Shibani harassed by drunk male model in party

At an after party of Rocky S, Bollywood singer Shibani Kashyap was harassed to sing by an intoxicated male model

Saumit Singh (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 16, 2011)

I have had encounters with fans before but this kind of over familiarity at a high profile party was something I hadn’t expected,” says Bollywood singer Shibani Kashyap, who was harassed by an intoxicated male model on Monday night at Rocky S’s party after his showing at the Lakme Fashion Week.

Kashyap, who was waiting to congratulate Rocky S, was approached by Kuldeep Samant, a male model from Delhi who demanded Kashyap to sing a song.

A guest at the party said that Samant, who claimed to have walked for Manish Malhotra’s show on Saturday, was bragging that he had been drinking since afternoon and was down a whole bottle.

An eyewitness tells us, “Initially we thought he was a friend of Shibani because she was speaking politely to him. Only when he began demanding her to sing Tinka tinka for him did we realize that something was going on.

She told him that this wasn’t even her song and in any case it was neither the time nor the place for her to just start singing. However, he refused to budge and kept insisting she sing the song for him. Shibani, who appeared quite irritated by then, walked out of the lounge even as Kuldeep shouted from behind her that he was waiting and she better come back.”

Even though radio anchor Siddharth Kannan accompanied Kashyap back into the lounge, Samant More >

I owe Pakhi an apology-Abbas Tyrewala

By Subhash K. Jha, January 12, 2011 – 11:03 IST

2010 was a year of much learning and sobering for writer-turned-director Abbas Tyrewala. After the debacle of Jhootha Hi Sahi, he has decided to never, yes NEVER, make a romantic film again.

Says the disenchanted director, “Everyone has romance within himself. So do I. But everyone has a sense of humour too. It doesn’t mean you should make a comedy. After Jhootha Hi Sahi, I never want to return to the rom-com. It’s just not my scene.”

Abbas’ next will be a dark noire thriller occupying a more cerebral head-space and using actors from a different generation. “I’m writing a dark espionage thriller which would take me as far away from the romantic genre as creatively possible. The rom-com limits your choice of actors. I want to do a film with Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Shah, Paresh Rawal…those wonderful actors bring in their own wisdom, maturity and wit with them. I don’t want to be doing films that restrict me to the youth market.”

Abbas feels that the budget did Jhootha Hi Sahi in. “We can go on doing a post-mortem. But the fact is, when we started the film, a budget of Rs. 30 crores didn’t seem exorbitant for a film whose director had Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na behind him, producer (Madhu Mantena) had Ghajini and the leading man was fresh from two hits Dostana and New York. Then suddenly 2010 became the year of the bloodbath. Suddenly films with a budget of Rs 80-100-120 crores began to bomb. We were suddenly seen as More >

Katrina forgets mentioning TMK on receiving award for the film

By Subhash K. Jha, January 10, 2011 – 11:24 IST

Maybe it was the excitement of winning her first award. But in her thank-you speech on Thursday night after winning an award for Best Actor Popular Choice (whatever that means!) for her performances in Raajneeti and Tees Maar Khan at a recent award function, Katrina completely forgot to make any mention of Farah Khan.

Says a source close to Katrina, “Forget Farah. Katrina didn’t make any mention of Tees Maar Khan (TMK) at all! Though the award was for her two performances in Raajneeti and TMK she only went on and on about Prakash Jha and Raajneeti. Farah who was sitting in the audience and had won an award for ‘Munni Badnaam‘ just looked on without any expression.”

According to a close friend of Katrina it was a genuine oversight. “In all the hustle bustle of the announcement Katrina only heard Raajneeti. She genuinely didn’t know she had received the award for TMK also. When she got off the stage and realized her faux pas Katrina didn’t know where to look. She immediately SMS-ed Farah to apologize.”

A more plausible explanation is provided by another friend of the actress, “She had so prepared herself mentally to treat Raajneeti has her possible passport to recognition, it never struck her that she could get awarded for another performance. TMK just didn’t register.”

While Katrina was going blue in the face offering explanations, Farah Khan seemed perfectly nonchalant about Katrina’s slip-up.

When Bobby got drunk for a scene

0

BOMBAY TIMES (January 4, 2010)

Director Samir Karnik wanted to shoot an integral scene of Yamla Pagla Deewana in the magic hour in the evening. That meant shooting a 4-minute scene in 20mins. The scene required Bobby Deol to drink alcohol while peforming with his father and brother. In order to make it look realistic, Samir instructed Bobby to consume a bottle of beer before arriving on the sets. While enacting the scene Bobby consumed another bottle and knocked off the scene in one take and left immediately as he couldn’t face his father and brother in a drunk state. The whole scene was shot on a two camera setup so as not to lose out on the rawness of the shot. The next morning Bobby apologized to his father and brother for his ‘drunk act’. The movie which is produced by Nitin Manmohan’s One Up Entertainment and Samir’s Top Angle Productions will hit the screens on January 14, 2011.

Akshay slams David Dhawan for dissing Tees Maar Khan?

At Anil Kapoor’s party David Dhawan bitched out TMK. Akki called him up and gave him a piece of his mind. Incidentally David’s son is acting with him

Sonal Chawla and Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 31, 2010)

Anil Kapoor will not forget his birthday party for many years to come.

While there was a hiccup with Salman Khan and a fan getting slapped below his residence, inside there was an occasion to celebrate with Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan bonding warmly after ages.

However the after-affects of the party are still being felt. Apparently David Dhawan made some uncharitable comments about Akshay Kumar’s recently released film Tees Maar Khan and Akshay got wind of the news. But a livid phone call by Akshay did make David apologise.

Our source tells us, “David Dhawan entered the party with his two thumbs down saying ‘Tees Maar Khan pit gayee’. He announced that the reports of the film were not encouraging and that it was a bad film.

The film, which was to be released the next day, was said to be one of the hottest films of this year and the news that the film is not up to the mark has already spread since there were many trials of the film.

However one of the guests at the party told him that he should not say these things considering that Akshay Kumar is also the lead actor of his son Rohit’s film, Desi Boys.

Akshay Kumar got wind of all these facts and he called David to give him a piece of his mind. David agreed that he had said all this More >

Break-ups, Twitter wars, the full monty. 2010 was pretty juicy

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 31, 2010) Hum Aapke Hain Kaun?

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor broke off. Ranbir and Katrina Kapoor became an item. Deepika and Siddartha Mallya start dating. Salman and Katrina called it quits.

Uff! Too much confusion as far as relationships are concerned this year!

Getting Catty over Coffee

Deepika and Sonam Kapoor spewed venom when called on Koffee With Karan. Their comments made Mr. Rishi Kapoor livid and he held Karan Johar responsible for instigating the girls.

After this he walked out of his film and did not allow Ranbir to work in Ayan Mukherji’s film with Karan either.

Now all are happy it seems, and everyone is working with everyone.

On top of the flops

Salman Khan made nasty comments on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mega-turkey Guzaarish.

An otherwise quiet Hrithik responded to this asking Sallu to show some grace, despite Dabangg.

Both of them later patched up at Sohail Khan’s birthday party.

Under-standing Yana

Yana Gupta was completely out of action and left with no work when she came for an event and apparently forgot her underwear.

The shutterbugs had a field day.

The result Yana Gupta now has a reality show.

The Twitterati

Shobhaa De commented on Dabangg. Arbaaz Khan did not take kindly to her comments.

Shobhaa De again tweeted something about I Hate Luv Storys.

This time director Punit Malhotra and Sonam Kapoor More >

Says Saif Ali Khan, of his relationship with Kareena, while leaving her to decide when she wants to take the final plunge

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 22, 2010)

We managed to pin down the otherwise media-shy Saif Ali Khan for an interview. Running a little late for it, the actor showed up at his Bandra office and apologised first. Talking about his next scripted by Imtiaz Ali and directed by Homi Adajania, Saif admits that he has wanted to do a romantic comedy for long now.

We ask him if he is referring to the same film his partner Dinesh Vijan was making with Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone. Saif doesn’t deny this and adds, “At one point Dinesh and I decided that we would do different things but I felt that it is not a good idea anymore.

Of course there were differences like every relationship has; it goes through a period of discussions, trust, questioning, fights and then it settles down.

But everything was sorted out. Now I think it’s better to put our energies in the same production house. I do the creative part and Dinesh structures things well for us.”

So, no releases under the Saif Ali Khan Productions banner? Saif replies, “Why should I? Illuminati (the production house Dinesh and he co-own) is my production house as well. We have decided to be partners together for the future and give everything to this production house.”

It seems Saif’s professional life is in order. At this point you can’t but ask him to More >

Sonakshi shocked with her morphed bikini pic

Doctored Sonakshi pic on fake mag cover has left her conservative parents livid

Kunal M Shah and Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 17, 2010)

You know you have arrived when your morphed pictures become hot searches on the web and news channels debate endlessly over your so-called dare bare act. But Sonakshi Sinha, who has nurtured the image of a traditional Indian beauty for herself, is far from amused.

Doctored photographs of Sonakshi in a bikini have been floating on the internet, superimposed on the cover of a men’s magazine. The original cover has Sonakshi in one of her most sensuous photo shoots yet, but nothing like the striped bikini which caught the fancy of several media channels, including a magazine, which published an article speculating on why the demure and conservative daughter of the BJP leader chose to shed her clothes for the raunchy shoot.

An upset Sonakshi, who has been vocal about not acting in any steamy scenes in Race 2 (Mumbai Mirror, December 7), tweeted her disapproval of the article, forcing the magazine to publish an apology, but it was too late.

The fake magazine cover had already become one of the most sought-after links on the web and TV channels were having a field day flashing it.

Sonakshi’s mother Punam Sinha blames her daughter’s detractors for the fiasco, “We’re shocked by the levels to which our detractors are willing to fall. The face is Sonakshi’s from Dabangg. But the body certainly doesn’t More >

Anil gets catty, SRK calls for a truce on KJo’s show

While Jhakaas Kapoor thinks Shilpa’s botox is the worst, SRK extends an olive branch to his frenemies

Kunal M Shah and Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 11, 2010)

Given the last few controversies on the show, KJo appears to have an unmatchable ability to extract information out of people.

And it only gets quicker, better and more volatile in the rapid fire round, when the most decorous celebrities end up blurting out the most problematic things.

One such instance was KJo’s chat with Anil Kapoor over the worst case of Botox the actor knows of. Kapoor’s prompt answer was Shilpa Shetty. The actor went on to describe how Shilpa did something to her nose and lips, while shooting for Badhai Ho Badhai and that this resulted in continuity problems, which in turn apparently ruined the entire shooting schedule.

Our source said, “This happened on the episode where Anil had come with Sanjay Dutt and Kangna. Anil immediately blurted out Shilpa’s name, which surprised everyone present. That Shilpa went under the knife may have been known in the film industry but not to the rest of the world. This will definitely raise a few eyebrows.”

We’re more worried about Raj Kundra though. All attempts to reach Karan, Anil and the producers of Koffee With Karan proved futile.

Talking of shocking revelations, here’s one that most would have never imagined. Years after spoiling his equation with a lot of his friends, including Farah Khan and Salman Khan, More >

I want to apologise to Shweta- Manoj Tiwari

Tiwari also wishes for Shweta or Khali to win the reality show.

“I hadn’t a clue that my wife was unwell. She just underwent a slip disc operation and I am by her side right now,” he said when we got chatting with him.

Apparently, Rahul Bhatt and Aanchal Kumar have already met up with Manoj. “We spent some time together. I would have also liked to meet Hrishant, but I’m not so sure how he feels about me. He’s a nice guy, but he’s also Ashmit’s very good friend. I don’t think much about Ashmit, though,” said Tiwari.

Of all the things that happened in the Bigg Boss house, it’s Seema Parihar’s nomination against him, that left Manoj wide-eyed. “I was shocked. She’s a good lady and has given me a lot of love and respect. I was least expecting a nomination from her,” he confessed. So would he confront Seema as and when she is out of the house. “I really have nothing to tell her or ask her. What hurts is not the fact that she nominated me, but the fact that she didn’t tell me that she was the one who did it, in spite of seeing me all worked up and witnessing Shweta and my relationship deteriorate. So I won’t go up to her, but if our paths cross, I’ll surely tell her, ‘Namastey’.”

Any last words for Shweta? “I feel bad about the way I behaved. I’d like to apologise to Shweta. Also, it’ll be a good thing if either she or More >
