SRK rescues Priyanka?
0Khan accosted a man who tried to act fresh with the dusky actress
BOMBAY TIMES (April 7, 2011) It was the rowdiest night in 28 years. When India lifted the World Cup on April 2 the country went berserk. Some were happy, some high and several others got unruly. And all hell broke loose outside producer Ritesh Sidhwani’s building Quantum Park in the suburbs soon after the match. A recap of that night On April 2 Ritesh and Shah Rukh Khan decided not to go to the stadium to watch the India-Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup final. Instead they watched it at Ritesh’s home with family and friends. So who turns up? Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and gang. When the match is over PC made a move to leave. And the most chivalrous man on the scene, SRK volunteered to drop her to her car. Below the building there is pandemonium already. And the commotion increases when the crowds spot the Bollywood Badshah making way for Priyanka. Our source says, “In the midst of all this chaos, a bystander sneaked up to Priyanka and tried to grab the actress. SRK saw red. He grabbed that man’s collar and reigned blows on him. Of course, the other crowd joined in and in between all this tamasha, the man beat a hasty exit.” Shah Rukh, apparently, then saw a slightly off-colour Priyanka to the safety of her vehicle. Ritesh who was also with SRK says such an incident didn’t happen. However, our source maintains that there was an altercation between SRK and More >
Kangna talks about her toughest scene
0Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 02, 2011)
I’ve done some difficult scenes in my life. You might think that I would pick scenes of chillana and rona dhona but actually my toughest scene was at a night shoot, when I had to express my love to Madhavan in Tanu Weds Manu.
The scene was shot in Lucknow. Although it was done in three to four takes, it still took four hours to complete. It was not easy for me to transform, from the confident girl I played throughout the film, to someone who becomes so vulnerable at that moment.
I had to make sure I didn’t go over the top but also I had to be very convincing. It was a very crucial scene, which was sort of a turning point in the film.
In fact, I remember telling my director Aanand L Rai that I didn’t fully agree with a particular portion of that scene, where he wanted me to tell Madhavan ‘Gaal pe haath rakho toh hi manungi’.
Kangna reveals that professing her love for Madhavan in Tanu Weds Manu has been her toughest scene till dateMr Rai sat me down and explained that it would leave a lasting impression as it would be the purest way to express my love. And today I am really proud of that scene.
A tough scene need not necessarily be one where an actor has to do a lot of research.
Many times the scenes, which read very easy on paper, are the ones that are most difficult to execute.
Preity Zinta synonymous with Botox-Tusshar Kapoor
1Karan Johar’s famous chat show, Koffee with Karan, has always managed to come up with surprises. This time, however, it astonished us as much as the actor in question.
The finale episode had siblings Tusshar and Ekta Kapoor, who managed to end the season with us rolling on the floor. When questioned by KJo, who is the actress synonymous with botox, the Shor In The City actor said Preity Zinta.
Our source tells us, “During Karan’s rapid fire round Tusshar and Ekta decided to fight it out by being as blunt as possible.
Tusshar did not dodge any question and answered more fearlessly than the otherwise fierce Ekta to win the coveted hamper.
Preity Zinta, Tusshar KapoorWhen Karan asked Tusshar to name an actress synonymous with botox, he promptly named Preity Zinta. Both Ekta and Karan were surprised at Tusshar’s response.”
When contacted, Tusshar Kapoor said, “Oh god. Is this going to become a controversy? Everyone knows that Karan’s rapid fire round is just for laughs. You don’t mean it, nor do you have time to think about your answers, when Karan puts you on the spot. I’ve loved Preity since the time I saw her in Soldier.
Recently I saw her pictures in a magazine where she had lost oodles of weight and was looking stunning. When Karan asked the question, Preity’s name just came up spur of the moment. There’s nothing more to it.”
SRK to introduce Roshan Abbas’ film
0SRK will stand by Morani’s daughter and do a promo for her debut film
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 02, 2011)
It came as no surprise when we heard that Karim Morani’s daughter Zoa was being launched by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. After all, we knew about Khan’s friendship with daddy Morani.
And speculations about SRK doing a cameo in the film Always Kabhi Kabhi also started doing the rounds. Anything for a good friend’s daughter, right?
Zoa MoraniHowever, it has now been confirmed that King Khan will not be a part of the film. Although, he will do a promotional video for it. Confirming the news, director Roshan Abbas told Mumbai Mirror, “On my first meeting I had told SRK that we needed his guidance to make this film.
When the trailer was being worked on, SRK was away shooting for Don 2. We all wanted him to be a part of it.”
So now, King Khan will talk about his school days in the soon-to-release promo of the Zoa starrer.
Shah Rukh KhanWhen King Khan agreed to be a part of the promo, Abbas’ joy knew no bounds. All charged up, he said, “The excitement grew. Imagine the impact of SRK introducing the film!”
With the backdrop of high school students, their issues and their relationships, the film is expected to hit the screens on June 17. Besides Zoa, the film also stars Love Aaj Kal kudi Giselli Monteiro, Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey.
Katrina chooses SRK over Hrithik?
0She refused Krissh 3 offer to accommodate Yash Chopra’s venture with Khan that goes on the floors around the same time
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 02, 2011)
Katrina Kaif would have made a very sexy mutant. Even the Roshans thought so. However, the actress had to turn down Rakesh Roshan’s Krissh 3 offer to accommodate Yash Chopra’s next venture (untitled, still) in which she stars opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
Both Chopra and Roshan wished to go on floors with their respective films by October 2011.
A source says, “Katrina very much wanted to do Krrish 3. She loved the fact that she would be playing a negative role for the first time in her career.
The mutant’s role has several shades which Katrina wanted to toy with.”
Unluckily for the actress, her dates were already locked for Yash Chopra’s film by the time she was approached for the Hrithik Roshan starrer.
The Roshans then approached Chitrangda Singh for the mutant’s role.
And she accepted the offer. (Mumbai Mirror, March 29, 2011)
However, when contacted Roshan said, “I haven’t finalised the casting of Krrish 3. I am still working on the script.”
Hrithik douses KJo’s exciting finale plans
0While the entire nation is cooking up excuses to take the day off to watch the World Cup final, Hrithik is doing just the opposite
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 02, 2011)
The actor, who has been shooting for the remake of the 1990 blockbuster Agneepath, refused to take a day off to watch India and Sri Lanka fight it out on the field.
Yesterday afternoon, when Karan Johar, the producer of the film, asked Hrithik Roshan, “Should we call off the shoot tomorrow and watch the India vs Sri Lanka World Cup final at home?” Hrithik said, “Nothing doing. We are going to shoot. Why should we cancel the shoot?”
Surprising, eh? However, this rather unexpected reply, it seems has saved Johar 15 lakh.
A source close to the film revealed, “Yes, Rs 15 lakh would have gone down the drain. When the shoot was planned for a Versova outdoor schedule, India was still in the preliminary rounds and Karan didn’t expect that they’d make it to the final.
But Karan was still pretty excited to be sitting at home and watching the big final.”
Hrithik, it seems cares more for KJo’s cash than KJo himself. Or maybe, he is one who finds Agneepath way more exciting than what’s going to happen in Wankhede.
Multiplexes play FALTU GAME with films
0Multiplexes screening the World Cup final instead of Game and F.A.L.T.U, anger producers Vashu Bhagnani and Ritesh Sidhwani
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 02, 2011)
Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Vashu Bhagnani have one thing in common none of them had thought that India would reach the World Cup final. This lack of foresight, it seems, will cost them dearly with certain multiplexes deciding to screen the World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka and shun their newly released films, Game and F.A.L.T.U.
Some multiplexes like PVR, Cinemax and INOX, for example, are cutting down on some shows of these two films between 1.30-10.30 pm today, when the big match will be on at the Wankhede Stadium.
A source told Mumbai Mirror, “It is entirely the exhibitors’ call. The producers have little choice in this matter. They can do nothing but bear it.”
Another source said, “There is an overwhelming demand of tickets for the World Cup at the multiplexes. Tickets are being sold in black at the stadium, don’t be surprised if black marketers have a field day outside the multiplexes too.”
CEO of Cinemax, Sunil Punjabi, confirmed, “That’s right. But we have kept two screens, one each, for these two films as well. We have to see it from the consumers’ perspective.”
Harshvardhan of INOX Group too confirmed that some shows would have to be chopped. “But we are making adjustments wherever possible to accommodate the films,” he added. “But obviously, we are More >
Peta to Poonam: Strip for animals, not for cricketers
0Vijay Singh | TNN (THE TIMES OF INDIA; April 2, 2011)
Mumbai: Animal rights activists have asked model Poonam Pandey to strip for the sake of animals instead of vowing to bare it all if India wins the World Cup.
Chief functionary of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) India, Poorva Joshipura, has requested the 20-year-old model to star in their ad campaign that will take up the cause of animals that are tortured and exploited.
“While we enjoy matches, animals suffer when they are skinned to make cricket balls,’’ Joshipura wrote to Poonam, urging her to join Peta in their efforts to force the Indian Cricket Council to switch to synthetic cricket balls. The animal rights NGO had earlier written to the ICC president Sharad Pawar on the same issue. Incidentally, several international celebrities, including Pamela Anderson, have posed in the buff for various Peta campaigns.
‘Streaker’ Pandey now courts trouble Model Poonam Pandey has been dragged to court by a lawyer accusing her of depicting the Brahmin community in poor light. In his plea filed in a Bhopal court, R K Pandey also accused liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who included a scantily-clad Poonam in his calendar,of encouraging Poonam to shed her clothes. “Poonam has insulted Indian culture,” R K Pandey said. The case will come up for hearing on April 5. AGENCIES
Int’l DJs who remixed Sheila song to be sued
0International DJ has released his version of the popular song; producer Farah Khan and the record company plan to sue
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; April 2, 2011) Farah Khan and the record label TSeries have learnt that at least 50 Indian and 10 international DJs have illegally remixed the Sheila Ki Jawani song and released it on the net as their own composition. A special case among them all is international DJ NYK, who has even made a video of the remixed version and uploaded it on his official website. This comes after international artiste Timbaland ripped off Aradhana’s hit track Baagon Mein Bahaar Hai for one of his singers in the US. Now Farah and Bhushan Kumar plan to take legal action as they have lost Rs 60-70 lakh, which they would have charged for remix rights.
The record label’s spokesperson says, “We have lost lakhs here. Almost all DJs in India remix songs, but they mostly play them at night clubs and don’t release it. However in this case, they are also claiming that it is an exclusive remix of the original. We need a watchdog to look out for such copycats. How can one filmmaker or record label keep tab on so many things?”
Farah adds, “We haven’t given any rights and these DJs have been ripping off my song. It is a serious crime. Though at one level I’m flattered that so many people have made these remixes, I have to take action. We need to threaten people with dire consequences or else they won’t stop ripping off More >
Thank You India, says Akshay Kumar
0Akshay Kumar thanks the cricket team for bringing India into the World Cup Final; predicts a win
Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; April 2, 2011) Akshay Kumar is in the middle of promoting his April 8 release Thank You. But he is not obsessing about it as much about India’s role in the World Cup final today.
Says the cricket enthusiast, “Like every Indian, cricket is a religion for me. From the time I was a young boy, I have never missed a single opportunity to play the game — from gully cricket to playing on my porch. Even during shooting, if I have a half hour break, I pick up the bat and start a game in the studio compound with the cast and crew. You will find a cricket kit in the boot of my car always.’’
Khiladi’s predictions for the World Cup final are no different from that of any other Indian. “My heart says India will win the cup and recreate the 1983 magic,’’ he grins. Adding, I can even make you an exact prediction that India will bat first; they will make around 260 runs. Now these 260 runs may not seem such a formidable score, but our boys will take the cup.’’
Akki says that he has been making a close study of the game and everything around it. “The astrological conditions in 1983 are similar to those in 2011. That calendar year and this one are similar. The stars are in our favour and that’s why I feel MS Dhoni and our boys will shine.’’
His face lights up when he talks of MSD and his gang, “The youngsters in our team, be it More >
