It happens by rote, design or default that suddenly one actor finds herself standing head and shoulders above the rest of her contemporaries. Anushka Sharma is in that enviable position right here, right now. This Aditya Chopra protégée has suddenly landed roles with the biggest and the best makers in Bollywood.

She has been quietly notching enviable projects. She has Yash Chopra’s movie with Shah Rukh Khan. Katrina Kaif is the main lead in this love triangle. But so what? Anushka is also SRK’s heroine in it.

The actress is paired opposite Imran Khan in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru ki Bijlee Ka Mandola.

Rajkumar Hirani, currently Bollywood’s biggest dream merchant has signed her opposite Aamir Khan for his movie PK. We hear that Aamir was keen on Anushka over Kareena.

Also, Ranbir Kapoor is likely to team up with Anushka in Danny Boyle and Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet.

A trade analyst says, “The odds are stacked in Anushka’s favour. 2013 will see the big girls battling it out. Kat has Dhoom 3, Priyanka has Krrish 3, while Deepika will have Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express, but bookies have their bets on Anushka because from Diwali 2012 to mid-2014, she has some crackerjack projects releasing.’’
