She is just two films old, but looks like the actor already knows the trick to make the right choice when it comes to her roles. The young actor, who is not seen much on the social circuit has hit bulls’ eye with both of her films. Guess that is the perk of being a star kid. No wonder then, the pretty actor has her kitty full at the moment. And to think she never planned to be an actor in the first place, but a fashion designer.
”Since I was an obese kid and teenager,I used to just concentrate on designing. Acting happened because of Salman (actor Salman Khan) as he felt that I had in my genes what it needs to be an actor. He told me, all I should do is work on losing those extra kilos and get ready for Rajjo’s (Dabangg) role. And here I am. But once I establish myself as an actor, I would love to use my fashion know-how to the best of my capabilities,” she adds.
So doesn’t she feel that she is getting typecast playing the role of a village belle, which she essayed in her debut film Dabangg and now in her latest hit Rowdy Rathore? Explains Sonakshi, “No, in fact being an urban girl, it is a challenge to portray a village belle. And I have just done two films; I have a long way to go. So, I have no such fears of being typecast. My only worry is that I should not let my parents and audiences, who have loved me so much in so little time, down. I wish to do versatile roles and let the actor in me grow with every film I do.”

Ekta Kapoor agrees to change the release date of Once Upon A Time at Kangna’s suggestion

That Himesh Reshammiya changes the release dates of his films, as per strict instructions from his astrologer, is a known fact. Whether it has helped Reshammiya or not is debatable though. But Kangna Ranaut recently chose to go the same way.
Three days ago, Kangna’s astrologer Pallavi called her up and said that if Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai releases on July 29 instead of the scheduled date of July 30, it stands far better prospects at the box-office.
Kangna, who has immense faith in Pallavi, wasted no time in calling Ekta Kapoor, the producer of the film. A source says, “Kangna told Ekta about Pallavi’s prediction.”
Ekta, who happens to be an ardent follower of astrology, got quite worried about the turn of events. The source adds, “She (Ekta) could not neglect Pallavi’s prediction. But yes, she definitely asked Kangna how much she believes in Pallavi and her words. Thereafter, Ekta got cracking. But she couldn’t get a July 29 release date in Mumbai since the bookings were extremely difficult to get. Ekta now plans to release the film outside Mumbai on July 29.”

How’s 2010 begun for you? The new year has begun really well for me. I’ve started shooting for my film with Pradeep Sarkar. It’s been a tight schedule… I have been shooting for the past ten nights. My clock has gone slightly haywire, but I’m enjoying it!
So you are planning to tie the knot this year? There’s been speculation. I don’t deny that I am dating Priyanka. I would definitely want to make it official at some point, but that we are tying the knot this year is slightly premature to say. Since I hadn’t spoken about her much, these questions have been coming up in people’s minds, I guess. Hence, there’s been a lot of speculation about marriage.
Why have you kept your relationship low-key? It’s not something that I have done strategically. It’s just that I didn’t get a chance to speak about her. Now, it’s all out there and people want to know, so I talk as much as I can.
She is a fashion designer… is she connected with the film industry in any way? Not at all.

Faces losses to the tune of Rs 7 lakh

On Monday, fashion designer Anna Singh reached her store in Pluto building, Bandra, and was flabbergasted to find the shutters open. As she stepped inside, she realised that some of the most expensive sarees from her collection were missing.
An astounded Anna said, “At least five-six sarees, collectively priced around Rs 7 lakh, were missing from my collection. This robbery has come as a big blow.”
Anna has filed a complaint at the Bandra police station. The prime suspect is the absconding watchman of the building, who was on duty the previous night. “We are trying to find him. Apparently, he broke the lock. It is shocking that people who are meant to protect you end up harming you,” added Anna.

Priyanka Chopra wore an outfit to a swish party held on Friday, which Amrita Rao had worn on national television ten days ago. Worse still, Priyanka is apparently not even aware of her faux-pas. Mugdha Godse’s boyfriend slapped her designer when he insisted that the actress should clear his dues

Fashion designer Surya Sarkar is still reeling from the shock on being slapped by actress Mugdha Godse’s boyfriend, Mithun. It all started with Surya designing clothes for Mugdha in her forthcoming film, All The Best. Things turned ugly when Mugdha refused to pay Surya.
Surya says, “Arre maine kucch galat nahi kiya hai. I have supplied Mugdha clothes for All The Best but she is refusing to pay me. When I insisted, Mithun came over to my house and slapped me.”
The drama unfolded when Mithun visited Surya’s house to pick up Mugdha’s clothes. Surya says, “Mugdha had said she wanted me to design her costumes for All The Best. When the bill amount kept increasing, I asked her to pay me, which she refused. I told her that she would only get the remaining clothes only when she cleared my dues amounting to Rs 1 lakh. Mithun came to my house and asked me to handover Mugdha’s clothes to him. I demanded my money and that’s when he slapped me.”

“I can’t fathom why Mugdha did this to me. She is a lovely hardworking girl and we have worked together in Jail too. I thought of filing a police complaint, but then decided otherwise.”

After his bitter break-up with Lara Dutta, it would seem that Dino Morea has moved on. There are reports that he is once again dating his ex-girlfriend, fashion designer Nandita Mahtani. According to reports, this time both are extremely serious about each other.
Our source said, “Dino and Lara broke up about eight months ago and ever since, Dino and Nandita have become close again. They have always remained friends and Nandita’s constant presence in Dino’s life was always a worry factor for Lara. After Lara and Dino broke up, Lara moved on to date tennis star Mahesh Bhupati, while Dino was single for a few months. She might be still trying to find a strong foothold in the film industry even after being in the business for almost nine years now. But Dia Mirza couldn’t care less about making the right noises even if it means offending the director of her forthcoming film, Acid Factory. Instead she chose to honour her commitment to designers Shantanu-Nikhil to whom she is contractually bound. On Saturday, she refused to turn up at an event to showcase Sanjay Gupta’s Acid Factory despite having promised him that she’d walk the ramp for their film saying that she wouldn’t walk for fashion designer Samant Chauhan. “I am loyally bound to Shantanu-Nikhil and I will walk only for them,” she told Sanjay Gupta.
Dia ditched Sanjay Gupta minutes before she was scheduled to walk the ramp for Acid Factory at the Delhi fashion week on Saturday. Although Dia went all the way to Delhi, she simply refused to turn up at the venue at the last minute leaving Gupta in a lurch.
