0Party workers barge in on the sets, during filming at Film City; producers Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt refuse to meet their demands and call the cops
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 04, 2011)
First they send a saree to Kareena Kapoor after the release of the poster of her film Kurbaan. Much to the displeasure of the industry, MNS has been interfering in the workings of Bollywood.
“They came in on the pretext of examining cards of the unit members which is not their mandate,” explains producer Mahesh Bhatt about the intrusion of MNS workers at the Murder 2 shoot at Film City on Friday.
Poster of Murder 2Director Mohit Suri, who was present at the scene, was frazzled by the disruption. The Bhatts had to call the cops.
Mahesh explained what transpired that day, “The authority to examine unit members’ cards belongs to the Film Federation and Cine Aritstes Association. Mohit panicked and so he called me.
I sent a message to Commissioner of Police, Arun Patnaik, who acted promptly. I also spoke to the Home Minister, R R Patil.
I just fail to understand how anybody can get into a state owned property like Film City and disrupt an on-going shoot. And mind you this is happening often these days.”
When questioned why the MNS would take such a step, Mukesh revealed, “The MNS has started interfering in the film industry as if they have the power to do so. They want us to work with their people.”

Kangna’s Bday bash busted
0Instead of A-listers who were invited, cops drop by to turn Kangna Ranaut’s party sour; Salman saves the day
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 24, 2011)
Done with being the ‘outsider’ in the industry, Kangna Ranaut had planned a big birthday bash at her Bandra residence on Tuesday night.
Unluckily, what was meant to be a blockbuster, turned out to be a rather dud-ly affair.
A cameo by Salman Khan, however, saved the day.
We reported on March 22, how Kangna who had so far chosen to keep a low profile had decided to throw her doors open to Bollywood on her 24th birthday.
Looks like Bollywood is still to respond to her gesture.
Says a source, “Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and wife Manyata, David Dhawan and Arjun Rampal did not attend the party. Hrithik’s absence, in particular, stood out.
Kangna had a fallout with the Roshans after her role in Kites was cut short, but she had recently patched up.”
Even her Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai producer Ekta Kapoor failed to show up for the party.
When contacted, she said, “I was invited but I didn’t go since I wasn’t feeling well.”
Though most Bollywood biggies failed to make it for Ranaut’s big bash, the cops did not.
A few hours into the party, the Mumbai Police walked in and slapped Kangna with a fine.

Abhijeet Sawant reacts over Tuesday’s late-night brawl
0By Subhash K. Jha, December 2, 2010 – 12:00 IST
Abhijeet Sawant’s run-in with the law on Tuesday night on an empty stretch of road in Juhu has left the singer shaken but certainly not scared.
Speaking on Wednesday afternoon about the series of incidents leading to the ugly spat with a mob on the road, the soft-spoken Sawant said he felt he was being targeted only because he was a known face.
Says the singer, “On Tuesday night I attended a singers’ association’s meeting with my friends and colleagues. Among them was Prajakta Shukre. After the meeting we all left. Prajakta was in her Honda City. On the way she banged her car into a scooter which had two people on it. She called me in panic. And I immediately rushed to the spot to help her, as any friend would.”
Abhijeet, who is happily married, is appalled to read Prajakta being referred to in the papers as his “girlfriend”.
Protests the singer and reality-show host, “She is like my sister. Hum donon mein bhai-behen ka rishta hai. So I rushed to her rescue. When I got there I saw the situation was very bad. The mobs were getting very edgy and aggressive. When I tried to intervene they got rough with me and held my collar.”
Abhijeet denies being drunk or getting abusive with the public on the road. “Throughout I kept my cool and when the cops arrived we went to the police station.”
The injuries to the two boys on the scooter, says Abhijeet, are minor.
“There have been reports that we were drunk. That isn’t true More >

0…says actor Yash Pandit after bashing up model girlfriend in nightclub. After slapping his companion and dragging her out by her hair, Yash Pandit claimed he was merely trying to take her home. The battered model says they were simply very drunk
Nazia Sayed and Yogesh Sadhwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 15, 2010)
Beating up girlfriends and creating ruckus at public places is not just the ‘privilege’ of Bollywood A-listers. Some of the strugglers can give the big boys a huge run for their money. Around 2.45 am on Saturday at Aurus restaurant in Juhu, an argument between TV actor Yash Pandit, who also has a few forgettable movies to his name, and his model girlfriend Amruta Mane turned violent to such an extent that the place came to a standstill.
The restaurant bouncers got involved and cops were called in. But then, in a typical Bollywood style happy ending, the duo kissed and made up.
Yash Pandit and Amruta ManeThe drama began after Yash began screaming at Amruta, asking her to leave the place. Onlookers said both of them were heavily drunk, and so were around five of their friends. After a bout of yelling at each other, Yash slapped Amruta, who screamed back in rage. Abusing incessantly, Yash caught Amruta by the back of her head, twisted her arm and began dragging her out of the restaurant.
Eyewitnesses said Amruta too was hurling abuses at Yash on top of her voice and refused to leave. In a matter of 15 minutes, Yash must More >
Cops slow down Tez shoot
0Priyadarshan was ordered to stop shooting in London when a government body declared that a scene in his film showed cops in poor light
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 09, 2010)
Producer Ratan Jain and director Priyadarashan did not have an easy time while shooting for Tez in London. A lot of time was wasted and the actors were left to cool down in the hotel.
Tez stars Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Sameera Reddy in the main roles.
In London, for shooting purposes, one has to take prior permissions from transport bodies, appointed by the government.
One such body felt that certain scenes in the film would project the London police in a derogatory way.
They immediately asked for the shoot to be stopped. The makers were told that they would be allowed to resume shooting only when proper changes were made.”
Adds the source, “Apart from a few other objections, the main one by the transport body was that the hoodlums in Tez were running amok in London, without the police in the film being aware of their activities.
The London police is a smart force, and they surely wouldn’t have liked to be portrayed in such a fashion.”
Only after the changes in the script were made did the transport body allow Priyadarshan to resume shooting.
Anil Kapoor Ratan JainArt director of Tez, Sabu Cyril confirmed the story and said, “Yes, some changes had to be made with regards to the objections made by the transport body.

Sunny’s fans reveal an area of darkness
0The star was attending the opening of a local news channel in Patna, when a mob of raucous fans went beserk damaging around 30-40 cars
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 01, 2010) Manoj Tiwari
Sunny Deol would never have imagined that he would be the cause of this much fan frenzy; Deol was in Patna on Tuesday night for the launch of a local news channel when a mob went berserk and smashed the windscreens of many cars. Sunny had gone along with Mahima Chowdhury, Nisha Kothari, Raju Shrivastav and Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari.
Manoj Tiwari, who is also one of the owners of the newly launched channel, said, “Yes, we all had gone for the launch of the channel that we’ve launched in Bihar and Jharkhand called Aryan TV.
We left the hotel to head for the launch of the channel when there were hundreds of people on the road.
They knew the route we were taking. Fortunately I was aware of the people and their feelings, so I immediately opened the glasses of my car and waved to then.
They all were clinging to the car but slowly and surely I managed to sneak out. But once the cars of Sunny and others joined this cavalcade the crowd went berserk.
The local cops lathi charged and whisked away the cars, but the crowd went haywire smashing all the cars in the vicinity.
This resulted in a huge loss and many cars were seriously damaged.”
Tiwari further said, “I have never seen so much frenzy for anyone but what happened is unfortunate. The good part More >
Mr Khan and Ms Sinha, live
0Prem Raj’s birthday bash had one of Bollywood’s most wanted superstars and his camp living it up…
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 13, 2010)
It turned out to be a cosy evening, with a dash of tinsel. Prem Raj (director of Main Aurr Mrs Khanna) celebrated his birthday on Wednesday night at his apartment in Versova, co-hosting it with his brother Avi.
It was Salman Khan who lent it the sparkle and any speculations of Salman and Prem have fallen apart after the film turning out to be a turkey were safely put to rest, as Khan let his hair down (no pun intended) and chuckled with Raja Dhody and Jas Arora flanking him.
Prem Raj with Sonakshi SinhaAlso seen was younger brother Sohail Khan and his coterie: Vatsal Sheth, Yash Tonk, Vicky Chopra were seen mingling with guests. Then it suddenly began to resemble a wrap-up bash for Dabangg as Sonakshi walked in and so did Abhinav Kashyap. Atul and Alvira were also present along with Mushtaq Sheikh, a once-Shah Rukh loyal who is now clearly part of Salman’s camp.
Harman Baweja made an appearance too with his sister Rowena and was seen mingling with the crowd, looking dapper in a white tee, slick denim and a cap. Vodka and tequila shots had some ladies hooting with dizzy delight. The cops almost busted the bash too, but they didn’t!
Movie Review: ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI by FENIL SETA
0Most of the gangster films that we have seen in Bollywood have all been inspired from real men of underworld. And when makers of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai give a supposed indication that the film is a kind of biopic on the 2 famous dons, one might wonder-what will this film show that we haven’t seen or don’t know? And as expected, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai is to a great extent a been-there-done-that affair. However, still it makes for a riveting watch thanks to the brilliant performances and direction and a lot more factors! More about it later!
The story of the movie: The film is set in Bombay of 70s. Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn) is a powerful man but on the wrong side of the law. For the poor, he was messiah; for the cops, he’s a smuggler who should be put behind bars and for the bhai-log of Mumbai, he’s the mediator and advisor. Unlike other goons, Sultan doesn’t believe much in bloodshed and wants peace to remain on the streets of the city. He has found a love interest too, Rehana (Kangna Ranaut), a rising superstar of Bollywood. Enters Shoaib Khan (Emraan Hashmi), a ruthless roadside ruffian who gets included in Sultan’s gang. Little does Sultan know that this could be his most fatal mistake!
The first striking and unique feature that you’ll notice about Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai is Ajay’s brilliant characterization which is so different from the rest of the gangsters we have seen on celluloid. Here’s a man who is so bloody rich but yet is More >
