After the huge success of Dabangg, Salman Khan doesn’t have a full-fledged release for a while. Though he would be seen in a special item song in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan alongside Akshay and Katrina, his next solo release in all likelihood would be Bhushan Kumar’s Ready directed by Anees Bazmee. The film has Salman paired opposite his London Dreams co-star Asin. Some of these on-the-sets stills of the film have been doing rounds of the web.
Ready is a complete masala entertainer and is a remake of a super-hit Telugu film by the same name. Besides Salman and Asin, the film also features Paresh Rawal, Mahesh Manjrekar, Puneet Issar and Manoj Pahwa in supporting roles. Music of the film has been composed by Pritam.
Ready is one of the rare Bollywood films to be shot in the island nation of Sri Lanka. Apparently, Salman who visited Sri Lanka during the IIFA awards earlier this year fell in love with the place and suggested that Ready be shot here. The film is likely to release in summer of 2011.
On a holiday trip to Thailand, Farah Khan and husband Shirish Kunder flew business class, while the kids and their nannies flew economy
On Tuesday night, choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan and her husband Shirish Kunder took off for a lavish holiday to Thailand. Not just the couple; they took their three children Czar, Anya and Diva as well. And that’s not all. The kids’ governesses also accompanied them. How adorable!
But here’s a shocker. While flying to their holiday destination, the couple was seated in business class and the kids and nannies in economy class.
An eyewitness reveals, “The entire family took off to Bangkok on Tuesday night. I saw Farah and Shirish seated in the business class (seat numbers: 2A and 2C). The kids Czar, Anya and Diva were seated in economy class (seat numbers 11 A, B and C) and their nannies Philomena D’souza, Mrs V Dhanavade and Mrs S Hadshi nearby (seat numbers 12 A, B and C). The business class was full, so there wasn’t any scope to get the kids and the nannies upgraded.”
Apparently, the triplets were shuttling between economy and business class, and were busy playing with each other, occasionally being cautioned by their nannies to be careful. “But the entire journey was quite pleasant,” adds the eyewitness.
It’s possible that only two tickets were available in business class for the kids but it might’ve been a problem to seat the third one then. So, the unavailability of adequate number of tickets can surely work as a genuine reason in favour of the couple.
But interestingly, daddy Shirish isn’t counting on better availability of tickets next time. When contacted, he said, “There is a little clarification. Maids were in economy and the babies were with us. After Tees Maar Khan becomes a big success, we should be in a position to the take the maids too in business class.” By ‘after’ you mean ‘if’ right?

Decades ago, the timeless Meena Kumari had audiences mesmerized every time she gazed the screen with her golden presence. With Katrina Kaif on board, Farah Khan thought it was only apt to recreate the ‘Meena Kumari magic/effect’ onscreen in her forthcoming film Tees Maar Khan.
Katrina’s ‘Pakeezah’ look in the ‘qawalli’ number in the film is a tribute to the yesteryear’s legendary actress. States director Farah Khan, “Katrina’s look has been modelled on Pakeezah .While Akshay and Salman can be expected to have a lot of fun with this track, it (actually) belongs to Katrina, as she is going to surprise the audience.”
The ‘qawalli’ track titled ‘Wallah Re Wallah‘ will has a complete local Mumbaiya feel to it and will be a complete foot-tapper.
Tees Maar Khan, which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles, releases on 24th December 2010.
Despite an alleged sum of Rs 15 crore being offered to Akki, the actor refused to act in the film
Producer Vashu Bhagnani went all out to resurrect his son Jackky Bhagnani’s career. Like in olden days, how Raj Kumar Kohli would cast A-list heroes in his films to add weight to his son Armaan Kohli’s vehicles, Vashu too did something similar.
Buzz is that he offered Akshay Kumar a gobsmacking Rs 15 crore (for 10 days’ work) to star in his forthcoming film, Faltu, starring his son Jackky. But Akshay is not biting the bait. In fact, he has politely turned down the offer.
This comes a bit of surprise since Akshay is known to be very professional when it comes to money. Says a source, “He told Vashu that he doesn’t have dates for the same.”
Can’t blame Akshay. We hear that the Khiladi Kumar has a lot on his plate: Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan and his television show, Master Chef India. It may be recalled that Vashu had first offered Akshay’s role to Sanjay Dutt, who too had declined it. Buzz then was that Sanjay rejected the offer (we don’t know how many crores were offered to him!) simply because Vashu didn’t cast his manager Dharam Oberoi’s daughter, Neha.

Faltu, directed by Remo, is meant to relaunch Vashu’s son Jackky after the debacle of Kal Kissne Dekha last year. Now, it turns out that Vashu has completely erased the character offered to Sanju and Akshay. Akshay, Vashu or Jackky did not respond to our calls. Guess they thought we’re faltu.

If there’s one actor who’s revelling in his new found glory it’s star son Aarya Babbar. The actor not only has his hands full with two mainstream film projects, but is also involved in far too many things than what people know. Recently, the actor also launched the first look of his graphic novel Pushpak Viman. Ask Aarya how was it to shift gears from acting to writing and he says, “I’m not shifting gears, writing has been my passion all along. So when I came across a good story to narrate, I thought why not give it a shot?”
Post his critically-acclaimed performance in Madhur Bandarkar’s Jail, life has really turned up trumps for him. Acknowledging it, Aarya exuberantly says, “It’s actually given a new lease to my career so much so that it got me Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan where I star alongside Akshay Kumar and also Anees Bazmee’s Ready where I share screen space with my most loved superstar Salman Khan!”
Not many know that Aarya is also dabbling between an international project, regional cinema and producing his first stage project, too. “By God’s grace, after four years of no work, I am finally happy that I have enough work to keep me busy. I have yearned for all this and now that I have so many things, I’m going to savour every moment,” says the earnest actor.
Despite so much in his kitty he claims to still be struggling. Ask him for what and he quips, “To give everyone around sleepless nights!”
For the first time, she’s not choreographing an SRK film
Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; October 5, 2010)
For the first time ever, filmmaker Farah Khan is not choreographing a Shah Rukh Khan produced movie and this has got tongues wagging. It has been repeatedly said that the once best friends Farah and SRK have gone separate ways and that she has been heavily bonding with Salman Khan, an industry rival of SRK after their bitter fall out at Katrina Kaif ’s birthday a couple of years back. Though close friends of Farah say that time constraints have not allowed her to do SRK’s Ra.1 as she is mighty busy with her own movie Tees Maar Khan, many others in the industry say that everything’s still not fine between the two. For ten years, every movie that Shah Rukh produced, Farah had been the choreographer, including Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Asoka, Chalte Chalte, Main Hoon Na, Kaal, Paheli and Om Shanti Om. From making SRK workout to sport a six pack and go shirtless on screen to the more aesthetic song and dance sequences of Paheli, Farah has experimented, innovated and gone larger in her approach to make a song for Shah Rukh. But unfortunately fo Ra.1, it seems like Farah’s name wil not appear in the credit list.
According to a source, “The benefit of doubt in this situation is that Farah does have an alibi. She has been slogging her life out for Tees Maar Khan She is also a mother to three and so automatically can’t devote so much time as she used to earlier. Moreover the post production of her movie wil also take a lot of her time and then she will get into publicity designs an promotions. However, the other side of the coin is that Farah has always worked like a machine. When she was choreographing for 10 films a year she always had that extra time for SRK. She did a song for Salman’s Dabangg (Munni Badnaam Hui) despite her Tees Maar Khan schedule. Farah’s absence is indeed raising a lot of eyebrows and people are bound to draw conclusions that all is not well despite what both of them have to say about each other at press events.”
We also hear that SRK might be getting a Hollywood choreographer for Ra.1. When contacted, Farah chose to remain silent. SRK could not be contacted for a comment.
The team, which like the actor, started out with a TV serial, was keen on getting his blessings for their film Khichdi–the movie
The team of the upcoming film Khichdi, based on the popular TV show of the same name, is thrilled that Shah Rukh Khan has finally responded to their numerous requests to meet.
The Khichdi team, which like King Khan began tis journey with TV, has been chasing the superstar to get his blessings. They wrote a letter to the superstar to grace them with his blessings. Even the first look of the film was launched in front of Shah Rukh’s mansion, Mannat.
A source informs, “The team of Khichdi is excited that they will be meeting SRK. The meeting is happening at Kamalistan and the whole team of the film will be present including the producer JD Majethia and the cast Anang Desai, Rajeev Mehta and Supriya Pathak.”
The elated producer Majethia confirms, “Oh yes, we are meeting Mr Khan at Kamalistan. We had written him a letter.
We have been sending him messages through various channels that we would really like to meet him and get his blessings and we are glad that he has agreed to meet us despite his busy schedule.” JD adds, “Shah Rukh’s heart is very big. We are glad that he is fulfilling our wish. And his timing is perfect.”
The producer informs that the whole team of Khichdi will be meeting Shah Rukh. When asked about Farah Khan, who is supposedly not on good terms with Khan and has done a cameo in the film, JD quips, “We don’t know about Farah. We will ask her.” Convenient.
Talking about his expectation from the meeting, JD adds, “We are hoping to get his blessings. We are inviting him to watch the film with a promise that he will be in splits for two hours.”

I must admit, I am no couch potato. I find it difficult to stay glued to television for hours, surfing channels randomly. Perhaps, that’s one of the reasons why I never watched an episode of this hugely popular TV show called KHICHDI. But, of course, I had heard of its popularity, about its comic quotient, about the zany characters…
KHICHDI – THE MOVIE borrows the characters from the show, but the movie has a new story to offer. In the West, popular shows are adapted on the big screen, but the trend is in nascent stages here. For someone like me, who was absolutely clueless about what to expect from the big screen adaptation, I’d say KHICHDI – THE MOVIE vacillates between absurd and ridiculous, but the fact remains that it makes you laugh at most times. KHICHDI – THE MOVIE may not push the envelope as far as the written material is concerned, but you exit the auditorium with a radiant smile, which most laughathons promise, but don’t deliver.

Final word? I haven’t laughed as much in weeks as much I did in those 2 hours. Do pay a visit to this mad family if laughter is what you seek in a movie. This khichdi is appetizing, for sure.
Hansa’s [Supriya Pathak] brother Himanshu [J.D.] has a ridiculous ambition: to have a memorable, legendary love story. Parminder [Kirti Kulhari], Himanshu’s neighbour, falls in love with Himanshu for no logical reason and the two get engaged to get married. That’s when this ridiculous story takes a ridiculous turn. Himanshu realizes on the eve of the wedding that the impending ceremony would mean impending doom to his desire to have a legendary love story. For, nothing interesting ever happened in his love story to make it memorable.
No resistance, no conflict, no separation, no sad song, no climax, nothing. So the dumb family sets out to stall the wedding. Thus begins their journey to create all those missing stages in Himanshu’s love story in order to make it legendary.
Even if you’re clueless about the characters in the story – like I was – it doesn’t take time to know that the family has its brains in its knees. At the very outset, the Almighty [Satish Shah, in a cameo] arrives at the doorstep to distribute akal ke laddoos, but the family will have none of it. From this point onwards, the characters get into weird and outlandish situations and the humour gets bizarre and wacky.
There’s hardly any serious moment in the film. Humour has been injected even in serious situations, like the death of a parent [Supriya and J.D.'s father] and the condolence meet thereafter, where a parody of ‘Beedi Jalaile’ and ‘Bheege Honth Tere’ are rendered for the grieving family members.
However, writer-director Aatish Kapadia’s screenplay has its share of potholes. The love story isn’t convincing at all. Also, the crime angle [the suicide portions] doesn’t cut ice. However, the courtroom sequence in the climax salvages the show and is, in fact, the highpoint of the enterprise. The entire sequence is so funny that you’ve to see it to believe it. It’s nothing short of a mirthquake!
Aatish Kapadia, the writer may not be in complete form, but Aatish Kapadia, the director knows his job well. His choice of actors, who’ve the right comic timing, comes handy at most times. Also, like I said, his handling of the courtroom sequence especially is noteworthy. Music is a sore point, but I am not complaining. I was not expecting musical gems either. Sanjay Jadhav’s cinematography is full of vibrant colors.
Every actor works in tandem with each other, instead of trying to have a game of one-upmanship and that’s what makes every single character stand out. Supriya Pathak is splendid. Anang Desai is top notch. Rajeev Mehta [as Supriya's husband] is fantastic. Nimisha Vakharia is first-rate. J.D. is excellent. Kirti Kulhari looks good. Girish and Keith are alright. Kesar Majethia and Markand Soni are cute. Farah Khan, Satish Shah, Deven Bhojani and Paresh Ganatra are lovely in cameo appearances.
On the whole, KHICHDI – THE MOVIE is a fun-ride that tickles your funny bone from start to end. Do visit this mad Indian family and get thoroughly entertained. Logic be damned, laughter is what matters. This one’s a great stress buster!
They may not be together, but bonded big time on Farah Khan’s set
Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; September 29, 2010)
Somewhere the line’s got to be drawn. And we are doing it here. It shouldn’t really matter to anybody but themselves and the people they are currently involved with, whether Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are together or not. But what matters, certainly, is that both actors show a rare maturity and extend professional respect to each other when together. Like they did when shooting for Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan at Film City last week.
According to a source on the sets, Salman and Kat had a blast on camera and off. And joining them was Bollywood’s original prankster, Khiladi Akshay Kumar, the lead star of the film.
A close friend of the two revealed, “Salman and Katrina had always been discreet about their relationship. And all speculation about how awkward they would be when they bump into each other again, went for a toss on the sets of Tees Maar Khan. It wasn’t a shoot for a few hours, but for days, and the two showed that they remain friends.”
Salman was roped in by his close friend Farah Khan to shoot for the qawwali dance number Wallah Re Wallah in the film. She had told him that Katrina and Akshay were featuring in the song but Salman did not hesitate to shoot with Kat. He chatted with her on the sets and even bonded with Akshay. Both actors were thick sets and kept pulling Katrina’s leg all the time.”
Farah too said, “Salman and Katrina are professionals and I couldn’t see uncertainty or discomfort on their faces while working with each other. They bonded really well. Salman even cooked food one day and Katrina and Akshay ate it. We were like a family out there.” Does that give the impression that the two actors are back as a jodi? Does it really matter?
We give you a blow-by-blow account of all that happened at Salman Khan’s Dabangg success party
While a good majority of the industry stayed away from Sallu’s bash, it did turn out to be a heady mix of celebrities, some clad in their snazzy cocktail outfits and of course, Sallu standing out ever so stylishly in his casual t-shirt and jeans.
Aamir’s sweet gesture
While host Sallu made a late entry himself, Aamir Khan, who recently returned from Toronto, came over (looking a tad out of place however in a bowtie and a suit) to wish Salman for his success.
|Arbaaz Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Subhash Ghai (Yogen Shah)|
Sonu-Sallu swappy story
The highlight of the evening was an oddly cute interaction between Sallu and Sonu Sood. Imagine a comic strip and here’s a chronological lowdown of what transpired. 1. Salman hugged Sonu and said that he wanted to do something for him. 2. Instinctively, Sallu removed the watch from his wrist and gave it to Sonu. 3. An overwhelmed Sonu thought of returning the gesture but proved to be a little unimaginative; he removed his watch to give it to Salman. 4. While initially refusing Sonu’s watch, Sallu finally took it and kept it in his pocket. 5. Sallu then took it out again and put it in Sonu’s pocket. 6. “This is its rightful place,” Sallu then told Sonu. 7. A touched Sonu hugged him tight. And they lived happily ever after.
Shirish bored without booze
Among Salman’s close friends present at the party were David Dhawan, Subhash Ghai, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder. After greeting others, Shirish made no qualms about admitting that he was feeling bored at the party. Reason? He said he had quit drinking and hence no longer knew what to do at a party anymore. Director Subhash Ghai was the last to land up at the party but was seen hobnobbing with Aamir for quite some time. Comeback, Mr Ghai?
Where’s the heroine?
Surprisingly, Sonakshi Sinha came in well past midnight. Her mother Punam Sinha and brother Kush were already present at the party when she entered. But we must add, she looked rather dapper in her multi-coloured short dress, with the khaandani high cheekbones definitely adding to the oomph factor.
Meeting the Kashyaps
Abhinav Kashyap entered hand-in-hand with his father and bonded for a long time with Arbaaz Khan. Anurag Kashyap came in his trademark blazer and jeans but sans girlfriend Kalki this time. The father-son pair looked cute together, especially after news of Anurag leaving his parents’ home to make his Bollywood career, had been doing the rounds.
As always, the after-party moved to Salman’s Bandra residence later and continued till the wee hours of the morning. Stars mingling in their own ‘Galaxy’…
