THE DARK KNIGHT RISES had an excellent opening (English version esp). The dubbed versions too opened satisfactorily. The opening was lower than THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN as dubbed version business was lower and even the screen count was lesser. Business in South India was best especially Bangalore. The reports are mixed (more on the positive side) and it is likely that only English versions will score in India. Nevertheless, its the second biggest Hollywood opening of all time in the country.

The openings of CHALLO DRIVER, GAATU and MERE DOST PICTURE ABHI BAKI HAI were awful and all three are box office disasters. However, GATTU has received unanimous appreciation from audiences and critics alike. With THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, COCKTAIL, BOL BACHCHAN and regional films doing well, these films hardly got sufficient theatres to be screened.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES grossed around 1.75 crore nett in Mumbai, 1 crore nett approx in Delhi/UP and 35 lakhs nett in East Punjab.
