Movie Review: BOL BACHCHAN by FENIL SETA
0Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben famously said, “With great power comes great responsibility”! This holds true for Rohit Shetty who is one of the most significant directors of Bollywood after delivering back-to-back hits. His last release, Singham, was easily his best and hence he would have surely been very very careful while scripting his next, Bol Bachchan. After all, he can’t go wrong after delivering something like Singham. The not-so-great promos did make many presume that the film too won’t be upto the mark. Thankfully, that’s not the case. Bol Bachchan is immensely entertaining and boasts of some incredible ROFL moments! What’s more, it’s a clean family entertainer! Surely a winner!
The story of the movie: Abbas Ali (Abhishek Bachchan) and his sister Sania (Asin) are neck deep in financial problems. Taking heed of Shastri’s (Asrani) advice, they shift from Delhi to Ranakpur where Abbas hopes to find a decent job at the place of most powerful man of the town, Prithviraj (Ajay Devgn). Prithiviraj is kind-hearted but very strong, ruthless and hates liars. Sadly, circumstances force Abbas to change his name to Abhishek Bachchan when he introduces himself to Prithvi! Abbas finds a well-paid job but he has to say many more lies to cover up his first jhoot, ensuing loads of laughs for the viewers!
Bol Bachchan begins with the extremely mediocre title song. The beginning portions of Abhishek and Asin too didn’t quite make a mark. The film gets on track as they move to Ranakpur and More >
Will Ajay-Asin jodi prove lucky second time?
0By Joginder Tuteja, October 19, 2011 – 10:48 IST
Asin has enjoyed her status of being the only newcomer to have registered two centuries already when it comes to box office returns. With Ghajini as well as Ready doing over Rs. 100 crores each just in India, she has managed an enviable success rate. However, what pains her heart till date is the fact that her London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn didn’t do well at the box office. So while with Salman she managed to make amends with Ready, she is now keeping her fingers crossed and is quite positive that her second time pairing with Ajay (in Bol Bachchan) would allow her another hit pairing.
“Asin still feels sad about London Dreams“, says a friend of the actress, “Though Ghajini as well as Ready were remakes and she had acted in the former and pretty much knew what the latter was all about, London Dreams was an original and boasted of a new setup for Asin. She always felt that she and Ajay looked good together and it was a matter of time before they were paired again. She just waited for the right setup and it came her way with Bol Bachchan. She feels that the film has good enough potential to establish her ‘jodi’ with Ajay. After Salman, she now wants to strike gold with Ajay on this film.”
Well, she can be pretty much assured that she and Ajay would indeed get second time lucky, what with the man at the helm of affairs, Rohit Shetty, enjoying an enviable box office outing. Boasting of the kind of success rate that More >

0By Taran Adarsh, July 26, 2011 – 08:29 IST
What’s the latest on the remake of ANGOOR, which is expected to star Shah Rukh Khan [in the role essayed by Sanjeev Kumar] and directed by Rohit Shetty? Well, the rumor mills are agog with the news that Rohit is keen to start the film now that SINGHAM has released. “Well, I have had meetings with Shah Rukh, but till we finalize the script, we won’t go ahead with it,” Rohit clarifies.
There’s talk that Rohit is also planning a project with Ranbir Kapoor. “That the latest rumor doing the rounds [smiles]. We haven’t discussed a film project, so the question of starting a film just doesn’t arise,” he reveals. Meanwhile, Rohit has started BOL BACHCHAN, a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s GOLMAAL, starring dear friend Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. Though the film is based in North India, a good chunk of the movie will be filmed in Rohit’s fav destination — Goa.

Genelia D’Souza opts out of Bol Bachchan?
0The actress decided that her role in the Abhishek starrer was too inconsequential and opted out
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 18, 2011)
His reputation for over crowding his films with A-listers and undertaking exclusively male centric projects has paid off for the most part for director Rohit Shetty. But, with the latest turn of events he might have to reconsider this formula that has usually won him critical acclaim.
Reportedly, the leading lady in his upcoming production Bol Bachchan, Genelia D’Souza, felt inconsequential in the Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn starrer and so, opted out of the film.
Apparently, Shetty was rather taken-aback by the actress’s decision and tried very hard to convince her to stay on-board.
However, Genelia, who was to essay Bindiya Goswami’s character in the original, was adamant about not going forward with the project. A source explained that while Shetty has had to return to the drawing board to cast another actress, his losses are minimal as the film has not yet gone on floors.
The source explained, “If shooting was in process, Shetty would have to re-shoot with Genelia’s replacement, which in turn would have increased the cost of the film.
At least now, producers Ashtavinayak will not have to bear a hole in their pocket. It was a good call for Genelia to opt out before the film went on floors.”
When asked why the actress opted out, the source said, “When she read the script, Genelia felt that she didn’t have a very More >

Rohit Shetty may be busy with his upcoming release Singham which opens on July 22 but the talented filmmaker already has big plans for his next venture Bol Bachchan.
The comedy flick was announced a while ago with Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles and now the buzz is that Rohit has got Asin and Genelia DSouza to play the female leads in this fun-filled film.
Interestingly, this is the first time that Asin and Genelia would be working together and its does make for an interesting casting.
Bol Bachchan is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and Ajay Devgn Ffilms. Shooting begins in mid-August this year and the film will release in early 2012.
