FWICE passes 12 hr deadline law

This will come as a huge respite to everyone in the film and television industry. FWICE (Federation Of Western India Cine employees) has passed a new law that no actor will be allowed to shoot beyond 12 hours in a day. Those who flout this norm will henceforth be penalized for it.
The members of FWICE had wanted to implement this rule for quite some time now. Not so long ago, they raided Ekta Kapoor’s set along with others in the city (Mumbai Mirror, Sep 1, 2010).
Dharmesh TiwariThe FWICE members had started a drive after receiving complaints from various units, that TV producers were making cast and crew work for over 15 hours a day. The drive has finally borne fruit.
“Now, it’s a rule. Several cast and crew members were suffering from health problems, thanks to long hours of shooting,” says Raza Murad, Chairperson of the Dispute Settlement Committee, which facilitated the passing of this law.
Thankfully, the law is not lopsided and makes life easy for both producers and actors.
A time sheet diary is to be maintained by every actor, since producers constantly complain that they are forced shoot beyond 12 hours because actors come very late to shoots.
