Actor miffed at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s no-show on his special day
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; March 3, 2011) After his birthday last week, Sanjay Leela Bhansali sang praises of his Guzaarish star Hrithik Roshan. He also gave an interview saying how touched he was by the thoughtful gift given to him by the actor, but when it came to backing up the talk with a thoughtful gesture himself, the director let down Roshan Jr. A day after SLB’s birthday was the launch of the Roshans’ new store; however the director didn’t show up to wish the couple at the opening.
BT has learnt from reliable sources that Hrithik is very hurt at Bhansali’s no-show. He wanted all his friends to be there, and they were all present to celebrate in their happiness, but the director didn’t turn up after promising to do so.
Says an insider, “Honestly, Hrithik didn’t expect Bhansali to skip his event. He had invited only people he considered close. People, who mattered to him. And it didn’t matter enough for Sanjay to be there. Hrithik is a very emotional guy, and he is feeling let down and hurt by the filmmaker, who he credits for giving him one of the best films of his career.” Bhansali remained unavailable for a comment. However, when contacted, Hrithik chose to play it down saying, “Yes, I missed him, but he had already planned to come another day as he wasn’t in town. So, no reason for hurt.” The SMS ended with a smiley face.
Pritish turns saviour for Katrina

Earlier, it was questions about her break-up with Salman Khan and now all that’s on Katrina’s mind is the recent IT raid.
Post the raid, Kat made her first public appearance last week at the book launch of Tonight This Savage Rite The Love Poems of Kamala Das and Pritish Nandy.
But very few know that before coming to the event Katrina was very apprehensive; she was scared that the media would ask her all sorts of questions about the IT raid.
Katrina at the book launchOur source said, “Katrina was in two minds before coming to the event. However, Pritish Nandy assured her that he would take care of the situation.”
When contacted, Nandy said, “During the conference I said that we should limit the scope of questions to the event, poetry and literature and stick to that. The media has a habit of asking all kinds of questions and we had to maintain the dignity of the event.
A book launch is a book launch. The idea was to have a sense of fun with a lot of dignity. As far as Katrina being wary is concerned, obviously she would be wary, anybody would. It was not a nice experience for her.”

Bollywood and punctuality don’t go hand-in-hand. In fact, some stars consider being late even stylish. Arriving late at shoots, not making it in time to inaugurate events, is a done thing.
But recently, Saif Ali Khan and his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor were not spared for keeping the media waiting at an event. They were stuck in traffic, they claimed. But by then, it was too late.
On Monday evening, at a five-star hotel in Juhu, the media sat waiting for Saif and Kareena to arrive for a press conference on a brand of shoes they endorse.
The actors arrived at the venue two hours late. Never in their wildest dreams had they expected the entire media to walk out on them. All press people boycotted the event and walked out the moment the two lovebirds entered.
An eyewitness says, “The event was to start at 8 pm and the entire media had arrived a little before time. After waiting for a while, they asked the organisers of the event about the whereabouts of Saif and Kareena. They were told that the couple was on its way to the venue and should be arriving any time. But that never happened.”
Apparently, the media decided to boycott the event at 10 pm. While exiting, they saw Saif and Kareena enter but none of them waited for the couple. More >

Ketan Mehta, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the business like Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, is back after a sabbatical. And this time it’s with an animation film called RAMAYANA – THE EPIC, which has been directed by Chetan Desai.
This writer had an exclusive dekko at the first promo of RAMAYANA – THE EPIC and I wish to add that one is mesmerized by the stylized and contemporary manner in which the makers have narrated the story. Slated for release on Dashehra [15th October], the film will be released in six versions simultaneously across India – Hindi, Tamil Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali. Hollywood giant Warner Bros. is distributing the film in India.
The first promo will be launched tonite [Thursday] amidst industry bigwigs at an event in Mumbai.

Shah Rukh Khan got married again yesterday at a five-star hotel in Ahmedabad to 20-year-old Tillana Desai. Wait, don’t jump to conclusions, it was a mock wedding that SRK impulsively thought up to pacify the girl who is in love with him. SRK was promoting his film My Name is Khan and didn’t think he’d run into a girl, dressed up as a bride, who also wanted her name to be Khan!
Our source said, “At his film’s event, SRK had to meet people with unusual love stories. Among the crowd, was 20-year-old Tillana Desai, who had come dressed in full bridal finery. When SRK asked her about her love story, she said she had been in love with a guy since she was seven but can’t marry him as he is already married.
When SRK asked her who the guy was, he was surprised to know that he was the man in question. She also said that she only uses the products that he endorses and refuses to buy anything else. The girl insisted that SRK should marry her. SRK used his million-dollar charm to overcome the awkwardness. The girl had even brought a ring with her. At a school function, Salman Khan had kids screaming for more while scandalised authorities were wishing they had ordered for ear plugs

When actors are asked to grace an event, particularly a school function, you expect them to prove to be good role models for the kids, encouraging them to study hard and eat right. However, if the actor happens to be Salman Khan, you can expect the unthinkable.
Salman, who had been invited to judge for an event at Jamnabai Narsee school, Juhu, shared some little known anecdotes about his own school days with the kids present, all between 11-19.
“Salman had said he would come on time (4pm) and stay the whole evening. The school authorities were expecting him to make a brief appearance, but he surprised everyone by taking time off to be there throughout,” says a source.
When called on stage to say a few words, his speech took everybody by surprise. “When Salman was asked to share memories of his school days, the audience braced themselves for a dose of nostalgia. However, he recalled how he would bunk classes constantly and was rusticated from four schools. He also confessed that he was the school bully – he even asked the resident bully of the school to raise his hand. // // // Gauhar Khan has just entered Bollywood, but, apparently, after the acclaim she has received for Rocket Singh, she is already throwing her weight around. Recently the actress was in Phuket to perform at a stage show with Anjana Sukhani. Gauhar threw a fit as she wanted a solo entry. She refused to make an entry with Anjana.
A source at the event reveals, “Anjana and Gauhar were supposed to make an entry together for the opening. But a few hours before the show, Gauhar spoke to the organisers and the choreographer and demanded that she make a solo entry. Just a few minutes before the show, Anjana was informed about the change and so she made her entry after Gauhar’s act.”

Koena Mitra was in for a rude shock when someone informed her she was attending an event in Pune on December 19. The actress was puzzled to find her name prominently featured in a Pune newspaper announcing her presence at an event called Toss.
Not approached or in talks A friend close to the actress says, “Koena was shocked to see an ad in the Pune newspaper and also on some websites announcing her presence at an event named Toss. She was neither approached, nor was in talks with anyone for such a show. After making a few phone calls, it was evident that a local person named Priya Kakre had used her name to make easy money.”
A thousand victims already The actress found out that the organiser already sold around 1000 passes costing 500 bucks each. “By using her name, the organisers fooled people into believing that she was performing at the show. They made a quick buck on her name. When we tried to get in touch with Priya she kept giving weird excuses saying she was conned into this by someone else.”
Strong reactions Reacting to the incident Koena says, “I am shocked and surprised how people can even think about even making a quick buck like this. Cheating people out of their hard earned money is disgusting. I urge people to be wary of such con artists during this festive season.”
