How Palande killings have affected Oshiwara’s filmis
0By Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 28, 2012)
Until the time a certain Simrin Sud got embroiled in the crime of the year, it was an address that the residents were proud of. But the stellar residents of Oberoi Springs on Link Road, Andheri, are being subjected to a curious form of profiling post Karan Kakkad’s murder by Vijay Palande.
Members of the film industry fill up most of the flats in the three wings of the complex. And they include veterans, outcasts and even those with no more than a toe-hold in filmdom. Imtiaz Ali, Chitrangda Singh, Vipul Shah, Aneez Bazmee, Sherlyn Chopra are just some of the names you will find at the foyer leading to the towers. And while they may not exactly be on excellent neighbourly terms, they are now bound by a common refrain – life has become very difficult, they say, for their guests as they are subjected to severe scrutiny by the cops stationed at the gates and the security gaurds. It is embarrassing they complain, for the esteemed guests and family members to be subjected to such grilling even before they can step inside the complex.
A filmmaker, who lives in the A-wing said, “Ever since the case exploded, our society is teeming with cops. Even on Friday afternoon, the cops were at B wing. Till Wednesday, the complex was buzzing with the media people. And now security has been beefed up, causing inconvenience to the visitors.”
Interestingly, the security seems to be especially tight for tenants from the film industry. More >
Imtiaz Ali roots for Shahid Kapoor?
0Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 13, 2012)
It’s true. First impressions are almost always the most lasting.Director Imtiaz Ali and wife Preeti have decided to cast their blue-eyed boy Shahid Kapoor as leading man in a film Preeti is producing for UTV Motion Pictures, which is a remake of the 2009 South Korean flick My Girlfriend Is An Agent. Interestingly, Bosco of Bosco Caesar will make his directorial debut with this film.
A source close to the project told Mirror, “Imtiaz was very happy with Shahid’s work in Jab We Met. Bebo and he got a lot of taalis in the film. Shahid’s role won many accolades. It wasn’t an easy role but he did it with so much conviction. Ever since, Imtiaz has wanted to work with Shahid. Preeti too loved his acting in the film.”
As for Shahid, he has simply loved the offer, the source revealed, adding, “The modalities are being worked out. He may not do UTV’s Hindi remake of Vettai but he might just do this film for them now.”
Despite repeated attempts, Imtiaz remained unavailable for comment.
Nothing wrong in being in love-Nargis Fakhri
0Nargis Fakhri believes in saying the truth, unluckily all that has been so far said in the media, isn’t so
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 24, 2012)
Once again you are in the news for your alleged linkup with an actor. What’s the truth about Shahid Kapoor and you? I am not dating Shahid Kapoor. I met him while performing at an awards ceremony. It was my first and I was nervous. Shahid was supportive. We have been friends since then. Can’t one have both guy and girl friends? Why is having dinner, lunch or coffee with a friend such a big deal?
You flew down with Shahid for his birthday in Goa and then were spotted at a five star having dinner… For his birthday, I was invited. I thought I would have a nice time with people I know. I never thought it would become such a big deal. As for the dinner, a common friend planned it. Five of us met up after a long time.
You’ve been linked to Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali earlier… They were just rumours. And I can’t be bothered with them.
Does it feel weird to be constantly scrutinized? It comes with the job. But I would like the media to tell the truth. I am someone who will happily say the truth. I don’t feel the need to hide from anyone. I see nothing wrong in love or being in love.
Rockstar was a big hit. But the critics were a bit harsh on you. Is that why you are waiting to sign your next project? I am not being choosy. There are things in the pipeline. I don’t want to rush. I did not know what to expect from Rockstar. More >
Good old-fashioned romance dead in Bollywood?
1Bharati Dubey | TNN (THE TIMES OF INDIA; March 11, 2012)
A blasé Kareena Kapoor speaks about having sex to Imran Khan in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Imran and Katrina Kaif pair up, leaving Imran’s brother in the cold in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Coyness, romance, sacrifice in love… none of these once-vital elements in Bollywood exist any more. Romance speaks a different language.
“The grammar of love has undergone a sea change,” says screenwriter Mushtaq Sheikh. “From the speed to the language, the entire process of falling in love has changed. The young are in a hurry. They have no time to wait to fall in love or even be selfless about it. They want results. And if they are spending time falling in love, they need to see what they are getting back in return.”
Flash back to the days when love did not declare itself. Lovers then chose to convey their emotion silently—a shy note, a quiver of the lips… and an endless wait. Recalls writer Dilip Thakur, “There used to be a build-up to the first eye contact between the hero and heroine, be it Rajendra Kumar’s hand brushing against Mala Sinha’s in Dhool Ka Phool, Rajesh Khanna singing Mere sapnon ki rani in Aradhana or Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol crossing each other’s path before meeting on Eurorail in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.”
Films like Break Ke Baad, Delhi Belly or the recent Rockstar are anything but love at first sight or virginal. However, the last did have a resonance later of the self-destructive Devdas, an old favourite. But More >

0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, November 10, 2011 – 13:03 IST
One of the most awaited films, Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar is finally releasing tomorrow. The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor along with newcomer Nargis Fakhri, has been in the news since the time it was announced.
While the promos have caught on big time, not many know that besides Nargis there is yet another actor who makes his debut in the film. The actor in question is a Brazilian model called Moufid Aziz. Moufid plays the role of Nargis’ husband in the film.
Moufid has been a successful model and caught the fancy of Imtiaz Ali who decided to cast him as a Kashmiri in the film opposite Nargis Fakhri. One will have to wait and watch if Moufid manages to deliver the goods.

UTV-Imtiaz Ali to remake Korean flick
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, November 10, 2011 – 12:26 IST
Until recently some of our filmmakers used to blatantly copy Hollywood and other foreign films. However, now it seems that bagging the official remake rights seems to be the order of the day. While we already have quite a few official remakes in the pipeline, UTV has gone ahead and acquired the remake rights of South Korean film My Girlfriend Is An Agent (MGIAA). The Hindi remake of this will be directed by choreographer Bosco (of Bosco-Caesar fame) while Imtiaz Ali and his wife Preety Ali will be on board as creative producer and co-producer respectively.
MGIAA is the story of two spies who have been assigned on a mission to stop a Russian crime group from stealing an advanced chemical weapon. The film is a wild action rom-com that broke Box Office records when it released in South Korea.

0WHAT WENT WRONG WITH ROCKSTAR?
Imtiaz Ali is a terrific storyteller, as evident from his previous films like Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal (LAK). The first two films had an extremely simple narration while in LAK, he played around with the narration at the commencement which came out so well. In fact, during the opening credits, he gave the viewers entire glimpse of what’s to come next till the finale and yet viewers remain clueless about what to expect even in the next sequence! Hats off!
However, he went a step ahead in Rockstar and tried to move the narration back and forth in a more complicated manner! Alas, he failed this time! The storyline anyway wasn’t that exciting but still I believe one can enjoy a film if it’s executed well. Unfortunately, Imtiaz Ali’s incoherent script and direction messes up things further. To add to it, the film kind of ends abruptly which wasn’t the right thing to do with a film like this. One wishes to know what happened to the central characters and whether they succeed in moving on but alas!
Having said that, the film has its moments which bear the Imtiaz Ali stamp! From the opening sequence (Ranbir getting bashed at one end of the city but treated like a hero at the other) to Ranbir’s so-called ‘heartbreak’ (hilarious) to Ranbir-Nargis indulging in mischief in Delhi to Nargis asking for a hug to Nizamuddin scenes to jugalbandi sequence involving Shammi Kapoor to Ranbir tearing up the contract (‘Image is everything More >
