The incident happened around a fortnight ago. Kharbanda was immediately rushed to a hospital. He is now bedridden and will be out of action for nearly three months.

When contacted, Raja Bundela, the director of the film said, “We were shooting at Panna in MP when Kulji fell off the horse. I am extremely sad that he got injured during my shooting.

While riding a horse, the actor got a bit too excited and had a fall. A horseshoe injured him. We normally take all the precautions but these things happen and no one has control over such mishaps and accidents.”

When contacted, a convalescing Karbanda said, “The doctor has advised me to take rest. I don’t know when I will be fit again, but it is a long process.

It might take at least three months. I have two fractures and right now, I can’t shoot, as I can’t even get up from my bed. The doctor will decide as to when I might be able to get back on my feet.”

We wish him a speedy recovery.

SRK’s new reality show is proving physically challenging to participants

Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; January 19, 2010)

Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming TV reality show being made in Argentina, has apparently sent some key contestants packing. No, they haven’t been eliminated. In this version of the hit international series Wipeout (also made in Argentina), the Indian participants play on till the end. But SRK’s players, it is learned, have been rendered hors de combat by the exciting reality competition featuring various obstacle courses. Payal Rohatgi, Gaurav Chopra and Akash Deep Saigal are among those counted injured.

Payal and Gaurav have returned to Mumbai to lick their wounds; she, it is believed, suffered a hairline fracture on the hand and he pulled a muscle. Five others are said to be nursing niggling injuries but are valiantly going ahead with the show. Fortunately, the contestants are covered in case there is an injury. And the injured can come back as wild card entries. Gaurav, apparently, is keen on doing so, though Payal seems doubtful of returning. The actress, keeping the existing contract in mind, declined to talk about the show; but Gaurav gave it full marks. “It was unfortunate what happened. It is a physically challenging show. Safety precautions are in place but accidents are bound to happen,” he said.

Akash Deep, however, who is also on the injured list and been advised to return home, is said to be More >

On the eve of Makar Sankranti, Sonam Kapoor sent a letter to Mitali Rudra, the principal of Arya Vidya Mandir School (of which, she too was a student) on behalf of PETA, to encourage the children to never use cruel and deadly glass-coated manja. In the letter, Kapoor pointed out that thousands of birds – as well as many people, including children – have been injured and killed by glass-coated manja. On this occasion, Sonam said “The kites send a positive message to children, encouraging them to prevent the suffering of birds by using only string which has not been coated with glass. I would also like to relay this message to all your students: study hard, be goal-oriented and be compassionate. You can start by showing compassion and not using glass-coated string.”

As many are aware that the manja used in kite-flying competitions is often gummed and coated with powdered and finely crushed glass, making it lethal for pigeons, crows, kites, owls and other birds who become entangled after the strings get caught in trees or on poles. Thousands of birds are killed by glass-coated manja every year, and many people have been killed by it as well.

Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 17, 2010)

It seems Sonam Kapoor is falling off time and again, which has resulted in her getting hurt. Sonam was shooting a song, choreographed by Bosco-Ceaser, with Abhishek Bachchan in Goa for Abbas-Mustan’s Players.

A source from the unit reveals, “In the song, Sonam is suppose to fall off from the stage on her hand, and unfortunately, it didn’t happen as the choreographer wanted. They made her fall off the stage over 17 times, to get the shot correctly. Result- Sonam ended up bruising her hand.”

The source adds, “Apart from falling and bruising herself, Sonam barely slept, since it had been raining all day long and that disrupted the shooting schedule. To get the perfect lights she had to wake up at 3am to deliver the shot.”

Ranbir injures Priyanka

A bit too involved in enacting a running sequence for Anjaana Anjaani, Ranbir didn’t notice that Priyanka had fallen and hurt her head and leg very badly

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 09, 2010)

Ranbir Kapoor is living up to the title of his next film Anjaana Anjaani, but in an odd way. Clueless, that while shooting he was running hand in hand with Priyanka Chopra, who had long tripped, fallen and hurt herself, Ranbir continued acting.

Only later did he realise that Priyanka, who had stopped running with him a while ago, was actually lying mid-way on the ground with a bleeding leg and an angry look on her face, we presume.

Obviously, Ranbir was caught up, either with acting or something we’re not aware of. Otherwise, such things are unheard of in the industry. Sure enough, the actor was seen apologising profusely to Priyanka later.

Our source from the unit says, “Ranbir and Priyanka were shooting for a scene where they were trying to get away from a situation. Priyanka was wearing high heels and running. Ranbir got involved in the scene and with increased speed, started pulling her, when she  suddenly tripped and fell.

On turning around later, he saw that Priyanka had fallen down and her leg was bleeding. He obviously went out of his way to make her feel comfortable after that.”

Director Siddharth Anand too was witness to this incident and in his version there is an added staircase. He says, “They were running holding hands and there More >

Katrina, Hrithik to witness bullfight in Spain

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 03, 2010)

Katrina Kaif has always dreamt of witnessing a bullfight and finally, her dream is about to materialise. Zoya Akhtar’s film, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara has a scene that has Katrina and Hrithik Roshan watching one.

Hrithik and Katrina are gearing up to fly to Pamplona, Spain, where they would witness the bullfight. A source says, “Pampalona is the land of bullfighting. It is almost impossible to buy tickets for the bullfights there. 90% of the ring is reserved for season-ticket holders. A lot of preparation is going into getting this shot ready. It will be a very crucial scene in the film.”

Hrithik Roshan Katrina Kaif

Abhay Deol, who also stars in the film, may join Katrina and Hrithik in Pamplona. “The details for that are being worked out,” adds the source.

Despite repeated calls to the producer of the film, Ritesh Siddhwani, we could not get a response. However, a source from the film said, “Katrina is very excited; she loves adventure. The bullfight is literally a dance with death. The bullfighter has to carefully examine and study the movements and strengths and weaknesses of the bull. One wrong step and he might end up seriously injured.” Hope Katrina and Hrithik don’t get too excited and remember to stay within boundaries.
