He will return as host on the third season of the TV show, but only on his own terms this time
As far as the show Dus Ka Dum is concerned, it seems Salman Khan is irreplaceable. The broadcasters of the show have realised this over time. Last week, they called up Salman and asked him to return to the show. And guess what? Salman agreed!
The acrimonious fallout that Salman had with the channel three months ago is over now. Next year, the superstar will return to the third season of the show as the host.
Explaining how it all happened, our source says, “The broadcasters told Salman, ‘Sir, we’ll do it as per your terms and conditions.’”
Apparently, a lot of efforts were made to get a replacement for Salman but all in vain. But you wonder if the broadcasters of Bigg Boss would be miffed if Sallu went back to Dus Ka Dum. Said the source, “Not at all. Salman doesn’t have a binding contract with them. He can always do Bigg Boss next year again if he wants apart from doing Dus Ka Dum.”
When Salman walked out of Dus Ka Dum early in August this year, which caused a delay in the third season of the show, it was supposedly because the channel was not inclined to give Salman a remuneration hike. At that time, Salman made it amply clear to the channel that he will return to the show again but strictly on his own terms.
According to insiders from the television industry, Salman had charged Rs 89 crore for the 104 episodes that were telecast in the first season of Dus Ka Dum. And for the second season of the show, the actor had reportedly asked for a decent increment of Rs 44 crore. But even that didn’t materialise. Then, Salman slashed his fee for the second season after the channel admitted a cash crunch as a result of the economic recession (Mumbai Mirror, August 4, 2010).
Says the source, “Considering Salman agreed to a fee cut in the second season, shouldn’t the channel telecasting Dus Ka Dum have given him a fee hike in the third season? Anyway, 10 Ka Dum is very dear to Salman; that was his first show on Indian television.”
Salman Khan did not allow the team of Guzaarish to promote their film on Bigg Boss. But talks are still on, insists the marketing team of the film…
Thanks to Salman Khan’s weekend appearances, Bigg Boss has become immensely popular with its viewers. Naturally, filmmakers have been eyeing the show to come and promote their respective films on it.
One such film that was finalised for the show was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. However, when Salman learnt about it, he told the channel in no uncertain terms that the Guzaarish team will not be allowed on the show.
Our source said, “The marketing team of Guzaarish and the channel were in talks and everything was finalised. Both the production house and the channel were keen that the Guzaarish team appeared on the show.
No one realised that it would actually be a very awkward situation for both Salman Khan, the host of the show and Aishwarya Rai, the leading lady of the film, given their past. Obviously, when Salman learnt about it, he immediately refused to comply.”
Although Salman is very close to both Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he apparently did not want to be in a situation where he would have to come face to face with Aishwarya Rai. The channel had no say in the matter after this. The marketing team had no option but to refuse the Guzaarish team.”
Apparently, Salman had also visited the sets of Guzaarish some time ago at Mehboob Studios and met Hrithik and Bhansali. After all, since his Khamoshi days, Salman has revered Bhansali and his work; till date the film remains one of Salman’s best works.
Post that, Sallu and Bhansali created magic in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Later, Salman went on to work with Bhansali again in Saawariya. And who knows, they probably plan to work together again.
“But to be fair, allowing the Guzaarish team in would have landed Sallu in a situation he never wanted to be in. It’s a thing of the past and both Ash and Sallu have consciously avoided meeting one another,” says the source.
So be it. But when contacted, the channel spokesperson said, “It’s not true. Talks with the Guzaarish team are still on.”
The Great Khali is fighting a battle for kids in a Bollywood jungle adventure
TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; October 27, 2010)
There’s no confusing WWE wrestler The Great Khali. He stands head and shoulders over everybody else. From the ring to television and from television to films, has been just a bone-jarring kick, punch and leap for the giant. Now here he is in the Bollywood film Ramaa — the Saviour, a fast-paced, jungle adventure with a cast of children to be released on November 12. It’s produced by Abdul Aziz Bablu for God Willing Entertainment Production and directed by Haadi Abrar.
Khali was in India promoting WWE when Abdul and Haadi showed him the first promo of the film and made the wrestler an offer he could not refuse. The film’s cast of six kids face each other in a dance competition which ends in a tie. The prize is that they get to play a newly launched video game — The Last Battle, which comes to life and takes the kids on an adventure to a mystical island called Azra that is ruled by the evil game lord Khali. To defeat Khali, the kids join forces with Ramaa, the jungle lord of Azra. And they are assisted by the true ruler of the island, The Great Khali! The giant WWE champion, being in the Bigg Boss house, was unavailable for comment. But knowing his record for defeating baddies in the ring, there’s no prize for guessing what he’d say about fighting villains on the island of Azra: “Bring them on!”

Mahesh Bhatt’s shy son Rahul Bhatt is shy no more. Lately he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. If all had gone well, Mahesh Bhatt would’ve launched his boy in Suicide Bomber which the former Bhatt protégé Anurag Basu promised to direct as Rahul’s launch pad.
A promise that the Bhatts are still waiting for Basu to fulfil. But now, the impatient Bhatt scion seems to have lost the will to wait. His decision to go into the Bigg Boss house at this stage of his life has apparently caused Mahesh great concern.
Mahesh was planning to finally launch Sunny-boy in the sequel to Jism. But Rahul is now on a rebellious trip. He turned down his dad’s offer for a belated launch in Jism 2 instead of Suicide Bomber and chose to go into Bigg Boss which many of well-wishers of the Bhatts feel is more suicidal than the Suicide Bomber.
Now we suddenly hear Rahul making abrasive remarks like, “Mahesh Bhatt and Headley are the two monkeys on my back” and… “Shweta Tiwari is line-maroing on me (inside Bigg Boss House). And I don’t like it.”
Mahesh Bhatt stands by his son’s comment. “Rahul is being brutally honest. He has the guts to see and say things as they are.”
Mahesh admits Rahul is up for Jism 2. “But Rahul has made his choice. He has chosen Bigg Boss.”
The concerned but non-interfering father still feels Suicide Bomber would be the best launch for Rahul. “Our doors are open for Anurag Basu to come and pick up the threads from where he left off. But now Suicide Bomber will have a global perspective. Three years ago, Rahul said no to Kalyug when I offered it to him. Now he has opted for Bigg Boss instead of Jism 2. When I asked him why he said, ‘Let me stand or fall on my own feet.’ He didn’t want to put his life on hold for a film launch.’
Then Mahesh drops his bomb. “Get this straight. It is not in human power to make a bud blossom. A touch of life makes the flower bloom and spread its wings. Sometimes it’s best to let a flower go wild. Life is the best gardener.”
Hidden in the rhetoric’s is a message for Rahul’s son.
Come back from Bigg Boss. And Jism 2 is waiting

The Article: ’50 Things You Didn’t Know About Amitabh Bachchan’.
The Mission: To discover ’50 Things About Amitabh Bachchan’.
Big B just got a year older earlier this month (October 11, to be precise) and he was all over the news channels on that day. But what is not known about Big B is that his pet name is Munna, he always got punished for mud fights and scribbling on the walls.
Even though Big B was the host of Bisg Boss last season, his first boss (yes, he had a boss) name was Neel Ghosh! The first thing that Big B saw in a theatre was The Flying Deuces. Not many know that he got paid Rs. 3000 out of Rs. 5000 as his first ever payment! Not just that, he simply loves to read and re-read Gone With The Wind. There are a truck load of facts and facets of his life that we discovered only through this article.
All in all, a REAL COLLECTOR’S ISSUE. Period!
Ali Merchant, who is engaged to actress Sara Khan, is unperturbed by the tele-romance supposedly brewing between her and Ashmit
The broadcaster of Bigg Boss can stop fooling the public.
At least that’s what TV actor Ali Merchant strongly feels. According to Ali, the fourth season of the show, which has thrown up an in-house romance between TV actress Sara Khan and Amisha Patel’s brother Ashmit, is definitely stage-managed. There has been a recent rumour that Ali and Sara have been married for a year.
Buzz is that the shaadi happened in Bhopal.
Ali and Sarah first met first at an award ceremony in 2008. Sara also used to visit Ali’s mom’s parlor regularly. Soon, sparks flew. The rest, as they say, is history.
When we called Ali yesterday evening to check what was happening on his personal front at present, the guy was completely unperturbed. Doesn’t Sarah’s close proximity with Ashmit on the tube harrow Ali, we asked? Ali said that he is not an insecure man. “Oh, all that gets the channel the TRPs.
Nothing for me to worry on that. Actually, Sara treats Ashmit like a father,” he lashed out. Added Ali, “Directly or indirectly, I am in touch with whatever is happening inside the Bigg Boss House,” Now, how does he do that?

After Raja Choudhary’s savage attack at his estranged wife’s residence, Abhinav Kohil boldly confesses his love for the Bigg Boss contestant
It can now be told. Shweta Tiwari and Abhinav Kohli are in a rock steady relationship. As things stand today, the couple plans to get married as soon as Shweta breaks free from Raja Chaudhary legally.
For the first time, Anhinav admits to their relationship. Yesterday afternoon, he told Mumbai Mirror, “Shweta and I love each other. It’s been a year-and-half now. We are going very strong.”
We then spoke to a very close friend of Abhinav, who spilled the beans on Abhinav-Shweta love story.
Abhinav’s friend revealed, “Abhinav and Shweta are madly in love. Shweta’s mother has also accepted Abhinav. In fact, Abhinav has been staying at Shweta’s place ever since she left for Bigg Boss 4.
It was Shweta who asked Abhinav and her rakhi brother Mohan to stay and look after her mother in her absence. In fact, she had even feared that Raja Chaudhary would try to break into their house, which unfortunately happened (on October 17).”
Added Abhinav’s friend, “It all started on the sets of the TV serial which Abhinav and Shweta did together in 2009, Jaane Kya Baat Hui.”
Abhinav was also seen on the sets of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 3, which Shweta Tiwari anchored. Abhinav would come on the sets with homemade food for Shweta but was very careful not to be seen with her to avoid public attention. It was a very filmi situation.
Shweta was just separated from her husband; Abhinav was just finding his bearings in the TV world. Sparks were flying between them, but both tried to ward off their feelings.
In fact, they even took a month-long break from each other, but their feelings just wouldn’t die down. Finally, they felt that any more staying away from each other was tantamount to punishing themselves. As things stand today, Shweta’s daughter Palak also loves Abhinav; pyaar se she calls him AB.
When contacted again, Abhinav simply said. “I don’t want to say anything more on this. It’s too personal.”
Kasab’s lawyer, Abbas Kazmi, who’s just out of a reality show, says every inmate in the house can stoop to any level to win
Divya Pal (BOMBAY TIMES; October 13, 2010)
Why do you think you were ousted from Bigg Boss’house right at the start…
I believe the masses didn’t support me because they are still angry with my decision to defend Kasab. But I want people to understand the reasons for which I made that choice. The only message I want to convey is – Agar main nahin toh koi doosra vakeel Kasab ko represent karta. It has been mentioned in our Constitution that every criminal should get at least a lawyer to fight his/her case. Aur court ne mujhe appoint kiya tha. I didn’t become Kasab’s lawyer because I wanted to. Bharat sarkar ne mujhe meri fees di thi. Kanoon ki zaroorat thi jo maine poori kari.
What’s next? High-profile criminals like Kasab to participate in reality shows, especially when former dacoit Seema and Devinder Singh aka superchor Bunty have set an example?
I want people to understand that Seemaji was earlier a dacoit. It was her past and now she lives the life of a respectable citizen. We have to understand that Valmiki too was a dacoit at one time before he became a sage. Toh har ek ka past hota hai. We should also look at one’s reformed self, which is important for society. As far as Devinder goes, I think he couldn’t understand the entire format of the show. Usko barabar brief nahin kiya gaya tha.
Has your stay helped you get an insight into the criminal minds of contestants?
I know who is playing what game. Lekin main negativity main nahin jaana chahta. I could’ve stayed longer but there was enough backbiting happening, it was evident from Day 1. I have no regrets leaving the house. I belong to a noble profession so I couldn’t have stooped to levels that others could. I’m happy that despite dirty politics, which is a part of the game, I was my true self.
Will you be seen in any other reality show?
Chaska toh mujhe college se laga hai. I have always been used to applause and standing ovation which is quite natural when you are a stage actor. College se hi I was interested in acting. Law is my profession but acting has always been my hobby. And whenever, I would get spare time, I’d pursue it. This is not my first TV show. I played a judge in the television serial Your Honour before as well. So, if I get anything interesting to do, I would accept the challenge. But it is also a fact that I’m a difficult person. People can’t deal with me.
What about reports that you have been asked to resign as managing trustee of Imamia Masjid…
Nobody has asked me to resign. These are just some people with vested interests who may have expressed their views to the media. No one has the authority to ask me to resign. Agar koi raah chalta aadmi Manmohan Singh ko resign karne ko kahe toh… does it make any sense. I was not shocked to read the report because during the controversy regarding Kasab’s case too these same people had expressed their displeasure.

Salman Khan may have sung ‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain‘ to his on-screen love Sonakshi in Dabangg but since the last few days its Sallu’s Nain (read ‘eye’) that has become the talk of the town. The actor has been seen sporting glares to most events including his Being Human fashion show and since then tongues have been wagging about some injury caused to Salman’s left eye. A newspaper article even went on to state that Sallu had developed bags under his eyes and had undergone surgery for the same because of which he is required to wear shades.
However, Salman being Salman, took everything with a pinch of salt, and thought its best to clarify to his fans via Twitter. The actor tweeted, “Thx fr the concern. It was jst a small scratch near the eye but b cs of all the commitments vit big boss, launch of being human watches, The being human fashion show, I had to attend all these functions n so b cs of the energy the blod clot spread in the whole eye”
The actor in his own quirky humorous style also added, “Dint tweet a pic cs it wld scare the hell out of u, wen thr is actually nothing to it , of course it hurts n vision is a slight blurr but vil be fine in a few days”
However, within a few minutes, Sallu did a post a pic of himself without his glares and jokingly tweeted, “Yeh lo meri aankhon mein khoon savaaaar hai whoooo whooooo aaahhhhhh hahahahah ha”
Must say when it comes to sporting the bindaas attitude, there is no one who comes close to Salman Khan.
Criminal lawyer asked to resign from his post as trustee of Imamia Masjid for his ‘embarrassing behaviour’ on the show
The reality of Bigg Boss has come home a bit too forcefully for Abbas Kazmi, who represented 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Qasab. The criminal lawyer, who was eliminated from the house after the votes went against him, has now been asked to resign from his position as managing trustee of the Imamia Masjid by community leaders.
Kazmi had done a Salman on the sets of the reality show by taking off his shirt and baring a clean-shaven chest, which, unlike Dabangg Khan’s, did not have a single pack. He had also danced with skimpily-clad cheer girls on the host’s insistence.
Shia scholar and General Secretary of All India Shia Personal Law Board, Maulana Zahir Abbas Rizvi, expressed his outrage at Kazmi’s behaviour on the show. “Participating in such an objectionable TV series is forbidden by religion. Kazmi’s behaviour has been a shame for the community, especially because he holds the responsible position of a managing trustee.” The Imamia Masjid at Dongri is one of the oldest mosques of the Shia sect.
The 55-year-old, who was sacked by Special Judge M L Tahaliyani for non-cooperation during the Qasab trial, seems to have made a habit of being kicked out.
|Kazmi in the Bigg Boss house|
Rizvi said, “He has let down the entire community in the past too by defending Qasab, for which he was condemned all over India. But this is worse than what he did in the past as this does not even figure in his professional commitments. Kazmi should quit immediately on moral grounds as what he did on the show was embarrassing. He should then do whatever he likes in his personal capacity.”
Trustee Nazar Abbas was more restrained in his reaction. “Yes, I felt bad about Kazmiji’s participation. But let me first discuss this with him and I am sure all of us trustees can sort this out.” The trustees and former trustees were not willing to criticise the lawyer’s antics on the show openly because he is the managing trustee.
|Kazmi was once Qasab’s lawyer|
Maulana Saabir Raza said he had sent Kazmi a message asking him to resign from his post, “His behaviour has been totally unacceptable and that’s why many of the community’s leaders, including me, have asked him to resign. It does not suit a trustee to indulge in naach-gaana and vulgar talks on TV, as the community’s image gets tarnished. However, we hope to resolve this through discussions.”
Kazmi said that he had not been informed of any such action by any community head, “I was at Imamia Masjid on Sunday. But nobody told me anything.”
When he was voted out of the show, he blamed it on dirty politics and said, “Their strategy is to first get rid of someone like me, who is in for the long haul, because they see me as a threat.”
Hopefully, with all his experience with rejection, he will eventually learn to accept it graciously.
