Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn will burn some serious rubber in their super cars on the F1 track in Delhi. The race unto the finish is slated for Monday, April 23. Sharing the news of this thrilling event with Mumbai Mirror, Anil Kapoor said, “This race is Ajay’s brainchild.”
During a casual conversation over dinner, that the two actors began indulging in a bit of boy-talk. That is, they began exchanging notes on their fitness and agility and their need for speed. That is when Ajay, who is into sports cars, challenged Anil to a car race. Anil was rather surprised but took it sportingly. It was then decided that both the actors would test their skills on the F1 track in Delhi.
Elaborating on the grand adventure, Kapoor said, “We have taken to it rather seriously. And have also decided on the cars we will drive.” Mirror has learnt that while Anil will race in a silver Lamborghini, Ajay will contest in a yellow one. “That’s right. The race will be run on pure merit,” says Anil.

Sandip Sopparkar on ‘fake’ royal invite
0By Subhash K. Jha, May 2, 2011 – 11:33 IST
Hurt, angry and bewildered for being branded a liar choreographer Sandip Sopparkar is seriously considering legal action.
Says Sopparkar, “I will take action with the support of some friends. I first need this media-bashing to sink in. I just wonder where it will end! Once my health improves, I’ll look into the issue. First I need to start walking again. I don’t want the mental stress to further damage my health.”
Now that the royal wedding is over, we need to ask ourselves if we were taken for a royal ride by choreographer Sandeep Sopparkar who according to a section of the media faked an invitation to the century’s most prestigious wedding.
But Sopparkar maintains his stand. Sounding extremely hurt, and not only because of the knee injury that apparently put him out of action at Buckingham Palace, the well-known choreographer who is now being labelled a “serial liar” defended himself, “I am repeatedly asking myself why I’ve been subjected to this treatment. Please check the Daily Mail (London) dated April 24. In the post-wedding celebration-list, me and my wife are clearly mentioned as performers .Don’t tell me people feel I arranged that too! I was practising for over two months. Manish Malhotra was making the clothes. Kangna Ranaut was to unveil the invitation. The venue was booked. The security was arranged. Why would I do all of this for a faked invite?” Manish Malhotra confirms that he did Sandip and wife More >

0GANESH NALLARI, A VICTIM OF CHILD ABUSE, CHANGES HIS NAME TO ABHIMANYU, PROTAGONIST OF FILM BASED ON HIS LIFE
SUBHASH K JHA (Mid-Day; April 23, 2011)
HYDERABAD- based designer Ganesh Nallari will now be called Ganesh Abhimanyu Nallari. Abhimanyu is the name of the character based on Ganesh’s life, that faces child abuse in Onir’s film I Am . Onir’s film on marginal people has a segment devoted to portraying the trauma of an abused child Abhimanyu, whose older version is played by Sanjay Suri.
This character is based fashion designer Ganesh.
Ganesh, who recently saw the film was so moved to see his life come to cinematic fruition that he decided to alter his name officially.
But it’s not just the name that has changed for Ganesh.
His life was radically transformed as after watching the film as he came out clean in front of his parents for the first time about the molestation he had suffered as a child.
Speaking how the film has changed Ganesh’s life, Onir said, “ Ganesh Nallari will now officially be known as Ganesh Abhimanyu Nallari. It was his decision. I was shaking with fear when I showed him the film. My faith in what I’ve attempted depended on his response.” The director added, “ After the film Ganesh finally told his parents what he had suffered.
It feels wonderful to know that somewhere my film has liberated a character who inspired one of the stories in my film. Ganesh’s journey into self- realisation began when he called me to tell that More >
Vidya, Sujoy Ghosh on the sets of Kahaani
0MUMBAI MIRROR; April 23, 2011
Director Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani with Vidya Balan as the lead is being shot in the skinny alleys of Kolkata.
We caught the director in an intense moment as he explained a complex shot to the beautiful Balan, who was sporting a poorly fitted baby bump next to the iconic Ambassador taxi.
Kahaani is said to be the story of a NRI woman who comes to Kolkata looking for her missing husband.
While Ghosh has been tight-lipped about his project, sources say it is a whodunit meets revenge drama. Inspired by Kill Bill, are we?
Akshay’s next with Bhansali titled Rowdy Rathod
0Akshay Kumar’s next produced by Sanjay Bhansali and directed by Prabhu Deva has just got a name
Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 23, 2011)
The project, which director Prabhu Deva, producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar had come together to create, has finally been christened Rowdy Rathod.
When asked about the title, Bhansali humourously said, “It sounds like those action films from the South in the 1970s like Rowdy Ramu.”
Deva, the director of the 2009 blockbuster Wanted, plans to break the stereotypical boundaries of the action genre by incorporating the director’s choreographic skills into the action sequences.
As a result Kumar, who plays the lead, will have to undergo intense physical training for the role. We wonder if this formula will help steer Akshay Kumar’s career back on track.
Bhansali added, “I’m not giving out any details right now. But to me an action film is totally an alien concept. At this juncture as a filmmaker, I want to move out of the comfort zone and do things that are new and untried.
Prabhu Deva, Akshay and I are getting together for something that is entirely new to me.” This ambitious venture will go on floors in August and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
No Raaz 3 for Bips
0The actress angers the Bhatts with her starry antics, gets dropped from their next project
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 23, 2011)
Bipasha Basu’s starry antics have just cost her a role in Vishesh Film’s next venture Raaz 3. Bips, who was already on course for the female lead in the film, has been shown the door by the Bhatts after her tantrums over an item number in Murder 2.
A source from Vishesh Films told Mumbai Mirror, “During a meeting for the item number she was supposed to do in Murder 2, Bipasha had hinted her wish to be a part of Raaz 3. The Bhatts immediately liked the idea, and she was fairly on board.”
However, things went wrong when Bipasha acted too pricey over that single item number. She even neglected the repeated calls and messages from the filmmakers. After continuous attempts to contact her, the Bhatts eventually replaced her with Yana Gupta for the song. (Mumbai Mirror, March 28, 2011)
Hit hard by the article, Bipasha sent her secretary to mend bridges with the Bhatts. “She apologised, but the Bhatts, Mukesh in particular, was in no mood to reciprocate,” revealed our source.
“In fact, Mukesh was quite shocked when Bipasha’s secretary brought up Raaz 3 in the conversation. She was clearly told that Bipasha would not be a part of the film,” added the source.
When contacted, a very angry Mahesh Bhatt quipped, “Well, Bipasha tried to impose her starry airs on my company which has been a springboard to her stardom, More >
Deepika replaces Anushka in Ayaan’s next?
0…And it’s Ranbir Kapoor’s second film with friend Ayaan Mukerji we are talking about this time
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 23, 2011)
Ayaan Mukerji’s second film with Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has come up with a new surprise. Deepika Padukone, who was cast as the female lead in the film, has just been replaced.
Much like her off-screen life, Anushka Sharma will now be romancing Dippy’s ex-flame on screen.
A source explains how the personal undercurrents have complicated the casting of the film, saying, “Deepika and Ayaan have been great friends for a long time now. While discussing the film, Deepika suggested that she wanted to be a part of the film.
Ayaan thought she was apt for the role. However, there have been many ifs and buts since then. Ranbir’s then girlfriend, Katrina, was not very happy with Deepika being a part of the film. Besides, there were speculations about Katrina herself doing the movie.
However, after Ranbir and Katrina’s recent break up and the actor’s link-up to various women including Anushka, she seemed like the next obvious option for the role. And so, now, Anushka has been finalised for the film.”
When contacted Karan Johar said, “Ayaan is still writing the film. He will lock his script in a month and then we will finalise everything. Right now the only person signed for the film is myself as the producer.”
Ayaan and Anushka remained unavailable for comment.
Salman stretches out for Zarine Khan
0Salman Khan talks director Anees Bazmee into adding more flesh to the Veer girl’s appearance in Character Dheela item number
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 23, 2011)
After Boom, which Katrina would love to ‘beep’ out from her resume, it was Salman Khan who stood by her side and held her hand while she climbed the ladder to stardom. Looks like, the Kat-look-alike Zarine is Mr Do-Gooder Khan’s latest fancy.
Despite her debacle debut in Veer, Zarine is breathing free. Thanks to Salman, the actress not only has a role in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 2, but also has a full-length item song in Ready, for which she was initially signed on for a blink-and-I’m-gone appearance.
Salman Khan is going all out to promote ZarineThe much talked about Character Dheela song initially meant for Jacqueline Fernandes with a small step-in by Zarine was turned into the latter’s number by the leading man himself. Salman gave out strict orders to the unit saying that it should only be Zarine rubbing shoulders with him.
Attributing Jacqueline’s sudden disappearance from the song to ‘date issues’, a source from the film revealed, “Salman ne kaha ki Zarine ko lena hai. And who can argue with Salman? So, Zarine it was.”
The source also went on to add, “It is known that Salman has a soft corner for Zarine. Add this to his helpful nature and you get the complete picture. In other words, Salman ne kisike sar pe haath rakh diya, toh woh uske liye kuch bhi More >
All praises for Queens! Destiny of Dance
0BOMBAY TIMES (April 23, 2011)
Queens! Destiny of Dance is a film based on the transgender community of India. The objective of the makers is to give viewers an insight into the lives of the transgenders so that people develop a better understanding and attitude towards them. Presented by Madanlal Paliwal, CMD of Miraj Entertainment Ltd., the film is slated to release on the 29th of April. The story idea was shared with actors Rishi Kapoor who found it “very refreshing. It is so bold and based on a minority like the hijras. Such stereotypes are best broken, especially in a democratic country and cinema is one of the best platforms to convey a message and educate the masses.” Hema Malini, who saw the theatrical promo and heard the song recently adds, “I was completely captivated by the amazing story told through superb screenplay. I think more such movies should be made, because it’s a very unusual sight to see an actor or an actress playing such a lead part. There are so many others out there, minorities like the Hijrahs. who have their own unique stories and characteristics.”
