Barbara Mori is back to entertain Indian audiences

The actress will be seen in a travel show hosted by Archana Vijay

Remember Barbara Mori? The Uruguayan- Mexican actress, who featured with Hrithik Roshan in Anurag Basu’s 2010 film Kites, will now be seen in a TV show.

Barbara created a stir during her B-Town debut days for both professional and personal reasons. She later vamoosed from the scenario here.

Looks like the West import is keen to be back in the scheme of things. She features in an adventure programme Life Mein Ek Baar anchored by Archana Vijay that will air on a travel channel. VJmodel Archana was last seen on the small screen as a contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Says a source, “Barbara features in the segment which has been shot in South Africa. Archana has celebrity guests in every region she travels in. For the South Africa segment, Barbara was called to be part of the exploits.”

Adds the source, “Archana knows Barbara well, so it made it easier for both to go together on the adventure trail. Barbara apparently particularly enjoyed quadbiking at the Atlantic sandunes in Cape Town.” The show is slated to air later in the year. Last year, it was anchored by VJ- turned- actor Purab Kohli.

The Mexican siren is charging a whopping fee of 12 crore to be paired with Rajeev Khandelwal for a Hindi film

Barbara Mori’s love-affair with India continues despite her painful debut with Hrithik Roshan in Kites. Now the actress returns to Hindi films in a film titled Fever, co-starring Rajeev Khandelwal. She plays the character of a linguist and it is learnt that Mori is being paid 300,000 dollars for the film (over 12 crore). That’s much more than what our A-list actresses charge. Her film is to be directed by Rajeev Jhaveri, who has previously made the award-winning short film Cold Meat. He also wrote Kuch To Hai (produced by Ekta Kapoor) and Dhoondte Reh Jaoge. Fever is set to be shot in Cornwall (England) through June-July. The film, like Kites, will star another Indian heroine. It’s produced by Ravi Agrawal, who has earlier made films like Radio and Deadline-Sirf 24 Ghante.

The director called to wish the actress on her birthday, and the two buried their one-year long hatchet

Kangna Ranaut got a surprise phone call on her birthday from an old acquaintance, director Anurag Basu, who she had a fall out with more than a year ago.

A source tells us, “Basu did not even wish Ranaut last year.

They had completely stopped talking to each other.” Her 24th birthday however, seems to have been instrumental in burying their one-year long hatchet.

The source explains that the actress was very overwhelmed, when she saw Basu’s number flashing on her phone.

The source adds, “Once the conversation began, they spoke as if they never had any issues with each other.”

Ranaut and Basu remained unavailable for comment.

What led to the fallout

Ranaut and Basu go back a long time. The director was the first one to spot Ranaut and cast her in her first Bollywood film, Gangster (2006).

However, trouble began to unfold between the two, when Basu edited out large portions of her screen time in Life in a Metro (2007).

The actress, who was promised equal screen-time with Barbara Mori in Kites (2010), was yet again cheated.

The final straw was when the director approached the actress yet again to play a mentally challenged girl, in his forthcoming film, Barfee.

The makers of Shanghai are now hunting for a half-Caucasian, half-Indian co-star to star opposite Abhay Deol and Emran Hashmi

Wanted: a Katrina look-alike for Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai. The role was ideal for Katrina that of a half-Indian half-Caucasian expatriate. And Katrina was eager to work with Dibakar Bannerjee.

So what went wrong? Apparently Katrina was keen on doing a rom-com opposite Imran Khan and not a political thriller opposite Emraan Hashmi. The lead female role was vacated.

And the hunt for the ideal face and personality began from scratch. Apparently Dibakar Banerjee has looked at every possible actress, even the likes of Salma Hayek and Barbara Mori, who could possibly fit the bill.

But so far the filmmaker has had no luck. With shooting for Shanghai scheduled just three months away, a mood of panic has crept into the project.

Casting agencies in Europe and North America have been roped in to find the right actress for the film.

Dibakar confirms that a desperate hunt for the right female protagonist is on. “Yes, we need a half-Caucasian half-Indian. And we’ve launched a worldwide hunt.

Katrina was ideal. But she had other career plans. So yes, like it or not, we are looking for the right actress. Without her there’s no shooting.”

And the woman behind this superstar’s success is his petite, attractive wife Sussanne Khan Roshan. Today, you can watch the Roshans as they drop their guard on Koffee With Karan that will air at 9 pm on Star World.

Hrithik agrees he had a whale of a time shooting the show. Says he, “All other television show hosts do the usual best in entertaining, but Karan (or Pappu as I call him) gets all the secrets out! Kangna arrived in all her splendour at Hrithik’s birthday bash on Monday and was seen partying with him through the night

Finally, all is well between Hrithik Roshan and Kangna Ranaut. Not so long ago, during the making of Kites, Kangna’s relationship with the Roshans snapped.

She was very upset with them for allegedly giving her a step motherly treatment in the film. According to her, they had neglected her and instead showered all their attention on the lead actress in the film, Barbara Mori.

Consequently, a newspaper carried a story on Kangna refusing to play second fiddle to Priyanka Chopra in Rakesh Roshan’s next, Krrish 2. The industry was abuzz with rumours after this that Kangna and Hrithik may never see eye to eye again.

But all that seems to be a thing of the past now. Kangna made it to Hrithik’s birthday bash recently. As always, (see picture) she managed to dazzle in a cute, short dress and near-nude make-up. “But she also seemed completely at peace with herself,” said a source.

Barbara Mori never imagined that a movie she made six years ago would be her second release in India. “I don’t even know who is releasing the film there,” she told us from Mexico, and added, “But I’m happy that Indians will get to see it so that you can see another kind of work of mine.” And she’s confident that the cuts made by the censor board due to instances of frontal nudity in the film will not affect the plot. What she’s not sure about, however, is how Indian audiences will relate to the subject of the film, which is infidelity, and seems intrigued when told that the last major Indian film that dealt with the subject — Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna — met with mixed responses.

While Barbara maintains that she’s still in touch with her Kites co-star Hrithik Roshan, she says that she’s unaware of whether the release of her film was pushed by a week so that it wouldn’t clash with Hrithik’s latest release. And even though Kites bombed at the box office, she still counts it among her best work, along with the 2008 film Love, Pain and Vice-Versa. Does she have any more Bollywood films lined up? “I don’t have any offer yet, but I would love to work on another film,” she said. What about offers from Hollywood? “Yes, I have offers, but there is nothing sure yet,” she added.

How cute! Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan are all set to bring in the New Year in Las Vegas, with their two sons. It’ll be the perfect holiday the family had been waiting for.

But guess who is joining the party? None other than the Spanish beauty Barbara Mori. Yes, Barbara and Hrithik have been in touch. And surprisingly, Sussanne too has been part of this. Now, Barbara and her son will apparently join the Roshans on their holiday.

Barbara Mori might not be in the city but the smokin’ hot actress is still generating a buzz in the city. No, it doesn’t have anything to do with her alleged affair with Hrithik Roshan but with her recently released film in India that has opened in the country after a number of years. Kites might not have been able to take flight at the BO, but Barbara believes people will like her in this one. “The woman I play is very weak emotionally. She is a fragile lady who needs love in her life. And when she does not get the desired love from her husband, she goes the other way to fulfill her desires,” she explains.
