Vivek Oberoi clarifies Hrithik Roshan’s authority on the sets of their new superhero film ‘Krrish 3′

Jigar Shah (MID-DAY; June 6, 2012)

A while ago, there was strong buzz that Hrithik Roshan had been made the associate director for ‘Krrish 3’, directed by his father Rakesh Roshan. However, his co-star Vivek Oberoi tells us that there is no truth in this claim.

Vivek points out, “He is not the associate director. He is the star of the film. Yes, he is very involved in the film, because it is his film after all. But there is nothing more than that.”

About his experiences of working with Hrithik on the sets, the actor says, “He is a delight to work with. He not only makes sure of quality performance on the screen, but also how Kangna Ranaut or me look and perform. There have been days when I have called him regularly on the sets even on his off-days to ask his opinion on a stunt that I am doing, or if my body language is right. He is happy to make time for us and comes to the shoot all the time to supervise.”

The singer will soon play the lead in Kumar Taurani’s untitled next

Mauli Singh (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 20, 2010)

After Tere Bin Laden star Ali Zafar bagged a second-lead role in Yash Raj’s Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and another one, apparently in David Dhawan’s Chashme Badoor, Pakistani pop sensation Atif Aslam has started his journey to Bollywood stardom.

Aslam has bagged the lead role in producer Kumar Taurani’s next, who is the head honcho of Tips. Atif sang Tera Hone Laga Hun in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, a film that was produced by Tips.

After giving him a good platform for singing Tips now plans to launch Atif as an actor too. Vinnil markan, the associate director of Prince, will direct the untitled film.

A source from Tips reveals, “Atif Aslam will star in the lead role in Kumar Taurani’s untitled next. Atif has been exclusively signed on with Tips as a singer for five years. But he has signed a three-film-deal with them as well.”

Kumar Taurani confirms, “Yes, we have signed Atif for a film. We have already narrated the script to him, which he has liked. The film will happen next year.”

For Anushka, history repeats itself with Band Baaja Baaraat

By Joginder Tuteja, September 27, 2010 – 11:25 IST

Anushka Sharma, who made her debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, would be seen on the big screen yet again in Band Baaja Baaraat. This fun flick coming from the house of ‘Yash Raj Films’ releases all over on 10th December. However, call it sheer coincidence or a part of the plan but the fact remains that history would be repeating itself for the pretty girl. This is because Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi too had come around the same time when it released on 12th December 2008.

Says a trade observer, “This should be one lucky coincidence for the makers and Anushka here. After all Anushka has been enjoying a good innings so far in Bollywood. Her first film was a blockbuster while Badmaash Company, which was again a YRF production and had released earlier this year, was also an average success. She would well be looking at making a hat trick with Band Baaja Baaraat.”

While one looks forward to that happening, here is a hitch. While in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Badmaash Company she had Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor respectively to spearhead the show, in case of Band Baaja Baaraat she has (ironically) turned out to be the senior-most of the lot.

“That’s right”, continues the trade observer, “This time around, it appears to be Anushka all the way. Director Maneesh Sharma is a first timer though he was an Associate Director on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. As for her leading man Ranveer Singh, he is a complete More >

Rishi Kapoor in Siddharth Malhotra’s next

By Subhash K. Jha, September 3, 2010 – 11:42 IST

//

// ]]> Since Siddharth Malhotra’s mentor and role-model Kajol is on maternity leave, the director is looking at casting his best friend Shahid Kapoor in his next film.

Shahid has been Siddharth’s best friend for years. The star watched the debutant director’s film at a special screening on Wednesday.

Says Siddharth, “I was waiting for Shahid to watch it. He has been my best friend for years. He watched it along with Sooraj Barjatya and Raju Hirani. Shahid absolutely loved my film.”

That’s the kind of love and loyalty Siddharth believes in. A self-declared Kajol bhakt he is ready to go to any lengths to be loyal to his muse and guardian angel Kajol.

After keeping a life-long mannat for Kajol agreeing to do his first film, Siddharth has now gone a step further. He has postponed his next film with Kajol in the lead because of the actress’ impending motherhood.

Kajol intends to take at least one full year off before returning to acting. Rather than cast someone else in the role that was written especially for Kajol, Siddharth has now decided to make another film next.

The director’s next would be a father-daughter family-comedy featuring Rishi Kapoor as the father. The daughter is yet to be cast. But the buzz is that Siddharth wants to create cinematic history by casting Rishi’s niece Kareena as his daughter.

Confirming these developments Siddharth Malhotra says, “I did want to make my film with Kajol next. But

‘Agneepath’ script, director finalised

By Taran Adarsh, July 6, 2010 – 08:21 IST

The suspense is over! Karan Johar has finally okayed the script of the new-age AGNEEPATH, the cult film that won Amitabh Bachchan a National Award for his brilliant performance as Vijay Dinanath Chavan. While Karan is yet to take a call on its casting, he has finalized the director of the film — Karan Malhotra — who was the associate director in MY NAME IS KHAN.

Karan Johar confirms the news, “Yes, Dharma has green-lit the remake of AGNEEPATH. But it’s not a scene to scene remake of the original that was produced by my father [Yash Johar]. It’s an adaptation and restructured version of that film, which has been penned by Karan Malhotra along with two more writers.”

There’s talk that Karan has already approached Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor for the principal roles, but he denies it. “We were waiting for the script to get completed. The next step would be to approach the actors. However, we haven’t approached anyone yet,” Karan sets the record straight.

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, February 4, 2010 – 17:39 IST

Maneesh Sharma, Associate Director of the SRK starrer Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which created box office history for both Yash Raj Films and Shah Rukh Khan, has been entrusted with directing the next YRF project.

Produced by Aditya Chopra, the film will star newcomer Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma as the lead pair.

Ranveer, a complete fresher with no modelling or acting experience, was selected after his very first audition, having impressed Aditya Chopra instantly. On the other hand this will be Anushka Sharma’s third film with YRF after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Parmeet Sethi’s directorial debut in which she stars alongside Shahid Kapoor.

The untitled film tells the story of two just out of Delhi University students, Shruti (Anushka Sharma) and Bittoo (Ranveer Singh) who reluctantly set out on their tumultuous entrepreneurial venture. Together their friendship and business enters the ups and downs of the lavish world of the glamour and glitz of Delhi baaraats and weddings!

Shooting of the film commences today and the film is scheduled for release later in the year.

Maneesh, who will be making his directorial debut with this project, has been with the Yash Raj Banner for many years and, apart from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, has also assisted on films such as Fanaa and Aaja Nachle.

Love brewing on the sets of My Friend Pinto?

0

By Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 06, 2010)

// // // Shraddha Kapoor is barely one film old – her debut Teen Patti is still to hit the marquee – but she has already been signed for another film being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film, My Friend Pinto will be directed by Raghav Dar, who earlier assisted Mani Ratnam (Guru) and then was associate director on Abbas Tyrewala’s Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na. The film stars Pratik in the lead, and if the grapevine is to be believed, his onscreen love interest may be more than just a co-star in real life.

Incidentally, Shraddha is Bollywood baddie Shakti Kapoor’s daughter.

“The film requires new faces. After Pratik was finalised for the male lead, the production house was auditioning for the female lead. Several girls were screen-tested and a few were shortlisted, but it was Shraddha who caught director Raghav and Bhansali’s eye. Pratik has already started with a workshop for the film and Shraddha is also getting under the skin of her character,” says a source.

But the buzz is that Pratik and Shraddha have been good friends for some time now and often hang out together. While Raghav could not be reached for comment, Shraddha preferred to be non-committal. “I cannot comment on it, but I would love to work with Bhansali sir.”

The movie also stars Manisha Koirala in a pivotal role.

Hema remaking Mamma Mia?

Hema Malini signs Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor to star in her second production starring daughter Esha Deol By Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 06, 2009)

Hema Malini

Yesterday, we told you that Hema Malini is ready with her second production, starring her daughter Esha Deol and Arjan Bajwa as a romantic couple. News is that Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor will also star in the film, which is tentatively titled Tell Me Oh Khuda.

A source close to Hema said, “Hema has taken a long time to put this project in place. Besides Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor, another prominent actor will soon be added to the film’s cast.”

Since the story revolves around a girl (Esha) who is in search of her father, we asked if it is inspired by the 2008 Meryl Streep starrer Mamma Mia! The source replied. “Although the story is different from Mamma Mia!, people may still think that it is based on the Hollywood musical.”

Does Hema Malini play Esha’s mother in Tell Me Oh Khuda? “Hema might be part of the film. She is not yet sure whether she wants to only produce it or also act in it,” said the source.

Hema’s film will be directed by newcomer Mayur Puri, who was the associate director for Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom. The film’s music will be composed by Pritam.

Hema Malini’s long awaited production for daughter Esha finally sees the light of day

By Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 05, 2009)

The long-in-the-pipeline film, which Hema Malini wanted to produce for her daughter, Esha is finally taking shape.

Tentatively titled Tell Me Oh Khuda, the film will have a girl (Esha) in search of her father. Arjan Bajwa will play the role of her supportive boyfriend.

Hema Malini with Esha

The subject seems uncannily similar to Hema’s first and only directorial venture, Dil Aashna Hai where Divya Bharati played a girl in search of her mother. Shah Rukh Khan had played the supportive boyfriend in the earlier film.

Arjan, who is thrilled to be working in Hema’s film, says, “When we met I was numb. I just stared at her (Hema). When she told me she liked my work in Fashion I was on cloud nine. Of course, I immediately agreed to do the film. It is Esha’s relaunch.”

The film will be directed by Mayur Puri who wrote the dialogue for Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. Puri was also the associate director for Dhoom. That’s when Mayur first met Esha and her mother. Tell Me Oh Khuda is now in the pre-production stage and is expected to go on the floors by the end of this year.
