didn’t go as planned for Shirish. He had written the script of Joker in 2003 and it’s a film with the Joker as the superhero and has a heavy dose of special effects and stunts.
After things didn’t work out between Akshay Kumar and Shirish Kunder four years ago, Shirish planned the film with Salman Khan. However the talks didn’t materialise then. There were also reports that John Abraham had signed the film.
But Shirish kept mum and was quietly working on his project. In between Shirish was also supposed to make a film for Ashtavinayak Cine Vision and SRK; both projects never saw the light of day.
Finally he surprised everyone when he announced Tees Maar Khan as a producer with wife Farah Khan directing and Akshay Kumar being signed as the lead actor.
Now Shirish has tied hands with a corporate house and Akshay Kumar will also co-produce the film. The film will go on the floors in January next year.”
When contacted Shirish Kunder said, “All I can say is that proper announcements with all details will be made jointly with all the parties concerned.”
She will be surprising hubby Sanjay Dutt by flying to South Africa to be by his side on his birthday, July 29
Sanjay Dutt’s spouse Maanyata, who just celebrated her own birthday, can’t stay away from her husband on his 51st birthday on July 29. Inspite of doctors warning her not to travel in her delicate condition (she’s expecting twin babies in January 2011) she has resolved to be by her husband’s side on this important day in his life.
The matter of her travel to South Africa is being kept away from Sanjay Dutt for two reasons. One, she wants to give her husband a birthday surprise (yep, can’t help but spoil the surprise). Two, because she may not be allowed to travel by the concerned husband and papa-to-be if he gets to know her plans for his birthday.
Come what may Maanyata is all set to travel down on July 29th. Says a source close to the couple, “Her heart is set on it. You see, last year, when Sanju turned 50, the couple could not celebrate his birthday because Sanju’s mentor Amar Singh had fallen seriously ill. Emotional man that he is, Sanju cancelled all celebrations. This year he took off for South Africa with his buddies to watch the World Cup and to do a recce for Rascals.”
Earlier she had decided to desist from traveling due to her delicate condition but now Maanyata has taken all precautions. She has been assured by doctors it is safe to travel. Now all she needs to decide on is a suitable birthday gift for her husband. Besides her own presence on the special day, that is.
Having dated each other for over eight years, the couple have finally decided to tie the knot
January 2011 would be a new year indeed for Imran Khan and his long-time sweetheart Avantika Malik; a year of new beginnings that is. After being seen together at every occasion, the couple has finally decided to live with each other as well.
Imran and Avantika, who have apparently been dating each other for over eight years, have mutually decided to tie the knot in January next year. The exact date is however yet to be finalised.

A source close to the couple says, “It will not be a nikkaah. It would be a simple registered marriage. Only a few close friends and family members shall be invited to the ceremony. Imran and Avantika don’t believe in ostentatious preparations. But the wedding arrangements have started.”
Imran does seem to prefer the month of January to others. It was in January this year that he got engaged to Avantika. You wonder if it is an auspicious month for him. The marriage will take place in Mumbai. Currently, Imran is busy working on Kunal Kohli’s Break Ke Baad, post which he is expected to star in Karan Johar’s next, opposite Kareena Kapoor.
Imran confirmed and said, “I haven’t locked the exact wedding date yet since my shooting dates are still uncertain. I want to go on a break from my schedule for a couple of months so that we can do the entire event in a proper manner.”
Wonder what grand plans Maamujaan Aamir has for the wedding?
Ghajini director AR Murugadoss to direct his second Hindi film starring Akshay Kumar; the film will have never-seen-before action
A R Murugadoss has taken his next script for a Hindi film to Akshay Kumar and is all set to direct his second Hindi two years after the all-time grosser Ghajini.
Akshay’s close friend and business associate Vipul Shah, who’s currently producing the Hindi version of the Telugu hit Kakha Kakha with John Abraham, will produce Murugadoss’s second Hindi film.
No stone is being left unturned to make sure the Akshay-Murugadoss team comes up with a whammy as big as Ghajini. Though tightlipped about the project, Vipul Shah is all set to spend a whopping Rs 20-25 crore on the action sequences alone.
Buzz is that Akshay’s brief to the director is: “I’ve a reputation for delivering stunts. Make sure the action rocks.”
Unlike Ghajini, Murugadoss’ second film is not a remake of one of his Tamil-Telugu hits. Speaking from Chennai, the shy and diminutive director says, “Yes, my screenplay for the film with Akshay is an original. Like Ghajini it is basically a love story with a strong action base.”
The film’s shooting starts in January 2011.
On meeting Akshay over the project Murugadoss was told to make the violence “more fun than gory”. The reference to Ghajini’s stomach-churning brutalisation of Asin’s character was not lost on the director who is at the moment busy brushing up his Hindi.
During Ghajini, Murugadoss couldn’t speak or understand a word of Hindi. “But I’m changing that. By the time Akshay and I start working together I’d be much better able to understand Hindi,” he adds.
Though Murugadoss is not yet willing to divulge the name of the female lead in his Akshay starrer, Ghajini gal Asin whom producer Vipul Shah is very fond of and came close to signing for the Hindi remake of Kakha Kakha, is apparently the chosen one.
Two years ago Asin had opted out of making her debut with Akshay in Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan because she had found the role insubstantial.
Not one to hold grudges, Akshay who is constantly looking for fresh co-stars, has given the nod to Asin.
Says Murugadoss, “We haven’t really decided on Akshay’s co-star. But yes, Asin is a strong contender.”
Incidentally Murugadoss’ project with Shah Rukh Khan is still on. “We’ve met and he’s liked my idea. We’ve to work out details,” he says.
Sanjay Dutt and his wife are expecting their first child in January 2011
Almost two months before his 51st birthday (29 July), Sanjay Dutt has received the best gift he could have ever hoped for.
Finally Sanjay and his wife Maanyata Dutt’s agonising wait for parenthood is going to be over. Yes, Maanyata is finally expecting. Apparently, the baby is due in January 2011.
For nearly two years both had expressed an ardent desire to have a child to not only their close friends but also in their press interviews. In fact, a year ago during his 50th birthday Sanjay had said, “Besides my freedom what I really want is to be a father, please pray for me.”

His prayers have been answered. This week the Dutts have been confiding in their close friends about the impending new arrival in their house. Friends who attended a film award event at Colombo with the Dutts first heard the good news there and were thrilled to bits on the ecstatic couple’s behalf.
Though the Dutts don’t have a particular preference about having a son or a daughter, buzz is that Sanjay is hoping it’s a boy since he already has a daughter, Trishala.
Repeated messages to Sanjay and Maanyata inquiring about the good news yielded no response. However, at least three people very close to the actor have confirmed that the actor and his wife are soon expecting a child.
