Cricketer Harbajan Singh has often had lengthy discussions with Bollywood superstars on films. He and Geeta Basra are reportedly good friends and his interest in films seemed natural. But now it seems that it isn’t only his relationship that was driving his curiosity. Bollywood casting director Shahid Hassan has been brought on board.

When contacted, the company’s CEO, Avinnash Nanda said that they would reveal their plans at the launch, which is likely to be attended by Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mukesh Ambani and some top politicians.

Call it an occupational hazard. While shooting for her next film Zila Ghaziabad, Geeta Basra suffered from an electric shock.

The actress was dancing atop a rickshaw that was fully lit up when she was in for a rude shock.

Says Geeta, “The rickshaw was fitted with lights and it seemed a bit dangerous. Yes, I got a shock but thankfully it wasn’t anything major.”

Geeta, who stars alongside Vivek Oberoi and Arshad Warsi in Vinod Bachchan’s film, feels that it was quite tough to match her steps with the two actors. She says, “It was a typical Indian rural song with all the latkas and jhatkas. Vivek and Arshad are pros at dancing.”

On asked about her ongoing relationship with spinner Harbhajan Singh, the actress shoots back, “I am not commenting on that! On several occasions, the media has almost married me off to him.”

Looks like Geeta Basra has decided to invest her money in property. While in Bangalore for her upcoming film, Joe B Carvalho, with Arshad Warsi and Soha Ali Khan, Geeta made up her mind to buy a luxury flat in the garden city.

A source from the unit says, “Geeta has loved staying in the city. Although she is not happy with the traffic, she loves the greenery here. She felt that it was an ideal place for her to invest money. During her free time she is scouting various flats. She has more or less zeroed down on some property.” The starlet says, “Right now I am looking at various properties. I have been here many times before but rarely have I stayed for such a long time. I will be finalising the deal in the next two days.”

Geeta Basra, who was missing from the big screen since the past few years is said to be excited about her upcoming film outing. The actress has done a special dance number in the soon-to-release Zila Ghaziabad that stars Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi and Arshad Warsi. But an insider reveals that what makes the song even more special is that giving Geeta company in the song is Arshad, who happens to her very good friend.

According to unit members, the two got along really well as they already share a great comfort level. Arshad who is all praises for the actress shares that it was a delight shooting with her. “Geeta has the ability to transform from a cool city girl to a raunchy village dancer in no time. The song she has done in the film will make audience see her in a different light. I enjoyed shooting with her a lot,” shares Arshad. Geeta, on the other hand, reveals how Arshad had nicknamed her Rani Saheba on the sets and would make sure that everyone called her by that title. Talking about working with Arshad, Geeta says, “I have known Arshad for quite a while actually and we’ve been wanting to work with each other. In Zila Ghaziabad, we had an absolute ball while shooting. We would keep pulling each other’s leg and he had kept my name ‘Rani Saheba’ since the song is Ghaziabad ki Rani. Man suffers cardiac arrest mid-air; Geeta Basra comes to the rescue

Helping hands are better than praying lips! Geeta Basra would say yes as she recently found herself in an emergency situation high above the ground.

While flying to Rajkot, an elderly man seated next to her suffered a cardiac arrest. The actress not only took control of the situation but also helped revive the man before doctors could arrive at the scene.

Geeta, who was on the way to Rajkot to promote Zila Ghaziabad in which she has an item song, boarded an early morning flight to Gujarat over the weekend. But she was in for a rude shock. “Geeta boarded the flight and just minutes after take-off, the man next to her started feeling uneasy. Soon he collapsed and Geeta immediately called for the cabin crew. She also tried to comfort the man by rubbing his hands and trying to keep him conscious,” says a source close to her.

Turns out the co-passenger had suffered a mild heart attack. And as soon as they landed, he was rushed to the hospital.

Says Geeta, “This was one of the scariest incidents I’ve witnessed. Luckily it was a short flight and so help arrived faster.” The actress apparently even called up the man later in the day to check on his condition. “Thankfully, he was doing fine,” signs off the starlet.

Geeta Basra on her personal life and the item number she is doing in Zila Ghaziabad

Sneha Mahadevan (BOMBAY TIMES; December 15, 2012)

Actress Geeta Basra is back on screen with her new item number in the film Zilla Ghaziabad. The rustic song, choreographed by Remo, is titled Ghaziabad ki Rani Hoon Main. Geeta is accompanied by Arshad Warsi and Vivek Oberoi in the track. “It has been a long time since people saw me on screen, but this song is exactly what I needed. It is a fantastic, catchy number. Arshad and Vivek are terrific dancers and I had a blast shooting for the song.” She further adds, “I shifted from the UK to India when I was very young because I wanted to make a career in Bollywood. There have been setbacks but this item song, I am sure will open up new doors for me.” While we are talking about work, we can’t help but ask her about cricketer Harbhajan Singh. “I have never denied that Bhajji is a very important person in my life, but right now, I am single and not ready to mingle. Marriage will happen when it has to happen, but right now, it’s just work.”

The actress will be seen after five years on screen in an item number

Chaya Unnikrishnan (DNA; December 10, 2012)

It’s almost five years after The Train, in which she co-starred with Emraan Hashmi, that Geeta Basra will be seen on the big screen once again. And this time in an item number Ghaziabad Ki Rani, that is part of the forthcoming film Zila Ghaziabad. The actress is so excited about her dance number that she is all set to fly down her parents from London specially to watch her gyrate. “I am doing all the latkas and jhatkas, sporting a desi get-up, a look which people haven’t seen me in. I am eagerly looking forward to the response. My parents are very happy that I am doing it,” smiles Geeta adding that it’s not just another item number but a pivotal part of the story.

Ask her why she vanished from the scene and she blames it on being offered roles similar to the one she did in The Train. “I was getting roles in the same genre with negative shades and I was not interested because I didn’t want to get typecast,” says Geeta. Also, she had no godfather in the industry. “I was totally new and you can get lost here. You need guidance,” she quips. Did her relationship with cricketer Harbhajan Singh also put a spanner in her career? “I am not commenting on my personal life,” says the actress reiterating that if she had someone to guide her, things would have turned out differently.

However, the hottie didn’t get disheartened. She utilised the time to polish her Hindi, More >

Geeta Basra talks about her four-year-old affair with the cricketer and why there have been no wedding plans yet

Soumyadipta Banerjee (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 5, 2012)

It has been nearly four years that Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra have been dating. While reports suggested they were committed enough to tie the knot, the couple have always denied being in a relationship.

According to sources close to the couple, it is Harbhajan who has refused to admit to the relationship. And it has more to do with his volatile career than anything else. On her part, Geeta tried hard to focus on her film career, without much success. Geeta has confessed to her friends that being a relationship with Harbhajan may have come at the cost of her chances in the film industry.

“The constant talk and speculation abut their relationship and reports of their marriage severely damaged Geeta’s prospects in the industry,” says a source close to the starlet.

For all these years, Geeta has had hardly any work to speak of. And it is during this time that Harbhajan stood by her, helping her to remain afloat, say sources close to the couple. Geeta reciprocated by being there for Harbhajan whenever his career hit a rough patch – and given his mercurial

temperament, there have been plenty. “This is one of the reasons why the two have fought shy of talking about their relationship,” explains the friend, adding, “There has hardly been a steady phase of fair weather for the two of them to make any sort of More >
