Shahid, Neelima patch up?
0All bridges are mended between estranged son and mother; recently Shahid’s mother was babysitting his pup; now he’s acting in her film
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 02, 2010)
It was a fallout that was a sore point in an otherwise rising career graph; Neelima Azim, dancer-singer, and son, actor Shahid Kapoor, had for all practical purposes parted ways. Mother and son just couldn’t see eye to eye.
Neelima Azim was chasing Shahid Kapoor, after his success at the box-office, for her directorial debut. But so peeved was the son that he refused to budge from his boycott and kept her at bay. It hurt.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor went on to act in his father’s directorial debut titled Mausam, a feature that is still in production. His father, Pankaj Kapur and mother Neelima Azim had an acrimonious divorce years ago.
Shahid continued to bristle from the bad break-up and was often accused of taking sides. For example, acting in daddy’s flick while evading his mother was not seen kindly by some of his detractors.
But this seems to be a change of season, a warmer tide seems to have washed over Shahid. Apparently, the now mature actor is willing to not only speak and interact with mother, but, from we’ve heard, has also green-lighted a project to be directed by her. Industry pundits are ecstatic at this emotional reunion.
Interestingly, the film stars Chandan Sanyal (his pal in Kaminey) and Bhavna Pani, his ex-flame. Let’s see how they share More >
Shahid, Sridevi in Shiamak Davar’s film
0A host of Bollywood A-listers to mentor slum children for Shiamak Davar’s directorial debut. It’s payback time, folks
Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 10, 2010)
Shiamak Davar’s directorial debut Naach Meri Jaan Fataa Faat, on slum children appearing for a dance competition, will have an entourage of Bollywood superstars working with him.
The process of selecting the slum kids will not be fataa fat though. The ten slum children (between the age of 5 and 18 years), 5 boys and 5 girls, who would be handpicked after a series of auditions, would be handed over to ten superstar mentors for training. Only post this stage will the kids face the camera for Shiamak.
Sridevi Shiamak DavarThe hunt for these slum children will begin next month and the film team will be travelling across various slums in Mumbai including Dharavi (of course, that couldn’t be missed after Danny Boyle’s visit) and Kalyan.
The idea of selecting ten superstar mentors emerged from Shiamak’s long and illustrious career with the film industry. The film’s producer Shailendra Singh says, “We believe dance can really make a difference to the common man’s life.
Shahid KapoorWe chose Shiamak so he could guide the destiny of ten kids from the slums. Also, Shiamak has worked closely with many stars. Now it’s time for them to do something that would benefit not just Shiamak or our film but society at large.”

Manish Malhotra to make his directorial debut
0By Devansh Patel, May 29, 2010 – 16:17 IST
Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” For starters, you know what’s happening in the world of Fashion? No? Well, here’s the ice breaker for you then. India’s numero uno fashion designer Manish Malhotra has shown interest in directing a full length feature film. An avid movie buff and having spent two decades in the Indian Film Industry, Manish Malhotra is all set to gear up for his directorial venture. He reveals, “I am planning to make a commercial, glamorous, glossy, popcorn film which I would go to see it. I have a dance film in mind and I’ve always wanted to do that kind of a film. The producers and the cast is too premature for me to speak about at this given point in time.” He further quotes, “I don’t only love fashion but also films. I have grown up watching Hindi films and the time has come that I show my prowess behind the camera. At the moment, it’s a ssshhh.”
Having known Manish and his celebrity friends list, we won’t be surprised if we do see the wish list including Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, and many more from the filmy fraternity roped in his debut film. And will it break any records for most number of celebrity special appearances? Oh yes, we’re sure!

Vidya in Sabyasachi’s film?
0// // //
Vidya BalanThat one of India’s most celebrated fashion designers, Sabyasachi Mukherjee will soon make his directorial debut is a well-known fact. The talented designer who has been painstakingly scripting his debut film is now ready to take his film on the floors in June this year.
Buzz is Sabyasachi’s close friend Vidya Balan and Pratik will star in his first film. Sabyasachi is also in talks with Konkona Sen Sharma, who had said during a recent interview that she finds Pratik very sexy. We won’t be surprised if she too signs on the dotted line.
As for Sabyasachi and Vidya, they became close friends when he designed her look in Paa. The designer’s admiration for Vidya was evident when he said in a recent interview: “Vidya is a naturally beautiful girl. I’ve often said that she looks much nicer off screen than she looks on screen so in Paa I have just reversed the process by making her look the way she is and not trying too hard to give her an identity because she is an Indian girl, she looks best in Indian clothes.” Vidya had also inaugurated his flagship store in Delhi recently.
A source said, “He had been scripting his film for a long time and is now adding finishing touches to it. His film, an out-and-out romantic comedy, is as unconventional as his clothes.”

Maneesh Sharma, Associate Director of the SRK starrer Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which created box office history for both Yash Raj Films and Shah Rukh Khan, has been entrusted with directing the next YRF project.
Produced by Aditya Chopra, the film will star newcomer Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma as the lead pair.
Ranveer, a complete fresher with no modelling or acting experience, was selected after his very first audition, having impressed Aditya Chopra instantly. Shahid on the controversial smooch with Genelia
0By Taran Adarsh, January 7, 2010 – 08:21 IST
Shahid Kapoor is controversy’s favourite child. The latest is, the actor forced his CHANCE PE DANCE director Ken Ghosh to delete the passionate smooch from the film. Reportedly, Shahid felt that it wouldn’t be good for his image when he saw the final cut of the film.
“I’ve stopped reacting to gossip,” Shahid tells me. So what’s the truth? “The truth is, there’s no smooch in the film. It was never conceptualised, hence it was not filmed. It just doesn’t exist. As simple as that,” Shahid clarifies.
Meanwhile, Shahid has decided against signing any film for the time being. “I am channelizing all my energies on my father’s [Pankaj Kapoor] directorial debut. We plan to begin shooting in March. That’s the only film I have on hand right now,” he says.
Reportedly, the film is inspired from the Tom Cruise starrer TOP GUN. “Well, the only similarity is that I play a naval officer in the film. In the past, Rajesh Khanna and Shah Rukh Khan too had played naval officers, but that doesn’t mean they were inspired by TOP GUN. Dad’s making a love story, which makes it entirely different from that film,” Shahid states.

Shahid to play a Tom Cruise' Top Gun-kind role in his dad's next
0Shahid Kapoor, as Tom Cruise did in 1986 with Top Gun, is all set to wear a uniform and take to the skies in Mausam — his father Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial debut. Pankaj, who felt Shahid needs a change of image after playing roles like an aimless student in Ishq Vishq, a gangster-social activist in Kaminey, a struggling dancer in Chance Pe Dance and an entrepreneur before that in Jab We Met and Vivah, decided a uniformed soldier’s role would give his son a mature man’s image. According to a source, the uniform has virtually been written into the script. Pankaj first toyed with the idea of making Shahid an Army officer. Then it was decided to cast him as an Air Force pilot. The last real big star to play an Air Force pilot in Hindi cinema was Rajesh Khanna in Shakti Samanta’s 1969 hit Aradhana, which itself was a copy of the 1946 Hollywood film To Each His Own. Shahid’s role is being modelled on the lines of Tom Cruise’s from Top Gun, in which the actor played a Navy pilot training in the US Navy Fighter Weapons School known in the Pentagon as ‘Topgun’. The film was a super hit and had great music and songs apart from scintillating dogfights in mid-air and other action. Shahid is taking the film seriously and has decided to train for the More >
David Dhawan's son's film shelved
0Times aren’t good for director David Dhawan. Yesterday, we broke the news about how Salman Khan is not letting him direct Sanki and now, we have learnt that his son Rohit’s debut directorial venture has gone kaput.
The Akshay Kumar-John Abraham starrer, Come on Pappu has been shelved and the junior Dhawan is now working on an entirely new film, a romantic comedy, which is yet untitled. Rohit confirms, “Yes, I am not making Come on Pappu anymore.”

A source reveals, “Come on Pappu was in trouble because several production houses were backing out. Initially, the film was to be produced by Percept Picture Company, but they backed out due to lack of funds. Rohit then took his project to Studio 18, but they refused to go ahead with it, thanks to Akshay’s exorbitant fee and John’s huge fee hike post the success of his films, Dostana and New York. Come on Pappu was then taken to Eros, who too eventually backed out.”
“Come on Pappu was a big-budget film and some really advanced technology had to be used to make it. Rohit finally decided to scrap the project altogether and moved on to write a romantic comedy. He has also auditioned a few actors from the industry for his new film,” adds the source.
Rohit says, “I am writing something else now. Due to market constraints, Come on Pappu couldn’t see light of More >
