Parag-Aalim-Paritosh: 3 friends, 1 dream 3 destinies
0Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; July 6, 2012)
Even as adolescents, they dreamed of being actors. Aalim Hakim, Paritosh Painter and Parag Desai — friends for 25 years — pursued their acting dreams throughout their years at Mumbai’s Mithibai College. The three were an integral part of the Mithibai Drama team. From running backstage chores to cleaning the floors of the drama hall to staging several amateur plays, these three did it all for the love of the arc lights. Of course, destiny changed the course of their dreams.
Aalim lost his dad — the famous Hakim who gave Amitabh Bachchan his Zanjeer hairstyle — very early in life. He also gave up his dreams of being an actor to fill in his dad’s very large shoes.
Paritosh Painter continues to direct, write films (Dhamaal, All the Best) and successful plays.
And Parag realised that he was better behind the screen than in front of it… so he floated his own film PR agency.
Aalim, Parag and Paritosh continue to remain best friends going on family holidays together and even acting in movies. While Parag has done a cameo in Golmaal 3 earlier, this time Rohit Shetty got him and Aalim to do a very funny scene as tharkis (decadent guys) in Bol Bachchan with Archana Puran Singh.
Says Parag, “We did it for a lark and we have to thank Rohit because we had a whale of a time.”
Aalim says, “When we were in our 20s both of us had a healthy mop of hair. Today I’m bald and Parag losing hair too. That apart, we were not in the least bit conscious while More >
It’s a new film altogether-Rohit Shetty
0Rohit Shetty fields questions on Bol Bachchan, comparisons with its inspiration and the cast
Upala KBR (BOMBAY TIMES; March 5, 2012)
Rohit Shetty doesn’t believe in wasting time. The director began work on his next action comedy Bol Bachchan shortly after his last hit Singham. With BB almost 95 per cent complete and due for release on July 6, Shetty takes a breather to give us a sneak peek at his film, even as he shoots in Wai in Maharashtra. The Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd and Ajay Devgn Ffilms production, presented by Fox Star Studios, stars Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.
What made you choose Bol Bachchan as your next film after Singham? • Singham was a hardcore action film, so I wanted my next to be a light-hearted comedy and the BB script suited my requirements. The film has a lot of characters. Apart from being a comedy, it’s a family entertainer that offers drama, action and emotions, among other things. We’ve taken the basic concept from Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Gol Maal, but the rest is completely different.
How different is it? • The entire screenplay is new. You could call it a new film altogether. Archana Puran Singh, Paresh Ganatra, Krushna Abhishek and VIP from the TV show Comedy Circus will play some of the new characters. Even Asin and Prachi’s characters don’t feature in the original. Abhishek and his character Abbas Ali’s mannerisms will be one of the film’s highlights. The plot is interesting and the More >
Shekhar Suman to leave Comedy Circus
0By Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 15, 2010)
Shekhar Suman won’t be seen in the next season of the popular TV show Comedy Circus.
The other two judges, Archana Puran Singh and Rohit Shetty, will continue. Shekhar said, “We haven’t negotiated on the next season, so I guess the channel is free to consider other options. Frankly, it is necessary to keep changing people to impart a new flavour to the show.”
Shekhar SumanThe latest is that the channel approached Rajkumar Hirani, Boman Irani, Rajkumar Santoshi and David Dhawan as possible replacements for Shekhar, but all four have turned down the offer.
On his part, Shekhar says, “I’ll be making films now. First Vidroh, then I’ll produce a remake of the 2007 Hollywood film Awake, and finally a biopic on Jai Prakash Narain, which I’m likely to direct. I’ll also play JP.” That’s a serious amount on your plate for a funny guy, Shekhar…
Movie Review: KAL KISSNE DEKHA (Bollywood Hungama.com)
0By Trade Guide, June 12, 2009 – 18:35 IST
If you could see the future, wouldn’t you first use it to your advantage? It seems like many are thinking futuristic nowadays, which is a good thing. But the irony is, be it AA DEKHEN ZARA or 8 x 10 TASVEER, the genre wasn’t well exploited on screen. KAL KISSNE DEKHA too falls short of expectations.
KAL KISSNE DEKHA walks on a tight rope. The writers could’ve explored the concept to the optimum, making their imagination run wild. But what eventually unfolds is just not exciting. It catches your attention at times, but gives away later.
BY BOLLYWOOD HUNGAMA.COMKAL KISSNE DEKHA is meant to be the launch pad of Jackky Bhagnani. Yes, he can act. And as we know by now, he can dance exceptionally well too. But how one wishes the debutante had the backing of a solid script.
Nihal Singh [Jackky Bhagnani] from Chandigarh is a seemingly simple yet unconventional boy. He talks too much, questions everything and builds complicated gadgets in his spare time. He has a brilliant mind and an oddball sort of charm. He adores his mother, has dreams of studying in the most elite institute of science and always looks for big ideas in small things.
//But Nihal has a secret…
When Nihal is accepted into his dream college in Mumbai, he is over the moon, College is a whole new world, full of color, new people and new challenges to be met. Initially, nobody takes him seriously. He is ragged by his seniors, insulted by the girl he likes and so More >
