Salman launches Ready music with ageing studio workers
0Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; April 25, 2011)
Salman Khan was adamant about not wanting to launch the music of his latest film Ready at a five star venue. Earlier there were reports saying that the actor wanted to gift bicycles to some of the key workers/or their children of Mumbai’s Filmcity .
Now there is a slight change in plan. Today, the actor will have the music launch of his film Ready at Filmcity with the cast, the crew and all the staff members of this Government of Maharashtra run studio.
Salman’s logic is simple. Says a source close to the actor, “Bhai feels these are the guys who have been with him for the last 21 years. And he feels they have supported him unconditionally through his highs and lows. He just wants to reciprocate their goodwill and so besides giving them a surprise (obviously the actual plan cannot be revealed) he will also have dinner with them post the music launch.”
Heat Is On with Aarti Chabria
1By Devansh Patel, March 26, 2011 – 16:05 IST
Ever since we were old enough to talk about men and women getting intimate, see them on screen shed their inhibitions, we learn to keep our literature hidden from our precious beloved in our lives. But those days no longer exist. Or do they? Times have changed. Girls have moved on and so have the boys. We plan a date, sip red wine, relish the grilled food, and end our day with a pleasant kiss and a warm hug. But it’s not all the delicacies on the dinner table that makes an evening special. It’s the talk. Do you talk about deleting your search history each time you’ve indulged in a pleasant afternoon of one handed web surfing? Do you eye another striking figure or a handsome hunk while dining? Do you have to hide? Do you talk about your ‘ex’ with him or her? Do you get ‘hit’ on by a girl when you are with your girl? Does a man come up to you and ask you for a dance when your man is standing there ordering the second round for you? Surely, in this post modern world, ‘talk’ is something we can now share. But how? Ladies might not like to leave their husbands with her, but I’m sure most guys would like an introduction. Welcome Aarti Chabria! She could strip her name down to her initials ‘A.C’ and the summer heat would perpetually go away. Classic and quirky, sleek yet curvy, optimistic and ambitious: Aarti has been around and stayed around, been there and done that, and proving herself to be a consistent winner More >
Ranbir-Anushka: Yeh Nazdikiyaan
0Anushka Sharma is bonding with Ranbir Kapoor, first at a party, then her house and at a dinner recently
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; March 21, 2011) There’s something interesting brewing between Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. The two first met at Karan Johar’s party in February. It was evident to all present that the Band Bajaa Baaraat girl was interested in the RK boy. Even the presence of then girlfriend Katrina Kaif, didn’t stop her from making eyes at Ranbir. She also blatantly ignored her beau Ranveer Singh who was left to dance by himself, while she gyrated purely for Kapoor’s benefit.
On Karan Johar’s show Anushka confessed that she would love to date Ranbir. Close friends of Kapoor swear he is single now, so what’s to stop her from making her move? Everyone thought their ‘chemistry’ was just party fervour for the night. Shortly after, she had a party for a select group of friends at her home, and she invited Ranbir too. Also present was his wingman, Ayan Mukherjee. Meanwhile, it is believed that Anushka and Ranveer after a huge spat, have agreed to stay friends, instead of lovers.
On Thursday night, Ranbir and Anushka were spotted together again. This time they were out for dinner with a bunch of friends which also included Ranveer and Shahid Kapoor. Later, they were all seen leaving in the same car. While Ranveer sat next to the driver, Ranbir and Anushka were cosying up to each other in the backseat, next to Shahid. More >
Mink gets 15 lac offer from pimp
0Small time starlet Mink allegedly got a call from a pimp for a one night deal. Despite all the details, which she was rather forthcoming with, why was Mink willing to have coffee with him?
Vivek Kar (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 05, 2011)
Everyone knows that there is a sordid side to Bollywood. No one talks about it, but there are unconfirmed stories of many leading actresses being available for a price for celeb-crazy rich businessmen.
Shady modelling deals and events in foreign lands are often a cover up for these dirty games, people claim.
One actress who is being very vocal about her experience with one such ‘coordinator’ is the small-time starlet Mink. She participated in Zor Ka Jhatka most recently.
A jhatka she wasn’t expecting though was a call, allegedly from a pimp, a man who she claims was rather vocal about his offer.
In an exclusive to Mumbai Mirror, Mink revealed, “I had been getting calls from a pimp for a one night stand with some businessman. I got the first call when I was out of town. The person called me and introduced himself as a coordinator.
He asked me if I was interested in modelling for a brand of saris and asked me if I had modelled for any sari brand earlier. I replied saying that I had not. Later he called me and said that he would give me Rs 10 lakh for the ad.
I was shocked at hearing that and became slightly suspicious because I know that no one gets paid 10 lakhs to model for a saree ad.”
“But I didn’t follow my suspicious More >
Is Vid getting engaged to Sid?
0There is a strong buzz in Bollywood circles indicating this…
TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; February 26, 2011)
“More women are lost to marriage than floods and famine,’’ said a skeptic. Despite constant and vehement denials from the concerned parties, it seems like Bollywood is about to lose some of its best talent to the institution shortly. Talk is that B-town’s most celebrated talent Vidya Balan, who is good friends with Siddharth Roy Kapur, a top film corporation honcho may reportedly get engaged to him. A top industry source says, “Vid and Sid are close. And in the past weeks they have been spotted spending quality time with each other on two occasions. The first time was when they reportedly stayed back after an awards night in Singapore and more recently when they were photographed in casual attire at a beach destination in India.’’
Rumours say that Vidya who is doing some exceptional film work this year may consider getting engaged to Siddharth. There is also talk that the film corporation executive is not comfortable talking about his friendship with the actress because he is allegedly waiting for his divorce to come through.
Vidya’s secretary however rubbishes all this talk. Says he, “Vidya has to first know Siddharth well enough to marry him. One doesn’t necessarily marry people one is friendly to or has dinners with.”
The actress remained unavailable for comment.
Stars livid with Kangna?
0
The actress is being accused of name-dropping
Meena Iyer | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; February 22, 2011)
In a business where everyone shamelessly uses the other; one wonders how much credence one should give to loose talk that Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt are reportedly livid with the curly-haired temptress Kangna Ranaut for using their names to add to her own brand equity.
In the fortnight gone by, it was reported that Kangna claimed to be a part of Sanjay’s household; she claimed to be the one who Ajay and Rohit Shetty fought over and she is said to have insinuated that Salman is her true well-wisher. Our source says, “The three actors however aren’t happy with their names being used. Kangna wasn’t even invited to the party Salman threw in Bangkok. She just gate-crashed.”
There are always two sides to a story. When confronted with the reports that the band of boys was upset with her for taking their names without good reason, Kangna bared her fangs. Said she, “Honestly why do I need to take anyone’s name to further my career? I’m in a very good place.”
The National Award winning actress said, “I can truly understand if I were to drop Tom Cruise’s name to make an impact. Why would I need to take any other names? I’m already doing a couple of films with Ajay. I’m in Sanjay’s home-production and as for Salman, he requested me to do a cameo in his movie Ready. And we’re doing something for his charity organisation. I’m More >
Sanjay, Salman, Ajay to party in Bangkok
0By Subhash K. Jha, February 12, 2011 – 11:32 IST
A get-together bringing together two Bollywood teams of A-listers shooting simultaneously in Bangkok is now being planned by two of our biggest filmmakers.
Anees Bazmee and David Dhawan have more in common right now than meets the eye. Considered comic maestros of great mirth worth, they are both in Bangkok shooting simultaneously for two films almost adjacent to one another. Under normal circumstances the stars from the two units would be hopping over and hobnobbing with one another, especially since Devgn-Dutt-Dhawan bond magnificently with Salman.
Blame it on the killing mutually incompatible schedules. But the Rascals team is not able to spend time with the Ready team. With David Dhawan helming Sanjay Dutt’s first production Rascals and Anees Bazmee determined to wrap up Ready, the pace is naturally fanatical. The two units find themselves working at a pace that does not invite socializing.
Repeated attempts to party together have been thwarted.
Anees is about to change that. He’s planning a big get-together for the two units this week.
Says Anees, “It’s really strange. We all love one another in the two units. But we aren’t able to spend time together here in Bangkok. We’re doing night shoots. We haven’t had a moment to breathe. I’m now planning a dinner for both the units. We HAVE to meet. And I’ve to make it happen. We hardly get to meet in Mumbai. Chalo,Bangkok hi sahi.”

Rajeev Khandelwal is now happily married
0Rajeev Khandelwal married his girlfriend of two years, Manjiri Kamtikar last evening in Jodhpur
Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 08, 2011)
A new chapter has begun in Rajeev Khandelwal’s life now.
The actor tied the knot last evening with his girlfriend of two years, Manjiri Kamtikar, at Khimsar fort in Jodhpur. The marriage involved family and close friends only. It was an Arya Samaj wedding.
Though the wedding involved only a close-knit group of people, it was a lavishly and tastefully organised. A few of the guests were put up at the Khimsar fort, while others were accommodated at the Sand Dunes Tents.
Post the wedding ceremony a grand party with drinks and dinner was organised. Guests thoroughly enjoyed a sumptuous typically Marvadi meal.
A sangeet ceremony was held on Sunday night, in which Rajeev danced to Bachna ae haseeno. The couple performed together later on their favourite song, Pyaar ki ek kahaani suno.
The Sangeet went on till the wee hours of the morning until it was time to get ready for the big day.

Shahid Kapoor confesses his fondness for the dusky actress
Meena Iyer | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; January 19, 2010)
It rained 10 different Best Actor awards in Shahid Kapoor’s backyard all through 2010. The accolades came for Kaminey (2009) and the applause carried through for a year. Somewhere in between he had a couple of indifferent films. A dud called Dil Bole Hadippa and an average grosser called Badmaash Company. Both got mixed reactions. That’s when this cutie-pie hero, who has been at the No 4 slot on the Times 50 Most Desirable Men, twice in a row, decided to take a short break to do some serious strategising.
“I was reading scripts every day,’’ confesses the actor. However, he agreed to do just Mausam directed by his father Pankaj Kapur. This March, the shooting should end. And immediately after this Shahid will start work on Kunal Kohli’s next romantic film with his current date Priyanka Chopra. The PC-Shahid romance has gained great momentum in recent weeks after their appearance on Koffee with Karan. Mercifully, he doesn’t shy away from the topic. Admits Shahid, “I am very fond of Priyanka.’’
However, the actor refutes stories of their New Year engagement in Goa. Says he, “As always the media is ahead of both Priyanka and me with their constant speculation. I am not one of those who leads life according to what the press will write or say. I do not let others govern my actions and my thought process. I am okay with being More >
Sonam and Punit Hate (their own) Love Story?
0The couple have tried very hard to keep their relationship a well-concealed secret. The couple though is very much an item, we hear
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 10, 2011)
Sonam Kapoor claims that she is single. While speaking to Mumbai Mirror (April 30, 2010), I Hate Luv Storys director Punit Malhotra had also claimed that he is single.
And one thought that their attraction towards each other had indeed fizzled out after the film released. But this is far from the truth. Sonam and Punit are very much a couple even now.
Rumour had it that their public display of affection didn’t go down well with Punit’s mama Manish Malhotra and producer Karan Johar, who told Punit to “concentrate only on his work”. Was that the reason why Sonam and Punit decided to be low profile on their love story?
Or had they taken a break from one another and come together only recently? Last evening, a source close to Sonam and Punit told Mumbai Mirror, “Sonam is not single; she is dating Punit.
One doesn’t know why they are not open about their relationship. But yes, they are very low profile at the moment, much more than they were even during I Hate Luv Storys. Sonam confides about her relationship with Punit to only a few close friends of hers.”
Sonam’s case is just like that of Deepika Padukone’s, who is certainly dating Siddhartha Mallya but never speaks about it publicly.
But then, Deepika and Siddhartha at least go out in public. But in the case of More >
