Devi Sri Prasad, the Telugu-Tamil composer of the chartbuster Dhinka Chika in Ready will enter Bollywood with a full-fledged score, thanks to Salman Khan.

Khan was keen to have Devi Prasad do the music of Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, but that didn’t work out. He will now compose the music of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick and Sohail Khan’s next Sher Khan.

Prasad is joyous about his Hindi debut. “I want to be remembered for quality than quantity here,” he says.

Prasad has just done the Hindi version of his new chartbuster Aa ante Amalpuram from the Telugu film Aarya for the Sonu Sood starrer Maximum. “I’ve also started working on the music of Singham 2 in Tamil with Suriya in the lead, and I’ve just finished composing the item song for Gabbar Singh, the Telugu version of Dabangg.”

Promos of Ready are out and what has caught instant attention is the sound of ‘Dhinka Chika‘ which plays right through it’s duration. What has also caught attention to all music lovers especially down South is it’s obvious similarity to ‘Ringa Ringa‘ which was heard in Allu Arjun’s Telugu film Arya 2. Since the composer of Ready is Pritam, many were quick to scream ‘It’s a lift’. However the fact is that it was Salman influence at work as he wanted the song to be incorporated in Ready.

“Bhai had caught fancy to this song and played it continuously in his vanity van during breaks”, informs a source from the film’s crew, “He found the overall attitude of the song pretty exciting and wanted to include it in one of his films. He informed Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of T-Series and also the co-producer of Ready about it and asked him to reach out to the song’s original composer Devi Sri Prasad.”

It wasn’t tough to buy rights for the song and Prasad too was happy to create a Hindi version of ‘Ringa Ringa‘ by making it ‘Dhinka Chika‘. Also, while the hook remained intact, the flavour was tweaked a little to address North Indian sensibilities. Still, there was one problem ahead and it was about how to break the news to Pritam, the original composer of the film.

“These days Pritam is very particular about him being the sole composer for each of his films. He is not too pleased when others share credits with him”, More >

EXPECTATIONS

Now this is what one calls a perfect project in the making. Salman Khan, Anees Bazmee, Pritam, Bhushan Kumar and that promise of an out and out entertainer – one strongly believes that the music of Ready can’t really go wrong. There are movies that are termed as popcorn entertainers; now here is a soundtrack which one believes would be the kind that would be best enjoyed when being a little high. Though four different lyricists – Amitabh Bhattacharya, Neelesh Misra, Ashish Pandit and Kumaar – are roped in for a song apiece with Devi Sri Prasad also chipping in as a guest composer, you look forward to whether Ready indeed has enough ‘dum’ in it to be the biggest commercial soundtrack of the year so far.

Pritam lends a fantastic start to Ready with ‘Character Dheela‘ and what actually catches your instant attention is the fact that despite this being a Salman Khan entertainer, the song has the trademark sound that the composer is known for lending to his songs. If one has liked the kind of tunes that Pritam has composed for Shahid in films like Kismat Konnection, Jab We Met and Badmaash Company, he is bound to totally lap up ‘Character Dheela‘ due to the Salman element being cleverly integrated by Amitabh Bhattacharya through his smart lyrics (don’t miss that reference to ‘Munni‘ and ‘Sheila‘).
