David Dhawan on casting Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn in his next!

David Dhawan, who is known for superhits like Judwa, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and more recently Partner, is all set for his next film Rascals. It stars Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Kangna Ranaut, Lisa Haydon and Arjun Rampal. David delivers the perfect comedy-masala package. He says, “In the 90s when I made comedies with Govinda, it was a rare genre. The audience was into emotional dramas and filmmakers were not confident about making comedy films. But today the scenario is different. Comedies are not necessarily small budget films. The audience is lapping it up, there are many filmmakers taking this genre seriously, as are actors. And if we bring in emotions, then it works better.”

He explains the pairing of Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn saying, “I have directed Sanjay in many films. I think it is the best combination. As a pair they are super. And they are good friends off-screen, which makes things easier for a director. Also, they are both very secure actors, unlike some who are insecure and worried about who has got better clothes, scenes and dialogues. Sanjay and Ajay would never worry about these little things.”
