VICKY DONOR too had steady collections and collected 2.06 crore in sixth week. The film collected 38.41 crore till date.
From the last week releases, only ARJUN-THE WARRIOR PRINCE excelled and collected around 2 crore. The rest of the films were sadly, disastrous.

MEN IN BLACK 3 had a good weekend as it collected around 11 crore nett in its first weekend. It is the sixth highest Hollywood opening weekend after 2012, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4, THE AVENGERS, HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 and AVATAR
The film did very well in English and decent business in its dubbed format. MEN IN BLACK 3 should have around 25 crore lifetime nett business as the flow of hindi films will start this week with ROWDY RATHORE.
A 25 crore nett final total will put it amongst the top ten grossers of Hollywood in India.

ARJUN-THE WARRIOR PRICE had a bad opening but picked up gradually over the weekend. The filn has got positive response from the critics and audiences, alike. The 3-day collection amounts to 1.10 crore

KAHAANI had grossed 5.50 crore nett in its third weekend while VICKY DONOR grossed around 3.75 crore nett. The top third weekend collection was the 8 crore nett of HOUSEFULL 2.
ISHAQZAADE will have the fourth best third week collections of 2012 and have business in the range of 44.5-45 crore nett in three weeks.

Ram Gopal Varma’s Department has emerged a huge disaster with a 11.50 crore nett in its first week. The film collected around 8.25 crore in the weekend and the balance 3.25 crore in the weekdays. It also had a huge drop on the 8th day with very low collections. DISASTER. ———————————- ISHAQZAADE meanwhile continued to dominate with admirable collections. WILL DEPARTMENT SCORE AT THE BOX OFFICE?
2012 is a year of dark horses. Films which made no hype at all during their shooting turned out to be the best. Paan Singh Tomar, Kahaani, Vicky Donor, Ishaqzaade…all of them had no stars but had good treatment and script to boast of. In comparison, Department is much better as it’s helmed by Ram Gopal Varma and stars popular actors like Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati. The film hasn’t generated hype but there are high chances that it would be the fifth dark horse of the year.
Department is about the Mumbai Police and deals with a secret organization formed within the force to eliminate criminals illegally and in a swift manner. There were reports that the film is based on the Hollywood film LA Confidential which turned out to be a rumour. The film boasts of hordes of talented actors. There’s Bachchan saab but he has a supporting role. Sanjay Dutt is in the lead along with Rana Daggubati (of Dum Maaro Dum fame). Nathalia Kaur is the item girl who dominated the publicity strategy which allegedly irked the other heroines in the film, Anjana Sukhani and Southern sensations Madhu Shalini and Laxmi Manchu! Then there’s also Abhimanyu Singh (Ransa of Gulaal) and Vijay Raaz. And Deepak Tijori will be seen after a long time in the film!

ISHAQZAADE has a good first weekend as it grossed around 15.81 crore nett as per early estimates over its first weekend. The film has fared very well in UP with a big jump on Sunday at all centres in the state. Breakdown:
Friday 4.54 crore Saturday 5.15 crore Sunday 6.12 crore
ISHAQZAADE has done well all across with even single screens having very good collections for a new star cast film. Infact the single screen performance of the film is probably better than multiplexes.
The film is a winner and the weekend trending suggests that collections on Monday should hold up well.

DANGEROUS ISHHQ could not pick up after a dull start on Friday. The film collected 3.75 crore in 3 days. Breakup:

The film was very dull in urban centres like Mumbai and Delh. The best areas were CP Berar and CI. Single screens were low but had better collections than multiplexes comparitively. Delhi/UP collected 65 lakhs nett, East Punjab collected 23 lakhs nett, CP Berar was 22 lakhs nett and CI grossed 21 lakhs nett.
There is not much hope for the film on weekdays but with such low collections the downside is limited and the film can see its week out with steady but low collections.

Ishaqzaade director Habib Faisal and actress Parineeti Chopra explain their position against criticism levelled against the film

Barely days since Ishaqzaade released, and some critics are lambasting the film as regressive and sexist. This, despite the film amassing nearly Rs 10 crore in the first two days. One of the grievances is director Habib Faisal has turned a firecracker of a character (Parineeti’s Zoya) into yet another spunk-less pushover, transforming a genuinely energetic film into a wet blanket.
However, Faisal and Parineeti seem amused by all this attention. Ribbed about the negative publicity, Parineeti quips, “I play a janwar in the film.” So why and how is the janwar tamed? “That’s because of the people I face. Woh mardon ki haveli hai and only Arjun’s mother counts there. They don’t know how to treat girls. My character is almost raped by her so-called husband (Arjun Kapoor). What can she do but wipe back the tears and attack him? She is a girl in letter and spirit.” Parineeti explains her character has never been kissed before. The inevitable happens: she falls in love. “Obviously, she is affected. And I totally disagree she is regressive. One shouldn’t forget girls and boys are way different at heart. Besides if people are asking why Zoya, who is depicted as a strong girl, suddenly gets gagged and tortured, why can’t they see a tall, well-built man is countering her?” says the effervescent actress.

ISHAQZAADE has done well on day one with collections around the 4.50 crore nett as per early estimates. The early collections suggest the following circuit totals. (approx figures).
Delhi/UP – 90 lakhs East Punjab – 35 lakhs CI – 20 lakhs CP Berar – 30 lakhs Rajasthan – 30 lakhs
Mumbai circuit should easily cross the 1.50 crore nett mark and may even be around 1.75 crore nett.
The opening day is a lot better than KAHAANI and VICKY DONOR as performance of ISHAQZAADE is pretty good in both multiplexes and single screens whereas KAHAANI and VICKY DONOR collected mainly at multiplexes. KAHAANI was released on 1100 screens, VICKY DONOR on 600 screens and ISHAQZAADE is around 1200 screens.

DANGEROUS ISHHQ, meanwhile, had a dull opening of around 10-15%. The 3D version was slightly better but still at very low levels.
Last year HAUNTED which was the first 3D film in India also started slowly but picked up on Saturday. The opening of DANGEROUS ISHHQ is lower than Haunted as the latter was a horror film and horror films have a good market in some territories.
DANGEROUS ISHHQ will have to show a big jump in business to make an impression and a big jump will be tough as there is a lot of competition in the form of ISHQZAADE, regional films and holdover films like JANNAT 2 , THE AVENGERS and VICKY DONOR all competing for a share of the market.
