By Bollywood Hungama News Network, October 6, 2011 – 00:49 IST

The latest edition of FHM has Malaika Arora Khan as the cover girl. Gosh…has anyone ever kept track of the number of mags for which she has been the cover girl. Whatever be the case, FHM is different as usual.

This edition of FHM has Malaika Arora Khan sizzling like never before! “Some of the sexiest woman in the world are married and have kids…I think being added adds to the charm and the mystery,” she states. And in order to support her statement she ‘drops’ names like Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr and Gisele Bundchen. We totally agree with you gorgeous. Talking about films, she states, “Films never really excited me…I just love the song and dance routine. When I did ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya‘, I thought let me do something that I enjoy. Since I was a kid, dance has been a part of my life in some form or the other.” And talking about music, she says, “I love U2, The Beatles, Santana, Craig David etc…” For all those who wonder as to what this beautiful queen does when she isn’t working, so here it is… in her own words. “I am quite boring when I am not working. It’s usually cleaning or cooking, fetching the kid from cricket practice and going to the gym.”

No fret folks, the saga of Madame Malaika doesn’t end here. It goes on (and pretty well at that) in the latest edition of FHM. Do not miss to pick up a copy to get an inside dope on Malaika!

Pyaar Ka Punchnama lead is Facebook discovery

0

By Joginder Tuteja, May 6, 2011 – 10:27 IST

Newcomer Kartik Tiwari has a lot to thank Mark Zuckerberg. If not for his ‘Facebook’ invention, he wouldn’t have realised the dream of seeing himself on the big screen, as is now been fulfilled with Pyaar ka Punchnama. An absolute outsider with no link whatsoever with the movers and shakers of Bollywood, Kartik was spotted in a casual attire by the makers of this young comedy who pronto decided to invite him for an audition.

“We wanted a newcomer for the lead protagonist in Pyaar Ka Punchnama and the requirement was for a good looking boy who seemed uncorrupted with the world around him, carried a sober look and came across as the perfect lover boy”, informs Abhishek Pathak, the film’s producer, “We were stuck for some time though because whoever came to our office carried that typical ‘filmy hero’ look to him while we wanted someone who was just the boy next door yet very presentable as a lead on the big screen.”

Hundreds of auditions later, Abhishek along with director Luv Ranjan started surfing Facebook to hunt for their lead and came across the profile of Kartik. It was a different matter though that he was in a total ‘masti’ and ‘mazaa’ mode while partying with his friends but instinctively Abhishek and Luv decided to give him a shot.

“We called him for the look test but even after 2-3 rounds, we were not too sure about him”, informs Luv, “Abhishek had totally given up on him and was ready to call for more More >

It’s not for Ghajini 2-Ashish Chaudhary

Ashish Chaudhary was told to lose his muscles as he is playing a girl in his next film

Seema Sinha (BOMBAY TIMES; April 7, 2011) Ashish Chaudhary, who for about a year shed tears and sweat to acquire heavy muscles, now has to let it all go. A year ago, he’d become the butt of jokes among his inner circle of friends. Sohail Khan even asked him if he was Ghajini part 2, after seeing his beefed-up body. The actor who now returns to the big screen with Inder Kumar’s Double Dhamaal, says, “This kind of physicality is not required in the film. I play a girl in the second half. It is a funny film and it needed a certain body language. So, now I have to breakdown all my muscles.” The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Mallika Sherawat. Ashish has been out of circulation since a personal tragedy (he lost his sister and brother-in-law in the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai) struck him. Subsequently, the family business of advertising crashed and the actor took some time off to ‘resurrect’ his life. “It was a testing period for me, I felt devastated. I wanted to spend time with the loved ones, my new born baby, and my family which is my priority. I knew that if I went away for two years, I was risking being forgotten. But I was prepared for that. I stopped interacting with people completely. I was not even available on the phone. I decided to spend time on my own.”

Gym mates Shahid and Bani were spotted at a Bandra nightspot enjoying some yummy bites

Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 04, 2011)

Post break up with Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor seems to be socialising and hanging out at various hot spots. And last Thursday, Shahid was spotted with VJ Bani at a Bandra nightspot.

An eyewitness revealed, “Shahid was accompanied by a male friend and the very popular VJ – Bani J.

Shahid and Bani were having their meal and were seen joking around and having a gala time. Both were there for an hour while having their meal. Bani even emptied a few drinks and all three of them left together.”

A source said, “Apparently, after his breakup with Priyanka, Shahid is on a ‘friend-making’ spree.

During the course of his relationship with Priyanka, he barely went out or socialised. Now that he is single, he is making full use of the freedom.”

When contacted, Bani confirmed, “I was eating out with Shahid. We go to the same gym, and at times our work-out schedules coincide.

We just felt a bit hungry that day and decided to have a meal.”

Is this the beginning of a new story?

Getting into a bikini is serious business-Ameesha Patel

Ameesha Patel flaunts her curves to her advantage

Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; March 30, 2011)

Ameesha Patel was sure that if she wore resort wear then it would have to be something that matched international standards. She and her designer friend Komal Shahani came up with the concept of the crystalised bikini and they worked on it together. Says the actress, “I didn’t want to get into just any bikini. It had to a premium fashion product suitable for a beach in the South of France or in Goa. It isn’t even ideal swimwear; it’s more like something you wear on a chaise lounge.’’

Her mind was made up about the bikini, but she admits that she was extremely nervous about the shoot. “Getting into a bikini is serious business,’’ she says. “You have to look perfect in it because you cannot hide anything; whether it is your midriff or thigh there can be no flab anywhere.’’

The Bollywood beauty then goes to bust a few myths on what to do and what not to before one gets into something so skimpy. Says she, “I was warned not to drink too much water the night before the shoot; I was asked to starve. But I did nothing of the sort. Since I maintain a healthy lifestyle with regular eating habits and a daily-gym routine, I have a good metabolism. I even managed to eat a club sandwich with French fries, ketchup, mustard etc before I got into the bikini!’’

Come April, the actor will move into a pad in Film City

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; March 21, 2011)

Salman Khan lives in Galaxy Apartments, one floor below his parents’ home. He has never had another address in Mumbai. But the actor is moving out, albeit temporarily to a specially built condo in Film City.

The actor will soon commence shooting for the 40-day schedule of Bodyguard. To save on travel time between his house in Bandra and Goregoan, (approximately 90 minutes in traffic) he has decided to move into a specially built apartment on the set. The construction has already begun (See pic). This is the first time that a leading B-town actor will be living on a film set for a long stretch of time.

While the actor lives in a one bedroom apartment in Bandra, his new temporary residence will have two bedrooms and a living area. It will also house a fully operational gym. Producer Atul Agnihotri confirms, “Yes, Salman will be living on the sets. We have decided to build a place that is as close to his actual home. That’s the only instruction that we gave the interior designer. However, we are not going to take anything from his pad to do up this place. We are renting everything out from beds to wardrobes. Salman’s gym will also have everything he needs. There will be a fully loaded kitchen, a big bathroom and an area where he can hang out with his friends who drop in to see him.”

However, Salman’s five dogs will not move in with More >

By Satish Sundaresan, March 8, 2011 – 16:49 IST

He came, he saw and he rocked the show. We are indeed talking about the ‘Terror Man’ Bin Laden. Well, when the whole world thought that he was another name for Fear, a relatively unknown actor called Pradhuman Singh showed the world that Laden could also be comic, through his real-to-life portrayal of Bin Laden in the last season’s biggest hit Tere Bin Laden.

Not the one to rest on his laurels, Pradhuman is now all set to rock and shock the nation yet again… with his brand new avatar in K Sera Sera production’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, to be directed by Rakesh Mehta. Bollywood Hungama‘s reliable sources said that, “Post TBL, Pradhuman had read a lot of scripts. It’s only after a patient thought process, that he finally gave his approval to his character in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, something which has never been played in Bollywood before. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Pradhuman said, “To tell you the very fact, I am not much of a gym person and I simply hate torturing my body. However, in order to justify the look of the character, I made an exception and sweated it out in the gym for a toned look. Not just that, in order to get into the skin of the character, my director wanted me to get a paunch. So, here I was gulping beer day and out!” Singh also added, “This is an experimental character, and in order to get things right, I had done a lot of research and met a lot of people to learn Bengali More >

Sridevi in Balki’s next?

Move over Madhuri, the Hawa Hawai queen Sridevi will soon be seen in a brand new avatar in R Balki’s next

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 24, 2011)

The lead actress of Judaai (1997) could not stay separated from Bollywood for too long; Sridevi had to make a comeback. But contrary to expectations, her husband Boney Kapoor will not relaunch her.

History has it that three years ago, Boney had not let her work in a Yash Chopra film opposite Amitabh Bachchan, arguing that he wanted her to make a grand return in a home-production. Boney told Yash Chopra that he was keen to re-launch his wife in his own production and requested him to cast someone else in his.

At this point, Bachchan’s good friend Amar Singh stepped in to convince Boney to let her do the film, but in vain, (Mumbai Mirror, July 28, 2008).

It turns out Sridevi’s comeback film will be produced by R Balki (of Paa fame) and directed by Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde.

Sridevi plays a woman who does not understand English but gets married to a very upwardly mobile man.

The story revolves around the repercussions of this marriage and the way in which she overcomes the issues. A source says, “Balki and Gauri have worked very hard on this subject for the past few months and are now ready to roll.”

Rumour has it that Sridevi’s comeback was supposed to be announced at Yash Raj Studios during a Kareena Kapoor-Sridevi interaction at a recent TV-film awards ceremony.

Sanjay Dutt injured on sets of Rascals

0

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, February 21, 2011 – 12:43 IST

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy is what everyone must have heard so far. Well, in case of Sanjay Dutt, this saying takes a slight twist, for he is someone who, despite having hurt himself in his gym (which resulted in a hairline injury), continued shooting for Rascals in Pattaya.

The story so far goes that Sanjay Dutt, who is known to be a fitness freak, was working out in the gym after the pack up, when a dumbbell feel on his right foot, thus injuring it. He then was immediately rushed to the Bangkok Pattaya hospital, where the doctors advised him to take complete rest for two days. Dutt, who spent his whole night with ice pack fermentations et al, was keen on finishing off the shoot as Kangna had to return to Mumbai. And due to this working, Sanju’s condition worsened and as a result of his ‘foot-work’, he developed a hairline crack.

But the irony of the story is that, while the doctors have advised rest to Sanjay Dutt, the actor, Sanjay Dutt, the producer of the said film, is finding it difficult to sit idle. But, as a dutiful friend, Ajay Devgn, who also stars in the film, has taken over the responsibilities from Dutt, and will be there to offer support till the time Sanjay is back on his feet ( quite literally!)

Saas-bahu shifts base to Mira Road

Far from the madding Andheri-Goregaon, dramaville has a new address – the distant but affordable Mira Road

Alka Shukla (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 13, 2011)

At Mira Road, in the midst of an unending cavalcade of trucks on the highway, a slew of under-construction towers, dozens of builders’ hoardings persuading readers the suburb is not really that far, and a cluster of factories at Penkar Pada, the last thing you expect is a dash of glamour.

But inside one of the decrepit structures, you are greeted not by the drone of heavy machines but spot boys and lightmen moving shooting equipment and production vans.

The town, considered the last resort way into the ’90s, is now on television.

Separated from Greater Mumbai by a marshy creek, the suburb was just fields until the late ’70s. Even in the late 1990s, it was primarily two large townships Shanti Nagar and Naya Nagar with a few others just emerging.

Now, in 2011, when the population here has crossed the 10 lakh mark, it is fast becoming the small screen’s big location.
