By Bollywood Hungama News Network, January 20, 2011 – 17:42 IST

Bollywood may be a star studded place but the celebrities aren’t far from trouble, the latest being Priyanka Chopra. The pretty damsel is in the limelight again but this time, its not for her film.

It is heard that Rakesh Kapoor, a tenant in Priyanka’s flat at Oberoi Sky Gardens house in Andheri, has not just refused to vacate it but has also resorted to forging certain documents pertinent to the renting and sale of the house.

As for details, it is learnt that Kapoor who has been staying there for the last couple of years, had the agreement terminating on December 31. It was only after receiving a notice from the actor to vacate, did Kapoor furnish documents that stated that Priyanka is bound to extend the agreement with him at any cost. The documents also stated that in case if she intends to sell her flat in future, the first preference should be given to Kapoor and the offer could be extended to someone else only if he refuses to buy.

Following the incident, the actress’s father Dr. Ashok Chopra, who holds the power of attorney on behalf of Priyanka, registered a complaint with the police.

The case has been filed under sections 465 (punishment for forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will etc), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 474 (intending to use forged documents as genuine) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of IPC.

Newcomer who cried molestation maliciously trying to defame, says director in his complaint to Versova police, legal action to follow

Deeptiman Tiwary & Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 20, 2011)

The Onir-Yuvraaj Parashar controversy took a new turn with the director lodging a formal complaint against the actor who accused him of molestation. Onir is also filing a defamation suit of Re 1 against Yuvraaj “to reclaim his dignity and integrity”. Incidentally, while both had approached the cops, Yuvraaj shied away from making a formal complaint.

Yuvraaj, who has acted in a film based on homosexuality, had alleged that last week when he went to Onir’s house in Versova to show his work, the director molested him. Onir has vehemently denied the charges saying the encounter with the 28-year-old actor was consensual and that Yuvraaj was doing this for cheap publicity.

On Monday, Yuvraaj approached the Versova Police Station alleging molestation by Onir but refused to lodge an official complaint. An officer from Versova Police Station said, “He came here and made a lot of hue and cry about Onir touching him inappropriately at his residence. We asked him to either give us a written complaint or record his statement with us so that we could start investigations. He, however, did neither and left the police station.”

Following this, Onir too approached the police and gave them a written complaint More >

…says actor Yash Pandit after bashing up model girlfriend in nightclub. After slapping his companion and dragging her out by her hair, Yash Pandit claimed he was merely trying to take her home. The battered model says they were simply very drunk

Nazia Sayed and Yogesh Sadhwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 15, 2010)

Beating up girlfriends and creating ruckus at public places is not just the ‘privilege’ of Bollywood A-listers. Some of the strugglers can give the big boys a huge run for their money. Around 2.45 am on Saturday at Aurus restaurant in Juhu, an argument between TV actor Yash Pandit, who also has a few forgettable movies to his name, and his model girlfriend Amruta Mane turned violent to such an extent that the place came to a standstill.

The restaurant bouncers got involved and cops were called in. But then, in a typical Bollywood style happy ending, the duo kissed and made up.

Yash Pandit and Amruta Mane

The drama began after Yash began screaming at Amruta, asking her to leave the place. Onlookers said both of them were heavily drunk, and so were around five of their friends. After a bout of yelling at each other, Yash slapped Amruta, who screamed back in rage. Abusing incessantly, Yash caught Amruta by the back of her head, twisted her arm and began dragging her out of the restaurant.

Eyewitnesses said Amruta too was hurling abuses at Yash on top of her voice and refused to leave. In a matter of 15 minutes, Yash must More >

A new law passed by the Federation Of Western India Cine employees will not allow any actor to shoot beyond 12 hours a day

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 12, 2010)

This will come as a huge respite to everyone in the film and television industry. FWICE (Federation Of Western India Cine employees) has passed a new law that no actor will be allowed to shoot beyond 12 hours in a day. Those who flout this norm will henceforth be penalized for it.

The members of FWICE had wanted to implement this rule for quite some time now. Not so long ago, they raided Ekta Kapoor’s set along with others in the city (Mumbai Mirror, Sep 1, 2010).

Dharmesh Tiwari

The FWICE members had started a drive after receiving complaints from various units, that TV producers were making cast and crew work for over 15 hours a day. The drive has finally borne fruit.

“Now, it’s a rule. Several cast and crew members were suffering from health problems, thanks to long hours of shooting,” says Raza Murad, Chairperson of the Dispute Settlement Committee, which facilitated the passing of this law.

Thankfully, the law is not lopsided and makes life easy for both producers and actors.

A time sheet diary is to be maintained by every actor, since producers constantly complain that they are forced shoot beyond 12 hours because actors come very late to shoots.

Having developed serious issues with the production team of Aditya Datt’s Will You Marry Me, Shreyas Talpade allegedly refused to dub for the film

Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 19, 2010)

Not too long ago, Mumbai Mirror reported that the entire star cast of Aditya Datt’s Will You Marry Me flew back home without completing the Dubai schedule, on realising that the makers weren’t left with any money.

Reportedly, the situation was so bad that the actors of the film, Rajeev Khandelwal, Celina Jaitly and Mugdha Godse had to foot their own hotel bills. Now, one hears, Shreyas Talpade has refused to dub for the film.

He is apparently upset with the production house since nothing has worked out as per the initial plan.

A source says, “The entire production team has caused constant delays in shoots. They have also had payment issues. Shreyas has been very upset with the production team and the director Aditya Datt and hasn’t turned up to dub for the film.

Shreyas is one of the most humble and chilled out guys in the team and never complains about anything. There must be something really serious that has upset the actor.”

Though Shreyas tried to laugh it off initially, he finally confessed and said, “Things keep happening on film sets every time, but I won’t let the film suffer. Yes, I was a little upset but at the same time, I wasn’t keeping too well. Isn’t it pretty common for little differences to happen on sets? Thodi bahut upar neeche More >

Amisha’s airport nightmare

Amisha Patel’s luggage was thrown around at the airport en route to Kolkata. She has filed a complaint

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 10, 2010)

Amisha Patel’s jaunt to Kolkata for a professional commitment yesterday morning turned out to be her worst nightmare. Amisha was allegedly mistreated by airport security staff, leaving her indignant. She has now written a formal letter to the head of the security staff at the airport complaining about the same.

An eye witness said, “Amisha was at the security check around seven in the morning when she had an altercation with a woman at the security check. Amisha was polite but the lady was extremely rude; when Amisha asked for a tray to place her bag in, the lady threw her bag. Amisha told her that the least she could do is smile and be polite. However the lady was in a grumpy mood and gave Amisha a piece of her mind.

Amisha was so annoyed that she went to speak to the head of the security staff. Here she was given an explanation that the lady had been working night shifts and was thus grumpy.

When Amisha requested that the least she could have done was to be polite, she was told that the security staff has an army background and so they are rude.

Amisha insisted that she would complain against the lady who was rude to her and wrote about this incident and gave it to the security guard.”

The eye witness further wrote, “Amisha was seen talking to the officials of the airline which she was More >

A day after he filed a complaint against his 27-year-old maid for stealing 5000 Euros from his house, violinist L Subramaniam, married to vocalist Kavitha Krishnamurthy, found himself battling attempt to rape charges

Manasi Paresh Kumar (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 07, 2010)

Recently, L Subramaniam found himself in the middle of a sex scandal, when his 27-year-old maid Bhagya filed a complaint against him at the Sanjay Nagar police station in Bangalore, on Friday morning. ‘Coincidentally’ the famed musician had filed a complaint against the maid a day earlier, for stealing 5000 Euros from his home.

The artiste resides in Dollars Colony with his singer wife Kavitha Krishnamurthy and two children. Subramaniam had kept 5000 euros in a locked drawer at his residence after returning from an international trip. Says Kavitha Krishnamurthy, “I had concerts in the US in June and my husband had accompanied me. We stopped over at Europe for a while.”

When the duo landed from Geneva on July 14, they declared 5000 Euros to the Customs department. But since the Euro exchange rate had dipped then, the family decided not to exchange the money immediately and locked it along with the declaration form in their bedroom.

Unearthing the truth behind IMPAA election scandal

Why is this election turning into an Agatha Christie whodunit? Read this to figure out…

Nazia Sayed (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 27, 2010)

After its vice-president received death threats to withdraw her nomination from the upcoming IMPPA elections, the cops called in Harish Sugandh for interrogation. What makes it Hitchcockian is that Sugandh happens to be a close associate of Shiromanee. It’s election time at IMPPA.

A member said, “There is something fishy here. How can someone who has called to threaten you also offer you money? We have all spoken to the police and they are looking in it. It might be a classic case of trying to gain sympathy from other members. We all are also wondering how Harish Sugandh, who is a close associate of Sushmaji, has been called for interrogation. We all think that it is a publicity stunt to gain sympathy.”

Another member said, “Let us just wait and watch. We all know who is here to work and who wants to gain from this election drama. Why would anyone threaten Sushma Shiromanee and since when has the IMPPA elections become relevant to the underworld? There is definitely foul play and we all are waiting for the investigation to end and find out who is behind this call and the motive of the call.”

Esha sues Ramu for non-payment of dues

Esha Deol has filed an official complaint against Ramu for non-payment of dues. He in turn has been labeled under a category called ‘non-cooperation’…

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 26, 2010)

Hema Malini was quick to oust director Mohit Puri from Tell Me Oh Khuda; wonder how she would react when she reads this. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has allegedly still not paid her daughter Esha Deol her full remuneration for his film Darling. The outstanding amount is nearly Rs 13 lakh.

A friend of Esha says, “Esha waited very long for Ramu (as Ram Gopal Varma is fondly called in the industry) to pay up. Despite repeated reminders, he did not pay heed to her.”

A livid Esha has filed a complaint in CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes’ Association) a year ago, but Ramu did not respond to the letters from CINTAA.

The case then reached the FWICE (Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees). Still Ramu has not responded. Now, the Federation has labelled the dispute as a ‘Non Cooperation Matter’.

“How long could Esha wait? She wants her money. So what if the film didn’t do well at the box-office,” says the same friend. When contacted, Ramu claimed, “That’s an old thing. To my knowledge, it was sorted out.”

However, Esha’s friend told Mumbai Mirror, “That’s rubbish. Esha is still fighting hard against Ramu in CINTAA only a few days ago. Her balance amount is Rs 12-13 lakh.”

Producer of Darling, Bhushan Kumar, said, “We had paid Ramu a lump sum for More >

Jawans misbehaved with me in Kolkata-Celina Jaitly

A furious Celina Jaitly vents her spleen against harassment she suffered at Kolkata airport

As told to Priyanka Dasgupta | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; August 9, 2010)

I was at the Kolkata airport where the Central Industrial Security Force jawans misbehaved with me. I was carrying an expensive bag and had asked for a tray where I could have it go through a security check. Moments after I had placed the bag on the tray, another jawan picked it up and banged it on the conveyor belt. That damaged the skin of the bag. I protested in Bengali and was told: “Madam, yahan Bengali nahin chalti!” In Kolkata! Miffed, I insisted on lodging a complaint.

It’s not about recognition. I’m a taxpayer. Why would I need to use my celeb clout to protest against injustice? Lewd comments were passed and questions were raised over whether my bag had a scratch prior to it being sent for a scan! My father is in the Army and so is my brother and I have tremendous respect for our jawans. But this is no way to treat a single woman, who is travelling alone. I was also told I was more than welcome to lodge a complaint.

But at the airport manager’s office, I was given a sheet meant for passengers to rate the cleanliness measures adopted at the airport! While all this was happening, someone recognised me. Another person pleaded that I should not lodge a complaint since my action might mean some heads rolling. Now I’ve returned to Mumbai and I’m waiting for my father to help More >
