Hrithik Roshan was spotted at south Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital a week back, undergoing various medical tests.

He was advised bed rest at the time. Mumbai Mirror finds out that the actor who has been suffering from Repetitive Stress Injuries (RPI’s) due to his busy schedule, has been advised 10 more days of bed rest. In fact, his doctor insisted that Hrithik should go on a break. However, the actor seems to be ignoring the doctor’s advice as he is scheduled to shoot for his film Agneepath today at Madh Island.

Dr Sanjay Desai who had advised Hrithik to undergo an MRI and a few blood tests, said, “I have asked him to take another ten days of bed rest.” Desai, who is a joint replacement surgeon, added that Hrithik’s condition was an outcome of continuous pressure on his joint muscles and his back. He was working for 14-16 hours a day juggling between the shoot for Agneepath as well as his dance show on television.

“The MRI reports clearly showed that his joint muscles as well as his back were abused to the maximum. These injuries are termed as RPI’s or overuse injuries,” said Desai.

“What was worse, Hrithik, despite being overworked used to workout in the gym to relax himself. So I asked him to just stop everything and just lie low,” added Dr Desai.

Little film action for female stunt artistes

0

Bharti Dubey | TNN (THE TIMES OF INDIA; May 1, 2011) While male stunt performers are scaling new heights in the film industry, job opportunities for their female counterparts have hit a plateau with more actresses preferring to do their own stunts.

Industry experts say the number of stuntwomen has reduced and many are forced to double up as junior artistes to earn a living. Stuntwoman Anu Ansari, who has been in the film industry for 15 years, says: “The volume of work has reduced considerably, so I take on small roles in films and television serials. I played the role of a maid in Ramgopal Varma’s Phoonk 2.’’ Safety is also an important concern, says the mother-of two, who prefers stunts like “rolling on the ground and jumping out moving cars”.

Geeta Tandon became a stuntwoman to support her family. Over the years she has jumped from building rooftops and performed hairraising stunts on bikes. She says, “It helps that I love action scenes, and when I was offered a job as a stuntwoman I jumped at it.’’ But jobs are hard to come by as actresses prefer doing their own stunts. In fact, stars like Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif performed in their own action scenes for Don and Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara respectively.

Chopra says: “I love the adrenaline rush. I did a lot of my stunts in Don including the fight with Shah Rukh Khan on top of the van. I learnt the Brazilian art form Capoeira for a TV commercial and Gakta—a Sikh martial art More >

Hrithik’s injury: possibly a good omen

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 05, 2011)

Hrithik Roshan got injured yesterday morning, while shooting for his film Agneepath in Versova. The scene required Hrithik to break a coconut on the ground.

During one of the several takes, he injured his fingers. Only when the scene was cancelled, did someone realise that Roshan’s hand was bleeding.

A source tells us, “Hrithik’s hand had a deep cut, which was bleeding profusely. The shoot was halted until he received first aid.”

Certainly not out of sadistic pleasure but superstition alone, producer Karan Johar would be pleased because whenever any actor is injured and bleeds on the sets, the film turns out to be a super hit.

The choreographer-turned-director Remo D’Souza whose film F.A.L.T.U opened to a surprisingly receptive audience this Friday, suffered a serious burn injury on Saturday when a fire cracker burst in his right hand. He was rushed to the hospital immediately.

Speaking on Sunday about the injury the soft-spoken Remo whose celebrations have been put on hold by this setback said, “It is pretty serious. My right hand is burnt. I will have to get the hand dressed at the hospital every day for some time. Luckily no permanent damage was done.”

Remo was in a double-celebration mood when this injury happened. “We were getting such encouraging box-office reports and it was also my birthday on Saturday. We were bursting crackers and I burst one in my right hand by mistake. I guess God decided to let me feel some pain with the pleasure. But it turned out to be quite painful.”

The actor had hurt his hip bone while shooting; now has a physiotherapist stationed on his set in Goa

Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; March 27, 2011) Ajay Devgn has a doctor, a personal trainer and a couple of unit hands specially designated to look after him during the current Singham schedule in Goa. The actor who is performing very strenuous stunts has been advised to sit on an ice pack when he returns to his chair between shots. The actor is in so much pain that after pack up, the doctor (a leading Mumbai physiotherapist) accompanying him has to treat him with light and also make him do some exercises to ease his pain. Sources say that the actor injured himself 20 years ago while shooting a movie with Karisma Kapoor. “It is that injury that is now troubling him,” says a unit hand. Ajay and Karisma have done films like Jigar and Dhanwan and were even dating each other around that time. Ironical, that Ajay’s injury should come back to haunt him now, though for 12 of those 20 years the superstar has not exchanged even a word with Karisma.

Actor approached for desi version of Survivor

Roshni K Olivera (BOMBAY TIMES; March 24, 2011) John Abraham might just be the next Bollywood star to make his TV debut. The actor has been approached to host the desi version of the popular reality show, Survivor. The show is likely to go on air in a couple of months and many TV actors have already been tapped to participate in it. While the talks with John are still on, there are two more names doing the rounds — Ajay Devgn and Arjun Rampal. “The channel’s considering these two stars as well, to host the show. It’s after all the biggest show for them,” says a source. Both Ajay and Arjun have made their foray into television, but only as judges (Ajay judged the show Rock and Roll Family with wife Kajol and mother-in-law Tanuja and Arjun was a judge on Nach Baliye 4). So who will eventually host Survivor among the three? Well, with their ‘fit and fab’ image, all of them seem perfect for the job.

ABOUT SURVIVOR In this show, a group of people are marooned on an island. Apart from being voted out, often contestants get eliminated owing to medical conditions such as injury or infection as the show is physically very challenging. The last two or three survivors face a jury composed of the last seven, eight, or nine players voted out. That jury interrogates the final few and then votes for the winner of the game. The American version has been very successful. It’s considered the mother of More >

John’s injury won’t delay Force

0

By Joginder Tuteja, March 14, 2011 – 11:27 IST

Despite a recent accident where John Abraham fell on a heap of stones and an injury scare that followed; his Force is well on track. In fact, the film’s producer Vipul Shah states that there won’t be any change in the shooting schedule despite Force being marred with mishaps at regular intervals ever since it was launched late last year.

“Yes, John did meet with an accident but that shouldn’t hamper the progress of Force. We are going ahead with full force. Pun intended”, laughs Shah when questioned if he was now having any nervous bouts due to the recent incident.

Of course Vipul was nervous early on when the incident actually took place a few days back when John had to perform a stunt scene on two moving trains. However, since a major portion of the film has already been shot and Force is well marching towards completion, Vipul is confident that the team would be able to make up for the lost time.

Force is already 90% complete and we would be wrapping up the shooting portions in April. This is pretty much as per what he had originally planned and hence there is no worrying factor”, says Vipul who is happy to have given the reins of direction to Nishikant Kamat of Mumbai Meri Jaan fame.

In fact the filmmaker, whose only other production earlier where he hasn’t been a director is blockbuster Singh Is Kinng, is now devising plans around the film’s marketing and promotion. He is aiming for a release in August/September More >

Boman injured in an accident

Kathika Kandpal (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 28, 2011)

Acting is not a bed of roses; it has its share of hardships too. On Saturday afternoon, while shooting at a suburban college for Jackky Bhagnani’s relaunch vehicle F.A.L.T.U, Boman Irani accidentally bumped into a glass separation and hurt his head.

Producer Vashu Bhangnani said, “We were sitting down to eat lunch. Boman walked into the clear glass seperator and hurt himself. However, he still completed the shoot.”

He was feeling drowsy after taking heavy antibiotics. The pain however worsened but Boman put up a brave front and left the location only after finishing his bit.

Despite repeated text messages, Boman remained unavailable for comment
