It’s cheesy but marriage makes you feel like a man-Imran Khan
0Imran Khan, in a freewheeling chat, on Avantika, Ranbir and Kareena
Meena Iyer | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; February 24, 2011)
Forty days after his high-profile marriage to Ms Richie Rich Avantika Malik, Imran has managed a day off. Right this minute he is a ghar jamai because his own bungalow is under renovation. Comfortable in his ma-inlaw’s plush, sea-side apartment, Bollywood’s blue-chip boy gets candid about everyone who has touched his life in the last few days.
How is marriage treating you?
I don’t know. I haven’t had the time to spend time with Avantika. Today is the first free day I have had since I got back from the wedding. We had the last function on January 17. 18th was the travel date and from 19th onwards I’ve been shooting. It is a really hectic time since I’m rushing to finish two films.
Is your bride not complaining?
Eight-and-a-half years into the relationship she knows how I am.
Has marriage changed anything at all?
I don’t know how to say this without sounding cheesy. Somewhere something clicks and you feel, ‘okay now I am a man’. Something happens. My feelings for Avantika were always the same. My closeness to her family is the same. Right now, you and I, are sitting in her mother’s house. Yet within a couple of days after the wedding, something clicked and I felt ‘I’m responsible for this person.’
What happens to the romance after marriage?
I’m not one for the classic notions of romance. I’m a great believer More >
Juhi’s triple celebration for hubby’s 50th
0King Khan was the only celebrity invited by Juhi Chawla to Jodhpur for Jay Mehta’s elaborate half-century bash
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 01, 2011)
Last week, Juhi Chawla threw an elaborate party for hubby Jay Mehta’s 50th birthday in Jodhpur’s Umed Bhavan.
The celebrations went on for three consecutive days starting from January 16 and saw Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi’s closest friend, grace the occasion on January 18, Mehta’ birthday. Apparently, he was the only B-townie invited for the party.
Like a loving wife, Juhi personally looked after all the details. Revealed a source, “Juhi and Jay wanted to do something very different this time. It was not just a party.
The entire celebration lasted for three full days. Everyday had a different theme. On the first day, the theme was old classics, the second day was ‘80s disco night, and the third day was a contemporary bash where people let their hair down.
Even the cuisine on all three days was different, of which Rajasthani and Italian were most relished by the guests.”
Among the guest list of a hundred dear friends and relatives, SRK was the only celebrity guest. “We guess he was the only star that the couple had invited,” said the source.
Occupied with his home production RA.One, SRK managed to juggle his busy schedule and attend the celebrations on the second day. “Everyone was bowled over by his presence. Celebrations mein char chaand lag gaye,” added the source.
I want our every film to be hit-Sunny Deol
0In 55 years of movie business the Deols have never thrown a party.
Now, they are planning a massive celebration. Sunny of course is a teetotaller, but he says, “I just want to freak out, something I’ve never done before.
We’ve never had a celebration party. I am also getting into shape for a full-on action film. I am feeling so relieved and happy. I was completely devoted to YPD for a year. We initially planned it with just Bobby and me. Bobby suggested we bring Papa in.”
The party is a sign of new beginnings. Sunny will revive his directorial venture, titled The Man, with Shilpa Shetty. “I will now decide how to edit The Man. From now on I want no glitches and delays.
I want every film of mine to be completed on time. I want every film of ours to be a hit.” Cheers to that, Sunny!
Kangna, Madhavan dance to Kajra Mohabbatwala
0Tanu Weds Manu will feature the iconic ditty from Kismet
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 18, 2011)
In the season of remakes, the producers of Tanu Weds Manu have brought the rights of the iconic song Kajra Mohabbatwala from the movie Kismet (1968), directed by Manmohan Desai, with Babita and Biswajeet as the lovers in arms.
The song will shine again on screen with Kangna Ranaut and Madhavan replacing the duo of yore.
The film’s original music director is OP Nayyar and is considered one of the biggest song of its times.
Our source said, “The song has not been remixed in the film as it was already immortalized by Shamsad Begum and Asha Bhosle.” When contacted, the director of the film, Anand Rai, said, “Yes, we have acquired the rights of the song Kajra Mohabbatwala.
A still from KismetIt is one of my favourite sequences in the film, and Kangna has done a marvellous job in it.

Ritesh-Genelia show PDA at Akki’s bash?
0Ritesh and Genelia, a duo which has been together since 2002 but has always kept their affair under wraps, finally danced like no one’s watching
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 18, 2011)
It took eight years but it’s official now. On Sunday night, at Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna’s 10th wedding anniversary party at their Juhu residence, Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza held hands and danced passionately with each other.
For the first time they made it amply clear with their body language that they are nothing but a couple.
It now seems as though Ritesh and Genelia had come prepared to the party; that they had decided to throw all caution to the wind. And they did just that.
Said an eye-witness, “They were together throughout the party. Their common friends, who usually hang out with them, hadn’t accompanied them this time.”
Sorry Jacqueline. Guess Ritesh’s rumoured affinity to her can be buried now. We don’t know if she was invited to Akshay and Twinkle’s anniversary party or not but she wasn’t seen there. For good reason, we suppose.
Added the witness, “Akshay and Twinkle’s party rocked. The decoration, food, drinks and ambience were outstanding.
But the khullam khulla attitude Ritesh and Genelia had was something that we have never seen before and will go down in history.
They have always been the shy and reticent types. This was the first time they let their hair down to publicly acknowledge their feelings for each other.”

Will KJo-Kashyap union see the light of day?
0Even though Johar and Kashyap were eager to co-produce Vikramaditya Motwane’s next Maqbalo, the director has stalled the film for now, saying he is unsure of the script
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 18, 2011)
Anurag Kashyap joining hands with Karan Johar might have been a collaboration to look forward to.
Though from very different schools of filmmaking, both KJo and Kashyap were all set to co-produce Vikramaditya Motwane’s film, Maqbalo.
However, in a unique turn of events, the director has now asked the producers to give him more time, as he does not want to make the film at the moment. Apparently, Vikram has moved on to make another film in the interim.
Our source said, “Karan and Anurag are called industry enemies. Both have mocked each other many times in the past. Hence, their coming together shocked many in Bollywood.
However, they joined hands, because they saw a lot of potential in Vikram’s script. The film has an ensemble cast and the script had already been narrated to Anil Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. However, Vikram started feeling that he was not very happy with the script and asked the producers for more time.”
Despite being backed by biggies like KJo and Kashyap, Vikram has decided not to make Maqbalo right now. Known as a perfectionist in the industry, Vikram is quite clearly waiting for a suitable time to make his film, as he is still unsure of the current script.
When contacted, Anurag Kashyap confirmed the More >
Veena, Hrishant caught making out?
0Model and aspiring actor Hrishant Goswami and Veena Malik were seen passionately making out
Smrity Sharma | TNN (MUMBAI MIRROR.COM; January 18, 2011) Veena Malik and Hrishant Goswami
Even as reports of Veena-Ashmit’s sex escapades in Bigg Boss 4 house do the rounds, we have learned that the Pakistani seductress also has hots for yet another ex-contestant on the show.
The dude who has caught Veena’s attention is none other than model and aspiring actor Hrishant Goswami.
It is known that Bigg Boss 4 host Salman Khan threw a bash after the show’s grand finale. What not many know is that a new love story was born at the party. Just that, the male protagonist Ashmit was replaced by Hrishant. Confused? Hear this…
According to sources present at the party, Veena and Hrishant let their hair down and lost themselves to excessive booze. Both the contestants were seen getting cosy with each other. Finally, they got so drunk that they couldn’t handle themselves anymore and decided to go to their rooms.
As the party was held at Salman’s farmhouse at Panvel, Veena and Hrishant got into the car and asked the driver to take them to the famous Dukes resort nearby. A source revealed, “Both Hrishant and Veena were very drunk and they had already started getting intimate at the party. We later learned that they asked the driver to take them to Dukes.” Sources also have it that on the way the two couldn’t help but get into a passionate make out More >
Saali is not a gaali-Sudhir Mishra
0Sudhir Mishra on being asked to change the title of his film Yeh Saali Zindagi by Censor Board chief Sharmila Tagore
Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 18, 2011)
Censor chief Sharmila Tagore’s displeasure at the title of Sudhir Mishra’s new film Yeh Saali Zindagi has the director fuming. He is now being pressurised to retain the original title Dil Dar-ba-dar but Sudhir is not planning to.
“How can I? Large amounts of money have been spent on the posters, says Sudhir, “We cannot change the title. And the trailer was sent to the Censor Board on October 1, 2010, which they had passed.
It’s not as if my title has taken them by surprise. I think she (Tagore) was expressing a personal opinion.
Saali is not a gaali. It is used affectionately here. The title is a metaphor on the vagaries of life. Language typifies the mood of the times.
I don’t understand one thing. There’s so much suggestive content and dialogue on television. Why are there so many objections to what goes into cinema when film viewing is a voluntary act? Don’t watch it if you don’t want to.”
Sudhir wonders if it’s the gender of the term that bothers Tagore. “Because the word saala was used in the song Saala main to sahab ban gaya in Sagina more than 40 years ago.
More recently the song Pappu can’t dance saala had the word too. And isn’t there a song with the word Saali in No One Killed Jessica as well?”
Taking it personally, Sudhir adds, “So many films with adult content More >
Hostel: Gritty reality unleashed
0BOMBAY TIMES (January 18, 2011)
Few Indians are aware of the number of suicides that occur in Indian hostels as a result of the phenomenon termed as ‘ragging’. This sadistic practice has become a ritual wherein students are beaten up, stripped, paraded naked, starved, tortured, molested and even raped by their seniors. Since victims of ragging find it humiliating to report sexual abuse to their parents or others, most ragging-related crimes go unreported. Sadly, these very students – who suffer silently at the hands of their seniors – in turn vent their frustrations by ragging their juniors in the following years. Thus, this cruel practice continues year after year and has claimed (and is still claiming) the lives and careers of innumerable students. The film Hostel by Manish Gupta is a shocking eye-opener about this evil practice and is a wakeup call for all of us. The movie is slated to open on January 21st.
