At best friend Baba Dewan’s birthday bash, the actor turned up in high spirits, entered a barricaded cage full of semi-clad Russian dancers and got jiggy with it
On Thursday night, Baba Dewan’s birthday party was abuzz with the creme de la creme of the industry: Sanjay and Manyata Dutt, Priya Dutt, Sohail Khan, Kangna Ranaut, Shilpa Shetty, Zayed Khan, Bunty Walia, Apoorva Lakhia, Ashish Chaudhary, Mallaika Arora, Arbaaz Khan… you name it.
But all eyes were looking for just one man, who definitely topped the guest list: Salman Khan.
Sallu and Baba Dewan are known to be best friends. The guests knew Salman had an early-morning shoot to attend the next day but they were still hoping to see the actor there. And knowing Sallu, he didn’t let them down.
But Sallu’s entry into the party was a classic one. The media at the red carpet had left an hour before the actor made his grand entry at 2.50 am. Though his outfit a ‘Being Human’ T-shirt and blue jeans seemed not out of the ordinary, his demeanor was anything but.
Sallu staggered in with a smile on his face; he was obviously in high spirits. Surprisingly, what caught his eyes first, were a pair of (pardon the irony!) voluptuous Russian girls wearing next to nothing, dancing inside a cage of sorts.
And wasting no time, Salman cut across all the barriers, pulled the cage door open and threw himself inside. An eyewitness said, “The guests were shocked. They were wondering what he would do next.” And before anyone knew it, Sallu started gyrating to the music. “The Russian girls were amused. But they joined him soon. It was sheer revelry. Party mein char chand lag gaye.”
A source very close to Salman, who was present at the bash, said, “He shook his a** so merrily. It was a sight to behold. You know what? It seemed he would even remove his shirt, like he stylishly does often.
But unfortunately, that he did not do. Nahin toh aur maza aata.”
Salman left the party around 4 am. The source added, “He had to report to the sets of Bigg Boss 4 quite early on Friday. Else, he would have hung around for longer. What a dance that was! I wish we had pictures. But the party was a private one.”
Par yeh public hai Sallu, yeh sab jaanti hai…
BT told you first that the couple were husband and wife and that their marriage on reality TV was a sham
Roshni K Olivera | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; November 12, 2010)
Ali Merchant and Sara Khan were husband and wife… we told you that first. Wednesday morning, after Bombay Times exposed this fact and said that the couple’s marriage on Bigg Boss was nothing but an eyewash for TRPs, all news channels picked up the story and kept highlighting it until night.
The story got murkier. Ali’s parents, who were in the House attending the wedding, denied the couple were married before. However, Sara’s mother, after initially saying that the couple were only engaged, finally admitted to the first marriage that had taken place two years ago. Muslims are up in arms, getting married a second time is against their belief system, and there are others condemning the manner in which this was carried out. “It’s appaling! First Sara gets close to Ashmit in the House and declares that her relationship with Ali is over. Then Ali enters the House after which they patch up and get married! It’s like taking the whole world for a ride,” says Kumud Bhat, a housewife, echoing the sentiments of TV audiences across the country. The question we are asking now: Are reality shows totally scripted? And participants paid big money for ‘living’ out roles? Television viewers are wondering…
Sara Khan and Ali Merchant were wed two years ago. (A picture speaks a thousand words)
Sara Khan and Ali Merchant made a big deal about their marriage in Bigg Boss 4 last night, but we have news for you.
That Bigg Boss 4 is stage-managed has been doing the rounds for a long time now. And if rumours are to be believed, the wedding celebrations on the sets is a complete farce, given that the couple has been married since the last two years.
Mumbai Mirror got hold of a picture of their wedding which took place exactly two years ago in Bhopal, .on November 10, 2008. A source said, “Sara and Ali have got big bucks for staging this marriage.
People can go to any lengths for money, and of course channels do not mind because it pumps up their TRPs and garners publicity.

It is quite shocking how people and channels can stoop down to any level.” The channel’s spokesperson decided to maintain a ‘no comments’ stance. What can we say, it’s their big loss.
Bigg Boss is tweaking some of its rules to make sure that Sara and Ali’s relatives can enter the house for their wedding
|Ali Merchant and Sara Khan in Bigg Boss 4|
Sara Khan and Ali Merchant’s TV wedding is just a day away, and the ” Bigg Boss” house, normally full of strife and sniping, wears a happy look.
“The housemates will have to ensure that the would-be bride and groom stay away from each other till they get married. Sara will have to wear a veil to make sure Ali doesn’t see her face – it is a ritual,” says a source.
To ensure that nothing hampers the excitement, the channel, for the first time, has willingly tweaked the format of the show. “According to the show’s rules, no outsider can enter the house. But Sara and Ali’s wedding is not possible without their family members. So the channel has decided to introduce a few changes. Sara’s mother might not be able to attend the wedding, but her mamaji will be present. Ali’s parents and a maulana have been allowed to enter the house. A mehendiwali too gets to come in,” says the source.
The source adds, ”Among the would-be couple’s close friends, Jai Bhanushali, Parul Chauhan, Jatin Shah and Priya Bhatija are expected to be present, but outside the house. They will get to see the wedding via a projector installed outside the house’s premises, but won’t get to meet the couple.”
Designer Vikram Phadnis has been roped in to guarantee the would-be couple gets the perfect wedding look. “Sara will be wearing lehenga-choli and a veil, while Ali will be seen in a traditional slim-fit sherwani. Both the outfits have earthy tones. Trust me, it will be a grand wedding,” says Vikram. How about the jewellery? “Sara will wear exotic jewellery – either polki or jadau kundan,” says Vikram. He will enter the house tomorrow morning.
The actor will supposedly return to host the next season of Dus Ka Dum on the condition that he is paid Rs 2.5 crore per episode
On October 30, Mumbai Mirror broke the news that Salman Khan will be back in Dus Ka Dum, on his own conditions. Here’s the latest on that.
According to a source, the actor apparently told the channel that he will return to the show only if he is paid Rs 2.5 crore per episode.
That is approximately a 51 per cent hike on what he was paid for the first and second seasons of Dus Ka Dum, the source tells us, “Salman was being paid approximately Rs 1.65 crore per episode then.”
But according to reports in the media, hadn’t Salman charged only Rs 89 crore for the 104 episodes that were telecast in the first season of Dus Ka Dum? Adds the source, “No. That was a conservative figure portrayed in the media.”
According to insiders from the television industry when Salman was signed up for the first season of Dus Ka Dum, he charged Rs 89 crore for 104 episodes. And for the second season of the show, the actor had reportedly asked for a decent increment of Rs 44 crore. However, that did not materialise. Then, Salman slashed his fee for the second season after the channel admitted to a cash crunch as a result of the economic recession.
Well, seemingly, the recession is truly over for Sallu. Wonder if the mammoth success of Dabangg has had a role to play?
It will be interesting to note here that Salman’s new fee in Dus Ka Dum 3 is apparently even more than what he is presently getting for Bigg Boss 4. According to a senior person from the TV industry, “Salman is being paid about Rs 2 crore per episode for Bigg Boss 4. And that’s a package deal, which involves public appearances and a lot of other things. However, if you calculate it per episode, it is about Rs 2 crore per episode.”
Grapevine has it that a lot of efforts were made to get a replacement for Salman in Dus Ka Dum but all in vain. Adds the source, “This steep hike indicates only two things.
Channel ko koi sahi replacement nahi mila and that Salman’s connect with the audience is immense.
The same is happening in Bigg Boss 4. While the inmates of Bigg Boss 4 are not too exciting to watch, the viewership has shot up on Fridays and Saturdays because those are the days when Salman makes an appearance on the show.”
Guess it all adds up to a brilliant score. Advantage: Salman.
TV actor Merchant was recently ruing about how Bigg Boss is scripted. It hasn’t stopped him from getting married to Sara Khan on screen
Ali Merchant and Sara Khan, who have been dating each other for three years, are gearing up to tie the knot on November 10 inside the Bigg Boss house, with their parents and all the housemates cheering for them.
Ali entered the house on Tuesday night and proposed to her last evening (Wednesday). Sara said ‘yes’ instantly.
Our source said, “Ali is determined to marry Sara. He has spoken to Bigg Boss about it. Even the housemates are quite thrilled about the wedding and have started talking about the preparations for Mehndi, Sangeet and the Nikahnaama.
Ali entered the house as he was extremely upset about the burgeoning romance between Ashmit Patel and Sara. However he decided that he has to enter the house to sort out the mess in his life. Now, it seems that everything has been sorted and they will get married inside the house itself.
Ali expressed his desire to get married on November 10, as that’s the date on which they started dating each other three years ago. The channel is now working out a way to accommodate both the families and the housemates for the wedding.”
When contacted, Ashwini Yardi, Programming Head of the channel said, “Yes, it’s true and they have asked for November 10. We have decided to let them get married on the show. All I can say right now is that we will make it an eventful marriage and the functions will start from seventh onwards.”
Is Sallu invited?
After Raja Choudhary’s savage attack at his estranged wife’s residence, Abhinav Kohil boldly confesses his love for the Bigg Boss contestant
It can now be told. Shweta Tiwari and Abhinav Kohli are in a rock steady relationship. As things stand today, the couple plans to get married as soon as Shweta breaks free from Raja Chaudhary legally.
For the first time, Anhinav admits to their relationship. Yesterday afternoon, he told Mumbai Mirror, “Shweta and I love each other. It’s been a year-and-half now. We are going very strong.”
We then spoke to a very close friend of Abhinav, who spilled the beans on Abhinav-Shweta love story.
Abhinav’s friend revealed, “Abhinav and Shweta are madly in love. Shweta’s mother has also accepted Abhinav. In fact, Abhinav has been staying at Shweta’s place ever since she left for Bigg Boss 4.
It was Shweta who asked Abhinav and her rakhi brother Mohan to stay and look after her mother in her absence. In fact, she had even feared that Raja Chaudhary would try to break into their house, which unfortunately happened (on October 17).”
Added Abhinav’s friend, “It all started on the sets of the TV serial which Abhinav and Shweta did together in 2009, Jaane Kya Baat Hui.”
Abhinav was also seen on the sets of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 3, which Shweta Tiwari anchored. Abhinav would come on the sets with homemade food for Shweta but was very careful not to be seen with her to avoid public attention. It was a very filmi situation.
Shweta was just separated from her husband; Abhinav was just finding his bearings in the TV world. Sparks were flying between them, but both tried to ward off their feelings.
In fact, they even took a month-long break from each other, but their feelings just wouldn’t die down. Finally, they felt that any more staying away from each other was tantamount to punishing themselves. As things stand today, Shweta’s daughter Palak also loves Abhinav; pyaar se she calls him AB.
When contacted again, Abhinav simply said. “I don’t want to say anything more on this. It’s too personal.”
Last week, Sallu chose not to invite Kangna to his fashion show. This week, he’s put his film opposite her on hold. Rumour has it that Sonakshi might replace her
Kangna’s dreams of starring with Salman in his home production, what was to be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, have been dashed, at least for the time being. It also points to a larger fallout between the two, said to be close to each other in the recent past.
But not only was Kangna not invited for Sallu’s well-touted ‘Being Human’ show last Saturday, but the superstar has put his home production with her in the female lead on hold indefinitely. The film is a Hindi remake of Manjrekar’s Marathi film Mee Shivajiraje Bhosle Boltoy.
The only consolation for Ranaut is that she remains a part of the film, at least for now. “The script is undergoing some changes. Moreover, a few other members of the cast have also been changed. Salman himself is supervising the details,” says the source.
Another reason why Manjrekar’s film co-starring Ranaut is not Salman’s first priority at present is that Salman is going to be very busy with the TV show Bigg Boss 4 and two films, Kick and Bodyguard. “Both Kick and Bodyguard are very big films and Salman is not going to let his fans down,” said the source.
What makes this doubly awkward for Kangna is the buzz that Sonakshi Sinha might replace her in this film.
When contacted, Manjrekar did not confirm that Ranaut stars in his film for Salman. He simply said, “At the moment, I am not in Mumbai. Dekhte hain kab shuru karenge meri film. Why can’t it be that Kangna stars in the film? It’s not Sonakshi, but then, at the end of the day, it is up to Salman to decide and divulge.”
We know for a fact that Kangna has not even been informed of this delay. But our source was quite clear that Sallu’s next with her in on the backburner. A close friend of Kangna’s said, “She really does not wish to comment on any of this.”
We understand. Need time to nurse your wounds, Kangs?
After allegedly tanking up excessively at the success party of his show ‘Being Human’, Salman Khan failed to make it to an early morning special shoot of Bigg Boss 4
Salman and his entourage of Bollywood actresses might have come out of his ‘Being Human’ show, with flying colours but what followed the next day was shocking to say the least. Buzz is that the Bigg Boss 3 team had requested Salman to shoot a special episode on Sunday (October 10), which they could air on Monday (October 11). The intention was to lock horns with Kaun Banega Crorepati 4 (both the shows are aired at 9 pm). The creatives team of Bigg Boss felt that this way they could grab more eyeballs and thereby affect the TRPs of Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati’s opening episode.
Salman is featured only on Fridays and Saturdays and not Mondays. Normally, he shoots every Friday for both the episodes.
After the Bigg Boss team members explained to Sallu as to how important it was for them to beat the opening episode of Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati 4, he agreed to shoot for it early in the morning on Sunday. But a shock awaited the team in Lonavla, where the shoot was scheduled. Salman never turned up for the shoot.
The Bigg Boss team, which was waiting in the early hours of Sunday, was informed only around noon that Salman would not make it to Lonavla that day. Left with no other alternative, the unit packed up.
You wonder what Sallu’s golden words were. Adds the source, “Salman excused himself by saying that he was indisposed. He was actually celebrating the success of the Being Human show till the wee hours of Sunday morning. Salman was in very high spirits after the Being Human show.”
Ironically, Salman had apparently invited many members of the Bigg Boss team to the Being Human show.”
Another source confirms that it was Sallu’s absence on October 10 that caused the shoot to be cancelled at the last moment. “Salman was in Panvel on Sunday (Panvel isn’t far from Lonavla).”
An insider from Bigg Boss 4 reveals, “Our plan wasn’t exactly to kill Kaun Banega Crorepati’s opening episode (note that he isn’t denying it), but it was also that we wanted to surprise the contestants of Bigg Boss 4.”
When asked what exactly Sallu told the channel people, he adds, “The channel was told that he had an eye infection.”
When contacted, Bigg Boss’s broadcaster’s official spokesperson didn’t comment on the story.
Rakhi Sawant has bigger plans, she wants to become a politician now
Akash Wadhwa (BOMBAY TIMES; October 9, 2010)
There’s simply no stopping Rakhi Sawant, from shooting her mouth off that is. And this time round this unbridled item girl has big plans of joining politics, no less. “Rakhi Sawant Hindustan ki beti hai,” claims this item girl who has dabbled in charity in the past. She adds, “Five years from now and you will see me sitting in Lok Sabha. I have everything that a politician should have.” Was cleaning the Mumbai streets a step in that direction, we wonder.
But the unstoppable doesn’t stop here, as she has an opinion on Baba Ramdev joining politics too. But “Main rajneeti ki kursi sekna nahi chahti hoon, like others” is all she was ready to comment on the Yoga guru having his own political outfit, and the smart ones can read between the lines.
Ask her from where she would like to contest elections and she quickly replies, “Kanpur. Usse mera purana rishta hai. Ek time pe wo mera sasural hua karta tha. So, what better place to start my political career from a place which is so close to my heart.”
And Rakhi seems to have started understanding a bit of politics, she says, “Ab Shiv Sena ko hi dekh lo. The party workers are creating a ruckus over Bigg Boss 4 contestants being from Pakistan. Did anyone ever think why did they did not do anything to another show which has contestants from India and Pakistan competing with each other.?” Read between the lines. Yeh Mumbai hai meri jaan! “If you want to create news, the best thing is to approach Shiv Sena. Thoda hungama, thode putle jalenge and the show is in news everywhere. It is the best publicity stunt!” she says.
But offstage theatrics apart, Rakhi, who appeared as a proper actress in only one film, Dil Bole Haddipa, rues that nobody is ready to cast her as an actress in a movie. “Yash Chopra’s production house offered me a second lead in the movie but unfortunately all my scenes were badly chopped and again I was reduced as an item girl. I have the potential of an actress but no one in Bollywood is ready to see beyond my skin show.” Maybe that’s why she says she’s ready to go deglam! “Mujhe jitna expose karna tha main kar chuki. Ab aur nahi. Exposing has earned me the place where I always wanted to be, but not anymore. It is high time that I show the real potential in me,” she signs off.
