Yaana’s Costume drama
0Yaana Gupta was thrown out of at an award function over a dispute with organisers about costumes
Kathika Kandpal (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 07, 2011)
Not long ago, Yaana Gupta was in the news for appearing at an event panty-less. Yet again, the drop-dead diva has come into the media spotlight over a costume dispute!
Gupta was supposed to perform at an award function that was to honour women. Shashi Ranjan, the organiser of the award ceremony, said, “Yaana was to perform at the award function, on February 7th, in Delhi.
During her rehearsals too she would throw a lot of tantrums. On 6th morning, the whole crew was to fly down to Delhi, for the award function and on the 5th night, Yaana refused to wear the costume designed by the designer assigned by us.
She wanted us to hire her designer and pay him Rs. 40,000. Not only this, she asked us to pay Rs. 20,000 to her staff as well. Just a day before we were supposed to fly to Delhi, she issued this like a threat, thinking I would give in to her demands.
This was very unprofessional on her behalf. If it was a genuine complaint, I definitely would have taken care. But this kind of attitude I have never yielded to.
So I asked her to leave. We had booked everything for her stay in Delhi, but now we have to replace her. TV actress, Jasvir Kaur, will now perform instead of her.”
Gupta’s spokesperson said, “This is to clarify that Yaana has not backed out of the show at all. There was an issue with the costume More >
Trisha in a drug scandal?
0On a Telegu channel, the actress’s name was allegedly linked with a Nigerian drug peddler only because designer Sidney Sladen, who is of African origin, is a good friend of hers
Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 27, 2010)
Trisha Krishnan, who made her debut in Khatta Meetha, had a dark encounter with the law recently. The actress landed herself in a drug scandal when a recent report on a Telugu channel claimed that she is into drug abuse and is closely associated with a drug peddler from Nigeria. Trisha, on the other hand, believes that she is being dragged into this controversy only because she is a good friend of Sidney Sladen, a designer of African origin, whom the channel is accusing of being a Nigerian drug dealer.
Quite irked about the turn of events, Trisha, who is currently in Chennai, says, “It’s very strange. I was shooting in Kodaikanal when this Telugu news channel declared this report; they put up a still of mine with a very dear friend who is African-American. They assumed that this fashion designer friend of mine from Chennai was a drug peddler from Nigeria.”
The actress decided to act on this immediately and got her lawyer to issue statements to all television channels. She also took legal action against this particular channel, which she believes is unnecessarily linking her name to a drug peddler. A furious Trisha says, “This is not a harmless rumour.
There is not an iota of truth to it. It’s strange where this More >
Movie Review: I HATE LUV STORYS by FENIL SETA
0LOVE! The four-letter word as well as the feeling that everyone must experience! A strange phenomenon where even the most realistically thinking person throws away his practical thought out of the window and starts living in a dreamy world. Expectations reach skyhigh. And in some unfortunate cases, when all the dreams get shattered, the person in love feels like a fool. Normally, in Bollywood, heroes are shown falling for that cute girl and suffering a terrible heartbreak and its repercussions when the girl dumps them for some reason or the other. In case of I Hate Luv Storys, the girl falls for the guy inspite of knowing that he makes fun of love and hates ‘love stories’ and she also experiences that elusive one-sided love feeling (normally reserved for heroes in our cinema) for a part of the film. And this is one of a rare factor of this otherwise predictable film! I Hate Luv Storys may not be that perfect and classic romantic flick but it has its moments and is definitely the perfect treat for the weekend!
The story of the movie: Jay (Imran Khan) is an assistant director and is working under Veer Kapoor (Samir Soni), a very popular Bollywood director, knowing for making hopelessly romantic films. Strangely, Jay hates love and lovey-dovey films. He believes that those who are in love are in need of help as love is sickness! On the other hand, Simran (Sonam Kapoor) is a sucker for love stories and a die-hard romantic. She has a wonderful fiance Raj More >
I love mindless entertainers… making them is an art-Mani Ratnam
0Interview by Indu Mirani
As I wait outside the sound mixing suite in AR Rahman’s studio in Chennai for Mani Ratnam (55), who is busy putting last minute mixing touches to his Hindi-Tamil film Raavan, I get into a conversation with one of his assistants Shalini. She is frenetically busy too, juggling between downloading files and uploading others, all the while co-ordinating with designers and title writers. Later, she tells me that she waited seven years after finishing her mass media degree, rejecting every other job offer, for a chance to assist Mani Ratnam.
Mani RatnamShaad Ali Sehgal, who has himself directed three films, is a close associate of Mani Ratnam, assisting him on all his films since Dil Se. He has not even thought of his next film for over two years because he has been busy with Raavan.
That is the sort of reverence Mani Ratnam inspires in those who work with him and the audience follows suit. They may make his films hits or flops but rarely will anyone say he doesn’t want to watch a Mani Ratnam film, which comes with an in-built guarantee of exquisite cinematography, scintillating screenplay, amazing music, off-beat locations and mainstream actors in challenging roles.
His only son, Nandan (19) though, is not in any way involved with films. He is in Edinburgh, studying philosophy and Mani Ratnam has no problem with that at all. “His interests are in books, politics and More >
Twinkle at her stylish best in this month’s issue of Grazia
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, February 4, 2010 – 13:29 IST
One of the most stylish star-wives in tinsel town is none other than Twinkle Khanna. Twinkle, who still looks like she could give the current breed of actresses a run for their money, features on the cover page of this month’s issue of fashion and style magazine Grazia. Looking like a million bucks, Twinkle is seen wearing a red coloured textured dress by Blugirl.
In an exclusive interview with Grazia, Twinkle talks about her style statement and her favorite designers. She says, “A woman has to always go by her structure and make the most of it, rather than try to dress like someone else. I love flowing dresses, but I can’t really wear them because they overwhelm my frame. For me, everything has to be cinched at the waist.”
Finally, Twinkle also shares some valuable insights on how she manages to juggle between her various roles of a devoted mother, loving wife, successful businesswoman and veritable style genius. All this and more indeed makes for some very interesting read.

Priyanka has issues with stylist?
0Priyanka Chopra’s tantrum on the sets of Anjaana Anjaani forces designer Manish Malhotra to step in to save his petrified junior
By Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 04, 2010)// // //
Priyanka ChopraMany stars are known to throw tantrums. But it came to a surprise when we heard ‘Miss Professional’ Priyanka Chopra is creating ruckus on the sets of Siddharth Anand’s Anjaana Anjaani.
A source from the unit reveals, “Manish Malhotra is styling Priyanka, who is shooting for Anjaana Anjaani in the US. She has an extremely glam look in the film. While Priyanka likes the look Manish has given her, she has a lot of issues with the assistant stylist assigned to her by Manish.
Priyanka isn’t happy at all with what the assistant stylist has been coming up with, right from the color combination, the outfit combination, etc. She is finding the combination of colors and clothes given by this stylist very jarring.”
The source continues, “The assistant stylist herself seems petrified by the situation. Since she is a junior person, she can’t even explain herself. Priyanka has complained to Manish and he is now himself helping out with the combinations.
Manish MalhotraBut it is practically impossible for him to reach every location. He has pacified Priyanka and has spoken to the assistant too. But each day passing day is proving more and more difficult for the stylist, because Priyanka seems to have an issue with everything she is giving her to More >
Anushka wears bum pads in Patiala House?
0// // // We told you about Shahid Kapoor wearing bum bags to accentuate his hips (A** Shahid likes it, October 3, 2009). Now we hear his co-star from Parmeet Sethi’s untitled film, Anushka Sharma, is also wearing pads to, ahem, buttress her posterior, for her role in Patiala House opposite Akshay Kumar.
A source says, “Anushka is blessed with a thin figure, but had to look fit for Parmeet Sethi’s film. She is opposite Shahid Kapoor and is playing a glamourous role, so she had to be well-toned. She worked out regularly to stay slim.”
Anushka SharmaHowever, the weight loss is posing a little problem now, what with the actress playing a robust Punjabi kudi in her next, Patiala House, being directed by Nikhil Advani.
“Anushka is playing a typical North Indian girl who is required to look fuller, unlike the size zero girls in today’s films. In parts of the film, she will be dressed in Punjabi outfits like patiala salwars and short kurtis. When she wore the ethnic dresses, she was looking way too skinny. Punjabi girls are heavier on the lower body, especially the hips. Since Anushka nowhere resembled a Punjabi girl in that aspect, designer Jaimal Odedra decided to attach bum pads inside her salwars to make her derriere look heavier,” adds the source.
For the record, a bum bag is a small fabric pouch secured with a zipper More >

Surya says, “Arre maine kucch galat nahi kiya hai. I have supplied Mugdha clothes for All The Best but she is refusing to pay me. When I insisted, Mithun came over to my house and slapped me.”

When the bill amount kept increasing, I asked her to pay me, which she refused. I told her that she would only get the remaining clothes only when she cleared my dues amounting to Rs 1 lakh. Mithun came to my house and asked me to handover Mugdha’s clothes to him. I demanded my money and that’s when he slapped me.”
Surya Sarkar
“I can’t fathom why Mugdha did this to me. She is a lovely hardworking girl and we have worked together in Jail too. I thought of filing a police complaint, but then decided otherwise.”
Despite repeated text messages, Mugdha remained unavailable for comment.
