Veteran photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha passed away early this morning due to a heart attack. He was 60 years old.
In his illustrious career as a photographer, Gautam had clicked the biggest names of Bollywood. In fact during the 90s, it was said that you ain’t anybody in Bollywood, unless you have been clicked by Gautam Rajadhyaksha, such was the sheer magic of the man.
B-town bigwigs expressed their condolence via Twitter. Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Gautam Rajadhyaksha the most gentlest of humans, and one of the finest photographers in the Industry, a friend, family favorite ..RIP” Madhur Bhandarkar also added, “Shocked 2 hear abt d demise of best portraitist photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha. He was a great human being & will b missed always. RIP!”
We at Bollywood Hungama too offer our heartfelt condolence to Gautam Rajadhyaksha’s family.
…the superstar is recuperating in London

Who said Amitabh Bachchan ditched his press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday to announce his return to the Kaun Banega Crorepati hotseat because he wanted to spend time in London with his grandkids? Not true at all! All of Bollywood will tell you, if there is one artiste who is 100% professional, then it is the Big B. And the report that ‘Nanaji Bachchan’ cancelled his return (and, thereby the press conference, leaving the entertainment channel’s head honchos red faced) to entertain grandchildren Navya Naveli and Agastya over lunch and soccer in London, must have the Big B in a twitter. And, who said earlier that Amitabh Bachchan had failed to attend the release of Gautam Rajadhyaksha’s book because he had gone into hiding in London and was licking the wounds his family had suffered from the savage mauling of Raavan? He was to be the chief guest, you remember, along with Lata Mangeshkar. Instead, Jaya Bachchan flew down from London for the book launch, and provided Gautam and Lataji an added show with Rekha!
Rumour is that the Big B is unwell. And he has been advised not to travel for a while. What is wrong with him, nobody knows, but going by past experiences… alarm bells start ringing in Bollywood even if Bachchan Sr comes down with the flu. So, the Bachchan parivar has flown down to be by his side. Abhishek and Aishwarya, postponing or More >
Rekha sidelined because of Jaya
MEENA IYER Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; June 20, 2010)

Aur phir kya? Hell broke loose! It was a packed hall, the dignitaries included theatreliterary stalwart Vijaya Mehta, singing sisters Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, Hema Malini, Padmini Kolhapure and Kajol. But honestly, did anyone care? The media was doing its own number.
The first disappointment for the media was a change in the order. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was to release the book with Lata. However, he was replaced at the nth hour by his eminent wife. And the media, which usually has a field day focussing on Rekha everytime the Big B is in the same vicinity, had an equally charged time capturing the diva’s expressions whenever Jaya spoke.
The evening had all the ingredients for a masala movie. Lata, Hema and Jaya sat on one side, while Rekha maintained a safe distance for most part of the evening seated on the opposite side with her faithful companion Farzana.
When the other dignitaries were invited on the podium, Rekha who has been a very staunch Gautam supporter was left sitting in the audience. The concerned parties may have had their reasons, but it More >
