Sridevi and sister Srilatha make up after years
0Subhash K Jha (DNA; April 24, 2013)
The property dispute between Sridevi and her sister Srilatha is a thing of the past. Almost two decades ago, Sridevi was involved in a legal battle with sister Srilatha. Again, it seems Srilatha, at the instance of her husband, sued Sridevi because of which the actress had to shell out a lump sum, and the siblings stopped talking to each other. But now the estranged sisters have patched up and established a comfort, thanks to Boney Kapoor’s mediation.
Pages from the past The death of her mom had left Sri shattered. Her sister’s marriage at that time made her sense of isolation more excruciating. Her sister was her constant companion, friend and confidante. Srilatha had played a crucial role in her professional rise too. There was a time when she shadowed Sri with a video camera in hand shooting her dances, her expressions, in fact her every move. At night they watched the results, worked on a better image, and unobtrusively, Sri transformed herself. That’s why, after Srilatha’s marriage, Sridevi seemed withdrawn and unsure. “Without my sister, I feel so incomplete,” she confided to a friend.
Party time Sri and hubby Boney have been partying non-stop for the entire week ever since she received the Padma Shri award last week. On Monday evening in Chennai, Sridevi’s sister Srilatha threw a party. The night before that, the duo was in Hyderabad to attend a party in Sridevi’s honour hosted by her cousin Maheshwari. Says Sridevi, “I see my More >

Arjun finally gives dates for Boney’s Abbas-Mustan film?
0Asira Tarannum (MID-DAY; January 22, 2013)
Looks like Arjun Kapoor has finally made time to give a go-ahead for his father Boney Kapoor’s upcoming project. The newbie, who had a busy timetable earlier, was initially unable to commit dates for the film. And word is that now Boney has gone ahead and signed Abbas-Mustan to direct his son.
However, both Boney and Arjun were unwilling to divulge details about their coming- together. The filmmaker replied to our SMS, “ I will speak to you about it after a few days.” Arjun said, “Ask dad, I am shooting.” In the meanwhile, a source close to Boney was more willing to come out with the particulars. He says, “This project is very close to Boney as he has cast his son in it. It’s confirmed that Abbas-Mustan will helm the film.” At present, Arjun is shooting for his next film, Gunday, with Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
Boney Kapoor shown the door by Sahara?
0Sources say that the producer is no longer part of Subrata Roy’s production company and channel
Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; January 21, 2013)
It looks like Subrata Roy’s production company and channel, Sahara India Parivar, are in for a big overhaul. And it appears that Boney Kapoor has become one of the first victims. Sources say that the producer has not been spotted in the office over a month now and if rumours are to be believed, Boney is no longer a part of the company.
A source says, “The entire Sahara channel and the production house are going for a revamp and Sandeep Wadhwa has joined the channel as its head. After two years, Boney is out of Sahara.” Insiders say that although there have been no major issues and Boney’s exit has been without any controversy, the fact that the producer did not take any project on the floor in the last two years has not gone down well with the group.
The source adds, “The much- talked about show Sur Kshetra has also not done as well as expected. After the finale over a month ago, Boney has not been seen in the office.” Another source from the company says, “No one knows what exactly transpired.” Boney and the channel remained unavailable for comment.

Sridevi teases elder daughter about weak Hindi
0Parag Maniar (BOMBAY TIMES; December 24, 2012)
Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Jhanvi has trouble speaking in Hindi. In fact, Sridevi keeps teasing her about it. A source said, “Sridevi keeps pulling Jhanvi’s leg by making Hindi conversations with her. Jhanvi lands up speaking the language funnily, with a nasal twang and a little bit of an accent and that humours Sridevi.”
Jhanvi, however, takes all this very sportingly. “Jhanvi has no qualms admitting that she is weak in the language and hopes to master it one day,” said the source.
Interestingly, it took time for Sridevi to get familiar with Hindi when she started her career in Hindi films. In Aakhree Raasta, veteran actress Rekha had dubbed for her.
Prabhu Dheva on his first Bollywood hit-Que Sera Sera
0As told to Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 17, 2012)
I had been choreographing and dancing for a good 12 years before I did Que sera sera for Boney Kapoor. I did it for two reasons - one, I shared a good rapport with Boney and the more important reason, Madhuri Dixit. She’s just too good.
When Madhuri dances, it’s like fire and lightning together. When we started rehearsing for the song in Pukar, I realised everything I had heard about her was true. She was so driven. Not once did she get intimidated by the beats in AR Rahman’s song.
Moreover, I didn’t try to simplify the steps for her. A lot of heroines ask me to make the dance steps easier. But not Madhuri. In fact, she told me, ‘I’ll do 40-50 rehearsals. I’ll do whatever is required.’ Eventually, she needed fewer rehearsals. She not only matched me but even outdid me in the number.
There was a lot of Michael Jackson in the choreography. But that’s me, isn't it? Madhuri did the moonwalk in Que sera sera perfectly. We didn't think it would become so iconic.
However, I couldn’t enjoy the success. Suddenly there was a huge demand for Madhuri and me to perform together on stage. Sadly, I wasn’t in Mumbai at the time. I got to perform on stage with her several years later. And neither of us had forgotten a single step.
A lot of credit for the song’s success goes to Rahman. Que sera sera had a very unusual rhythm. It was a challenge for me to pick up Rahman’s beats and translate them into dance steps. That song brought More >
Bipasha-Lara-Celina bag No Entry Mein Entry?
0Director Anees Bazmee has finalised three of the ten heroines for the sequel to his 2005 blockbuster No Entry that stars Salman, Anil and Fardeen
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 8, 2012)
It’s a double whammy for Anees Bazmee. Not only will the director kick-start his collaboration with Sohail Khan that does not star Salman Khan (Mumbai Mirror, November 6), he will also begin Boney Kapoor’s No Entry Mein Entry that sees three actors: Salman, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan in double roles. However, it doesn’t end there. The latest development on the No Entry Mein Entry front is that Bazmee has chosen Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta and Celina Jaitly as the three leading ladies in his film. Incidentally, the sequel to the 2005 blockbuster No Entry will be both Lara and Celina’s first film post motherhood. And while three of the beauties have been finalised, the film features ten heroines. “The search for the remaining seven actresses continues. This isn’t an easy cast to put together,” said a source close to the project. Speaking about the chosen three, the source said, “Bipasha, Lara and Celina will be seen in very glamorous roles. They have all agreed to do the film.”
Earlier on October 26, on the sidelines of the launch of a music album, Bazmee had told a section of the media, “I feel the script of No Entry Mein Entry is written beautifully and it will definitely turn out to be a good film”. However when probed about the ten femme fatales in his film, he had refrained from More >
Shekhar Kapur finalized to direct Mr India 2?
0Producer Boney Kapoor has roped in not only the original director but also the lead pair Anil Kapoor and Sridevi for the ambitious sequel
Vikey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 8, 2012)
Finally, India’s original invisible man is all set to reappear on the silver screen. And producer Boney Kapoor has decided to retain the original director for the ambitious sequel to the 1987 hit Mr India. A source close to Boney told Mirror that as of now, it is Shekhar Kapur who will direct the film. Incidentally, when the last schedule of Kites was being shot, Anurag Basu was asked to don the director’s mantle for the Mr India sequel. But our source maintained that Boney and his creative team had always wanted Shekhar for the film. “But Shekhar had prior commitments and had said that he would be present as the creative consultant on the project,” added the source. But things seem to have changed since then. When contacted, Shekhar told Mirror, “Well, it is too early to talk about this. But yes, Boney and I have been talking about it often.”
And that’s not all. Unlike the earlier plan, the film’s original leading couple Anil Kapoor and Sridevi (now producer Boney’s wife) will also be a part of the project. Though not in the lead roles, this time around, Anil and Sridevi will be seen portraying important characters.
Also, reportedly, Salman Khan would be a part of the project. Boney had said earlier, “I don’t think I can make a film without Salman. He is in Mr India 2 and also in the More >
