Sensuality overshadows my acting-Mallika Sherawat
0Neha Maheshwri Bhagat (BOMBAY TIMES; April 30, 2013)
As she readies to be the object of attention on the desi version of the groom-seeking reality show The Bachelorette, Mallika Sherawat hopes TV will give her what Bollywood couldn’t.
So, will you get married on national television? I don’t know that. Finding true companionship is my priority. A lot of people fail to find it even after marriage. I am not promising marriage, but who knows what will happen. I want to give all Indian men a chance to woo me. I think the tradition of arranged marriage is regressive. Through this show, I hope to convey the message that every woman should have the right to choose.
Do you fear a person may fake love just because you’re Mallika Sherawat? That’s a fear that haunts every actress and that is why most of them lead such lonely lives. The more successful you become, the more your world shrinks and you become lonelier. I miss the simple pleasures of life. It’s not a great feeling to come back to an empty home.
When we talk about sensuality in Bollywood, the first name that pops up in our mind is yours. How does that tag feel? I don’t believe it. Did I earn it? I don’t know. I am just me.
It overshadows your acting? Yes, absolutely. I believe because of the tag, a lot of serious filmmakers don’t approach me. I usually get offers to play ultra-glamorous, larger-thanlife roles. That’s why I accepted Dirty Politics — my character in the movie is real.

A guy in my US school was expelled for carrying weapon-Imran Khan
0Imran Khan reacts to the shocking Connecticut killings
Renuka Vyavahare (BOMBAY TIMES; December 17, 2012)
Imran Khan is a US citizen. He finished his last two years of high school in the state of California. In the wake of the recent shocking Connecticut killings, Imran shares his take on the ‘gun-violence’ issue that continues to plague USA.
Says Imran, “I have studied in the US. I was in the 11th grade, about 17 years old, when a guy in my class was expelled for carrying a ‘weapon’. It was not disclosed what kind of weapon it was. But the schools, colleges there have a zero tolerance policy towards anything that is designed as a weapon. You cannot carry weapons in these institutions. The problem lies with the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution which guarantees an individual a right to keep and bear arms. It is for self-defence but the presence of a weapon only increases the likelihood of a person using it, even for an argument. Weapons are easily available to anyone above the age of 18 in the States!
In the wake of the Connecticut tragedy, someone proposed, had the teachers in the school been armed, this tragedy could have been averted! This scary thought process of ‘carrying guns to counter gun violence’ itself is wrong. The policy makers and lobbyists feel the illegal usage of guns will rise, if it is to be legally brought under control. This is only cultivating fear amongst the civilians. If you look at such past incidents, most of the miscreants More >
President Barrack Obama is my co-star-Rajesh Shringarpure
0Rajesh Shringarpure talks about his H’wood debut
Prachi Kadam (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 1, 2012)
Rajesh Shringarpure, who has acted in many Marathi films and is best known for his negative role in Sarkar Raj has quietly made his Hollywood debut as well.
Mirror stumbled upon the promo of the film titled Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden where Rajesh plays a CIA operative who helps the Seals to nab Osama Bin Laden.
The film premiered on a television channel in the US just two days prior to the presidential elections and is claimed to be one of the major reasons for President Barrack Obama’s victory the second time round by his critics.
Asked how he bagged his very first Hollywood film, Rajesh said, “I had earlier worked with director Harvey Keitel on Gandhi of the Month, and it was he who suggested to John Stockwell, the director of Seal Team Six, that I was apt for the role. I met Stockwell who wanted to see my work. The rest, as they say, is history. This film is my second film however it released before my first.”
Unlike other Indian actors who talk about their Hollywood co-stars, Rajesh made an interesting observation. “Normally in a film, if one has to show the president’s role in the plot, it is portrayed by actors. However, I consider myself lucky to be able to say that President Barrack Obama is my co-star in the film,” he said.
International films apart, the actor has a full plate back home too. “I am working in Shortcut Romeo followed by a crossover film More >

Mumbai boy’s anti-Obama film a hit
0Chidanand Rajghatta | TNN (THE TIMES OF INDIA; August 30, 2012)
Tampa (Florida): A vituperative anti-Obama movie made by a conservative Indian-American commentator has become one of the top ten films in the US this week, inflaming a political campaign that is already toxic in the run-up to the Republican national convention which began in Tampa on Tuesday ahead of a similar convention by Democrats next week in Charlotte.
Mumbai-born Dinesh D’Souza’s ’2016: Obama’s America’, a scathing anti-Obama documentary, climbed up to No. 7 in the movie sweepstakes this week in the US on the back of growing attention during the ongoing Republican convention. Although it had a limited release mid-July, the film expanded to more than 1,100 theatres across the country this weekend and took in an estimated $6.2 million for a total of more than $9 million in domestic ticket sales, according to industry estimates.
The numbers compare well, taking into account it is a documentary, with the two top grossing films over the weekend—The Expendables 2 with $13.42 million and The Bourne Legacy ( $9.33 million).
D’Souza’s docu, a film version of his earlier written efforts such as ‘Obama’s America: Unmaking the American Dream’ and ‘The Roots of Obama’s Rage’, has been embraced by ultraconservatives but panned by Liberals and Democrats as a toxic take-down of a president, full of malicious distortions and falsehoods.

My life is the same as Obama’s-Mallika Sherawat
0Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 7, 2011)
Mallika Sherawat is back in India from the US. Yesterday she was shooting a dance number for her forthcoming film Double Dhamaal at Mehboob studios, Bandra. She was at her chatty and catty best. This is the Mallika we know and love. Uninhibited and caustic. Excerpts from the interview…
You really met US President Barack Obama? Yes. He is a thorough gentleman — simple and intelligent. I even invited him for the premiere of my film Love, Barack which he gracefully accepted. In fact, I feel that my life is the same as Obama’s. I do not come from a filmi family, nor do I have a Godfather. I’m from Haryana, but I changed the rules of the industry with my work and so has Obama. I entered an industry dominated by ones who use their surname as a passport, yet I managed to make a name for myself. I think we both are changing the rules of the game in our own way.
You constantly draw criticism for your acting and your dressing. Comment. This is what I also want to know. I am the only Indian actor to have met the President of the United States, the most powerful man on earth. That is something special, right? And still people try to pull me down instead of celebrating the fact that an Indian has made it big. My obituaries have been written a number of times, but somehow I manage to resurrect myself. God has been kind. Society celebs and the socalled blue bloods of Bollywood are the only ones who More >
Mallika Sherawat meets Barack Obama
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, April 23, 2011 – 13:41 IST
By now its common knowledge that Mallika Sherawat has been hobnobbing with some really big names in the US of A but none could get bigger than this. At a recent high tea event in Hollywood, Madame Sherawat bumped into none other than President Barack Obama.
Mallika spoke about how Los Angeles has become her second home and even about her much talked about film Politics Of Love aka Love, Barack. The film, it may be recalled is a rom-com inspired by the slew of publicly documented election love stories that sprung up during Obama’s Presidential push. Obama was quite impressed and even told the actress to invite him for the premiere of the film.
It was Mallika’s dream to meet the President since his historic first election. Besides, during her work on the new film she has learnt a lot about the man himself and U.S. politics. This was indeed a dream come true moment for the hottie from Haryana.

The big bad recession that hit the world last year had financially crippled the biggest of companies and businessmen. Mallika’s steamy car washing sequence in Love, Barack
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, November 16, 2010 – 16:54 IST
Till yesterday, when someone uttered the name of Mallika Sherawat, all that came to the mind was of course the 17 fully blown kisses in her debut film. Well, today, the equation has changed completely and how! After having made a name in Bollywood with some of the memorable performances, Mallika Sherawat is on what one would call as ‘westward bound’! Even though her last film Hisss failed to show its pangs at the Box-Office, Mallika is back in the news with her yet another Hollywood film Love, Barack. If the adjoining pics of Mallika at the car washing are anything to go by, then, we are sure that there will be millions out there who would want to get their cars washed and serviced as well!(there was no pun intended there)
This film will see Mallika starring opposite Laz Alonso. She plays a volunteer coordinator on Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, who falls in love with her counterpart on John McCain’s campaign, played by Alonso.
Talking about the reason for her to accept the role, Mallika said that the script was excellent and also that she wanted to do an American-style romantic comedy that broke boundaries. And when asked about the real-life support to Obama, she says that she considers him to be a rock-star and although he was given a mess when he entered office, he is doing well. That’s what we call some solid Mallika-speak!
