Imran Khan to restore movies made by his grandfather Nasir Hussain
0Upala KBR (DNA; April 20, 2013)
Imran Khan is planning to restore the films directed by his grandfather Nasir Hussain. The filmmaker had made iconic films in the 1960’s and 1970’s like Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Teesri Manzil and Yaadon Ki Baarat which went on to become super hits. He had also written the dialogues for Aamir Khan’s debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Akele Hum Akele Tum and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and is filmmaker Mansoor Khan’s father.
Says a source close to Imran, “He is a lot into technology. Lately, Imran has been doing detailed research on the best possible way to convert and restore old film reels. He is personally finding out softwares and studios who do these conversions without hampering the film quality. Currently Imran is making sure that his films are digitally enhanced in the best possible way.”
Imran says, “All films of Nasir saab have been taken care of. We have been restoring films on an on-going basis and taking digital back ups. In future we would like to go for enhancement of colour and sound to Dolby Digital.”
Imran and Esha shoot a racy hot number for Gori Tere Pyar Mein?
0BOMBAY TIMES (April 17, 2013)
Esha Gupta and Imran Khan have just shot a racy number together in Gori Tere Pyar Mein, and apparently, both of them have taken the concept of close dancing to a different level. Esha has worn very short dresses and she has Imran grooving all over her. Though Imran has a good-boy image in real life, he has done some serious physical stuff on screen. He has kissed in almost every film of his and is very much game for on-screen display of affection. After shooting with Esha, he did confide in one of his co-stars that the girl is hot. We agree, Imran.
Why Akshay-Sonakshi-Imran weren’t shown on TV even once during IPL Day 1
0Promotional gimmick at Eden Gardens goes horribly wrong as the actor and his co-stars spend futile minutes wooing the cameras
Mehul S Thakkar and Soumyadipta Banerjee (BOMBAY TIMES; April 5, 2013)
What is being made out to be a battle of egos between Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, may be just a case of a publicity gimmick gone wrong. And according to reports, Akshay is not at all pleased to have been dragged into a situation where he is in the path of direct conflict with SRK.
On Wednesday, Akshay, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, were at Eden Garden stadium in Kolkata for the IPL match, not for their love of the game, but to promote their upcoming film Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again.
The strategy, devised by the Balaji team, involved the stars dressing up in identical T-shirts that said: ‘Once Upon a Time in IPL,’ and hanging out at the venue till the cameras were drawn to them. The seemingly harmless plan went awry when the stars arrived at the stadium, took their seats and waited, and waited for their spot in the sun.
They did Mexican waves, they cheered and at one point, Akshay and Sonakshi got up and waved out to the crowd even, but not for a second, did their faces flash on the screens. To make matters worse, at that precise moment, the cameras chose to focus on the crowd waving back at the stars instead.
According to sources, the camera crew was acting on the behest of a certain ‘administration official’ from the the IPL team. And while Akshay and Co More >
Akshay Kumar and OUATIM 2 team play mock quiz on Kolkata flight
0Sonali Joshi Pitale (MID-DAY; April 5, 2013)
We all know how boring it can be to sit for hours on a flight.
But Akshay Kumar knew just the way to entertain his wife, co- stars and crew of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again while flying on a private jet from Mumbai to Kolkata.
A source says, “It was a long journey and Akki came up with the idea to play Kaun Banega Crorepati to pass the time. They divided themselves into two teams — of actors and non-actors.” Apparently both the teams were good at the game and won one round each. The source adds, “Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshay were on one team while Tanuj Garg, Twinkle Khanna and the others were part of the opposite team.” Garg, who is the CEO of the film’s production house says, “We had a lot of fun and my team won the final battle.”
Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan hosted a season of the game show on television a few years ago.
Milan Luthria ensures OUATIM 2 actors don’t miss out IPL matches?
0Upala KBR (DNA; April 2, 2013)
The last schedule of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again begins this month. Apart from other details director Milan Luthria has asked his set designers to construct a special room for his stars Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan to watch the IPL matches.
A source says, “Milan has designed the room himself. He is a big cricket buff and is aware of his actors’ passions. He didn’t want his stars to miss any of the matches. It is an air conditioned room with all the comfort of an A-class movie theatre, a big plasma TV, plush recliners, a pool table, a refrigerator stocked with food and drinks.”
Milan confirms, “It was difficult initially as a lot of people felt who will work if such a room is set up? (Laughs). But we all need to de-stress while shooting. In our last schedule we had a karaoke and pool table. As we all love cricket, I felt we should have an IPL room set up as the matches begin this week. The worst part is not being able to go for the matches so why not have the next best thing — a room where we can watch all the games? So now I know the moment I say ‘cut’ everyone will run to the room!”
Says a source close to Akshay, “Milan told Akshay about it and he was thrilled and touched by the gesture.”

0MUMBAI MIRROR (March 31, 2013)
Film actress Meera, who has also appeared in two Bollywood movies, is expected to contest against cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan during Pakistan’s upcoming general election on May 11. Meera’s mother Shafqat Zohra told reporters that her daughter may contest against Khan, the head of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf party, from a parliamentary seat in Lahore.
“Meera has applied for a PML-N ticket for National Assembly seat 126. If the leadership obliges her, then there will be an interesting contest between the two celebrities,” Zohra said.
Shahid-Kareena replaced by coffee brand after they break up?
0Jigar Shah (MID-DAY; March 30, 2013)
It appears that after Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s relationship has gone kaput, the owners of Bru coffee brand, that features both the actors, have decided not to renew their contract.
Sources say that the one-time couple have been shown the door and have been replaced by former on-screen couple Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma.
A source close to the brand says, “The brand honchos had pitted Shahid and PC against Karan Johar and Deepika Padukone who endorse a rival beverage brand. As both the actors were rumoured to be dating, the brand roped them in as a ‘couple’.” However, Shahid and PC are no longer a couple now. Sources say their contract too has expired.
The source adds, “After much brainstorming, Anushka and Imran’s names were finalised. Both of them have already shot for the ad. They shot for a magazine cover last year and even did a film together.” Some couple caper!
After Aamir, Imran, it’s Vedant Malik for Mansoor Khan
1Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 19, 2013)
Mansoor Khan made quite a splash with his very first film. Released in 1988, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was a blockbuster and introduced the industry to a baby-faced hero who would become one of the most powerful actors of Hindi film industry—Aamir Khan. However, Mansoor’s tryst with the industry was a brief one. After Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Josh and Akele Hum Akele Tum, he took a long sabbatical only to return as a producer for the debut of Aamir’s nephew Imran. And after Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, it seems Mansoor is ready to make another exception. This time it’s for Imran’s brother-in-law Vedant Malik.
While speaking to media in Mumbai a week before Jaane Tu… hit the theatres, Mansoor had explained his hibernation, saying, “This is something I always wanted to do, to not live in the city. Filmmaking was not a reason for or against it. After Josh, I could see my interest wavering. It’s just that when your mindset changes, you follow it. Maybe if I had not followed it, I would have made some terrible films.”
Explaining Mansoor’s return to helm the realisation of Vedant’s dream, a source told Mirror: “Vedant has a keen interest in acting and his brother-in-law Imran is playing an active part in launching him. Aamir takes interest in Imran’s projects and that is how even Mansoor saab came into the picture.”
The source added: “Recently, Mansoor has been spending a lot of time in Mumbai. He is playing a significant role in choosing More >
Esha Gupta to do item number in Gori Tere Pyar Mein
0Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; March 12, 2013)
Item numbers are in vogue and Esha Gupta is the latest B-Town actress to join the list of item girls. The Jannat 2 actress will be performing an item song in Punit Malhotra’s Gori Tere Pyar Mein which is produced by Karan Johar and stars Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
Incidentally, Esha was roped in at the last minute and flew to Bangalore to shoot the song. “Punit had initially decided not to cast any actress for the song but at the nth hour, he changed his mind and decided to cast Esha as she was the first choice. It was sweet on Esha’s part to make herself available on such a short notice and film the song-dance sequences,” says a source from the unit.
Punit adds, “We wanted to shoot the entire song on Imran. However when things got going, choregrapher Remo D’Souza and I decided that since the song is so good we should have someone in the song.
The girl’s part was really nice and so we called Karan and spoke to him and then started chasing Esha and thankfully for us the dates fell is place. Manish Malhotra also came in and styled her. It is basically a club song where Imran is clubbing and Esha fits the bill perfectly.”
