Another famous cricketer-film actress relationship goes for a toss
Confirming the break-up, a friend of Geeta’s says, “Harbhajan called off the relationship. He is now going around telling friends that he is looking for a new girlfriend.”
However, we hear, they still talk to each other. “There is no animosity at all. It’s just that they are no more a couple. They began to have differences, shortly after the IPL. The incompatibility levels amassed to irreconcilable proportions. Things spiralled out of hand.”
Geeta is feeling low but putting up a brave front. After all, she was very attached to Harbhajan, supporting him and cheering for him lustily on the ground in the many matches he played. “She really wanted this relationship to work. A lot of her friends in the industry want to ask her why this happened, and so suddenly. However, it would be very mean to ask her so soon.”
Standing up for Geeta, her friend adds, “She will now concentrate on her career. She has been getting a lot of offers for films. She should have realized that most relationships in the glamour world fail.”
When contacted, Geeta simply said, “No comments.”
Oh, it’s a Duck!

After a series of quarrels, Neha Dhupia and her sportsman beau Ritwik Bhattacharya decide to take a break from each other
All is not well between Neha Dhupia and Ritwik Bhattacharya. The petty bickering between them has reached a point where they have mutually decided to take a break from one another.
A source close to Neha reveals, “Neha and Ritwik have been dating each other for over ten years and have literally grown up with each other. But of late, they have been quarrelling over even small matters and this has resulted in much bitterness. Over the last 2-3 months, there have been reports of them being on and off with each other at regular intervals.”
The source continues, “With the arguments between them escalating, Neha and Ritwik have decided to take a break from each other and concentrate on their respective careers. They feel the distance will help them settle their thoughts and find a solution to their problems.”

The arrangement became apparent when Ritwik, who normally stayed with Neha during his visits to Mumbai, started checking into hotels. “For the past few months, whenever Ritwik has come down to Mumbai, he has stayed at a hotel. Recently Neha had gone to Goa, where she has a holiday home for Ritwik and herself, but this time she was all by herself. At a recent award function in Sri Lanka, Neha was overheard discussing her problems with Ritwik and how she is hoping their relationship can get back to normal. Neha is currently holidaying in Istanbul,” adds the source.
Neha was unavailable for comment.
|Abbas Tyrewala, (Right) Pakhi|
Pakhi has a turbulent past — in reel life that is, not real life. In her next film 1-800 Love, directed by her husband Abbas Tyrewala, Madhavan does a cameo, playing Pakhi’s ex-boyfriend.
In his debut film Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na, Abbas had a added a lot of surprise elements including Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Naseeruddin Shah.
In this film, he has roped in Madhavan to play the blast from the past in Pakhi’s life.
A source reveals, “The story revolves around Pakhi, who is in a relationship with Madhavan and has a very bad break-up because he cheats on her.
She gets into a major depression and almost commits suicide. That’s when she meets the lead actor, John Abraham.
Pakhi actually goes to call the suicide helpline but accidentally dials a wrong number, which puts her in touch with John.
Madhavan has already shot for his scene in London a few months ago. It is a surprise element in the film.
In took just one call by Abbas to Madhavan — he agreed to do the cameo immediately. And he suits the role perfectly.”
Madhavan and producer Madhu Mantena remained unavailable for comment.
Amisha Patel and her London-based businessman boyfriend Kanav Puri have kissed and made up. The couple had split earlier this year. The reason for the breakup was said to be Amisha’s repeated refusal to set a date for marriage.
Kanav apparently was keen on tying the knot and had made this clear to Amisha, but she was more interested in reviving her flagging acting career.
Explaining how the patch-up came about, a close friend of the couple said, “Recently, Amisha went to London and spent a lot of time with Kannav. They discussed the issue at length and realised that they are meant for each other. So they’ve decided to continue the relationship and think about marriage at a later stage,” added the source.
While Amisha could not be reached for comment, her mother Asha Patel said, “It is Amisha’s personal life. I don’t interfere in it.” Alright, Mom. Hit nahin, toh love sahin…

One catches Deepika Padukone in a fiery mood. And rightly so. Right after a very public break up with Ranbir Kapoor, she has found herself in the midst of one rumour after another. Whether it was her alleged proximity to Farhan Akhtar during the making of Karthik Calling Karthik (something which was rubbished in no uncertain terms by both the actors) or her so-called refusal to work with Ranbir (which was again passed off as idle gossip by people close to the actor), Deepika had to face an unnecessary storm when she would have rather spoken about her work.
In a happy professional scenario that she is currently enjoying with a line up of projects round the corner, she is also (unnecessarily) forced to spend her time and energy in response to insinuations that she could well be dating Siddharth Mallya. For the uninitiated, Siddharth is the son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya who is also the owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore, an IPL team for which Deepika Padukone is the Brand Ambassador.
“If I am sitting with the owner of my IPL team, there is no reason why I should be linked up to him”, Deepika flares up the moment this topic of discussion opens up, “If I am the face of the team, isn’t it obvious that I would be sitting up with? I would be there with him supporting my team, right? It’s but obvious that I would also be photographed. But does that mean I am going around with a guy? Come on, let’s grow up. All of this just doesn’t make any sense at all.”
Perhaps this is also because of her current ‘single status’.
“You know, all of this has become way too predictable”, Deepika forces a smile here, “Every fortnight there is one link up or another. Today, even if I go out with my cousin brother, I am sure to see a headline next morning with announcement of yet another new relationship of mine. Really, it’s all such a big joke now.”
How are her parents reacting to such ‘jokes’? Don’t they get furious when stories about her daughter fill tabloids for all the wrong reasons when instead she should have been in news for the plethora of work that she currently had in hand.
“I think even my parents have really given up now”, she sighs, “There is absolutely nothing for my parents as well to react at all. There are no clarifications required. All they want now is to read about the work that I am doing and this is what they expect from people as well. Of course initially it used to bother them as well me. I used to clarify about these news pieces and everyone would understand that eventually there was no truth in it all. However, now since I have been in the industry for 3 years now, all of us understand that most of the written word is untrue after all.”
Daddy’s girl Sonam Kapoor was endearingly shy around her papa when Anil dropped in on the sets of I Hate Luv Storys. The visit made Sonam very self-conscious as she happened to be shooting a mushy, candlelight dinner scene with co-star Samir Dattani at a suburban sea-facing lounge.
Perhaps it was the rumours about her dating the director of the film, Punit Malhotra, or maybe Anil Kapoor just wanted to spend quality time with his daughter, but he made an impression with his visit. Sonam was bashful and refused to do the intimate close-ups with Samir. He played his part first, while Sonam prompted him by reading out her lines.
The scene in question included a proposal and a break-up. A source says, “The crew was teasing Sonam about Anil’s probable appearance at the shoot and wondering if she would be able to carry off the scene in front of him. Sonam was confident that she could.”
Later, however, maybe Sonam requested Punit to help her or the director just decided to avoid the awkwardness, Sonam shot her scenes only after papa Kapoor left the sets.
Says Samir Dattani, “Mr Anil Kapoor did drop in on the sets while I was shooting with Sonam. It was a pleasure to have him there.”

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor realised it when she divorced and remarried Richard Burton. Although it took longer in the case of television actress Pooja Ghai, three years to be precise, she too rediscovered her love for former husband Niraj Rawal.
Pooja and Niraj remarried yesterday afternoon. The couple had divorced in 2007 after which Pooja was in a steady relationship with Vikas Kalantri.
A friend of Pooja said, “Pooja is very happy now. She and Niraj had a grand wedding ceremony at a suburban five star hotel yesterday afternoon. All their friends are really happy for the couple. Pooja was in a relationship with Vikas for two years. However, he was not keen to get married to her so they broke off some months ago.
Although Niraj and Pooja had an acrimonious break up, Niraj was keen to reunite with Pooja and had been trying to win her back for a long time. Their son Raaj was staying with Pooja and her mother Veena Ghai after the divorce.”
Pooja and Niraj were unavailable for comment.
After splitting with his childhood sweetheart Priyanka, Neil Nitin Mukesh is thankfully not doing a Devdas number. His idea of getting over heartbreak is rather simple: seek the company of beautiful women to take his mind off the break-up. A few days ago, he went with Deepika Padukone to watch a film at Juhu. Last Friday, he was spotted in a suburban five-star restaurant (in Santacruz East) with Asin.
A source says, “The two looked very, very comfortable with each other. They came together, they left together.” Talking to us from Bangkok, where he is shooting for two commercials, Neil confirmed that he had gone out with Asin. He said, “Asin and I are friends. We’ve been wanting to go out for dinner for some time now. Last week, everything fell into place and it just happened.”
Is he dating the Ghajini girl, we asked? “No, baba. I am not dating anybody. I am single and enjoying my single status.”
And how does he know Asin so well, considering that he hasn’t worked with her yet? Neil replied mischievously, “Oh, come on. In Bollywood, you don’t need to work with someone to be friends with them. It’s a small world, yaar.” Talking about his outing with Deepika, he said, “She is a good friend and a co-star in Pradeep Sarkar’s film. She and I went to see Karthik Calling Karthik, where she plays the female lead. Big deal, man!”
For someone who wanted to choose her husband through a swayamwar on TV, Rakhi Sawant seems unusually perturbed at Rahul Mahajan’s wedding.
“How can one marry by choosing his or her soul mate through a public voting system?” wonders Sawant, probably harking back to her own short-lived engagement with Elesh Parujanwala, chosen via public votes in the last season of the same TV series that Rahul participated in.
“Dimpy bali ka bakra ban gayi hai. There is a huge age difference between Rahul and Dimpy. I am sure that this will lead to differences between them. Also Rahul’s temperament is very volatile and everyone cannot tolerate that. In fact, Rahul should have thought twice before marrying Dimpy because of these reasons. Very soon, you all get to hear that Rahul aur Dimpy ka separation ho gaya hai,” she says.
“As I earlier said that it is really difficult to choose a life partner through a public poll. I thought of only getting engaged with Elesh instead of marrying him so that I could get more time to decide. But as time passed, I started feeling that he was not the right person for me. He just wanted to marry me because he wanted be part of my glamorous life. Things got so bad that now I really hate him,” informs Rakhi.
Next pit stop…
…Parliament. Rakhi might have had done a lot of films but somehow she has failed in proving herself as a serious actress. “I have really worked hard for building my image in the industry and this I have done without having any godfather to promote me. Being a full time actress is not something I aspire to. You never know, one day people will see me in parliament. The benchmarks of success are different for me. I started as an item dancer and today I have turned a businesswoman by launching a beauty salon and by establishing a studio. I am happy with what I am doing,” says Rakhi.

One-time Bollywood couple – Aftab Shivdasani and Aamna Shariff — call it quits
Aftab Shivdasani and Aamna Shariff have gone their separate ways. The couple has not been spotted together for a while now. Buzz is that cracks began developing in their relationship in November, soon after the debacle of Aao Wish Karein – Aftab’s production – which starred him alongwith his ladylove.
Says a source, “Things turned sour when Aftab began openly expressing that if he had a known actress for his co-star, things would’ve been better for Aao Wish Karein. An obviously miffed Aamna expressed her displeasure.”
To her advantage?
Adds the source, “Somewhere down the line, Aftab also felt that the telly actress was utilising her friendship with him to her advantage. He took her along to several B-Town events and parties and she soon started developing her contacts as she was always keen to make it in Bollywood despite flop films to her credit.”
Buzz is that the actor was keen to settle down with Aamna. She had even accompanied him to the US to meet his sister and her family who is based there.
|Aftab was dating Czech model-actress Yana Gupta (best remembered for her Babujee Zara Dheere item number) before hooking up with Aamna. Though Aamna never accepted that she was seeing her Balaji soap co-star Rajeev Khandelwal, they were always considered a couple.|
Aftab’s aunt Rama responded to the SMS sent to him saying, “Aftab has high fever and can’t comment.”
Though both stars never acknowledged each other’s presence in their lives, the first whispers of their romance trickled in as soon as they began shooting for Aloo Chat in 2008.
After her television outing as Kashish in the Balaji soap Kahiin To Hoga, it was a dream come true for Aamna when she was cast as a heroine. Aftab, on the other hand, agreed to star with a TV actress as he was the solo hero of the film. Aftab did not know Aamna before the shoot of the film. But both bonded on the sets from day one and were drawn to each other.
