Mukesh Ambani watches Kai Po Che at private screening at Antilla
0Mehul S Thakkar (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 18, 2013)
Even before the premiere, a private screening of Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che was organised for Mukesh Ambani at Antilla this weekend. The film, shot extensively in Gujarat, highlights the entrepreneurial flair of the Gujarati clan. And this seems to be the reason behind the tycoon’s keen interest in the film.
A source told Mumbai Mirror: “Being a Gujarati, the very title of the film ‘Kai Po Che’ got him hooked. He had heard a lot about the film and after seeing the promos, he expressed his desire to watch the film at the earliest.” And it was hardly an issue arranging a special screening for the richest man of India. Besides, he has a great rapport with the producer of the film, Ronnie Screwvala.
A source said: “Ambani has a 20-seater mini theatre, equipped with all the latest technologies, at Antilla. The film was digitally uploaded to the system through a new technology that allows only one-time viewing.”
Ambani watched the film with his wife Nita and according to sources, some of the visuals made him nostalgic about his family in Gujarat. The premiere of the film will be held at a suburban theatre today and the guest list includes Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, among others. Along with the Mumbai premiere, the film will also be screened in a single-screen theatre in faraway Jaipur. The screening is specially organised for Aamir Khan, who is shooting PK in the pink city.
Bollywood stars to meet UN Secretary General
0Bollywood’s top ten have been invited by the Ambanis to meet UN Sec Gen Ban Ki-moon
Amrapali Sharma (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 26, 2012)
The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is on a four-day trip to India. After discussing geopolitical situation and other development issues with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi, Ban Kimoon will head to Mumbai. As per his itinerary, he will meet some key business leaders committed to the development of health conditions for women and children – a topic rather close to Nita Ambani’s heart. And thus, it will only be natural for Mrs Ambani to host a special evening for Ban Ki-moon at Antilla.
Interestingly, the evening that will see Ban Ki-moon discussing issues regarding the empowerment of the girl child, will also have a few faces from the Hindi cinema industry. The list happens to be extremely exclusive. After all, it’s not every day that you get to dine with the UN Secretary General. Among the key invitees from Bollywood are Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao.
Shabana Azmi, who had been actively supporting the issue of child survival, will be there with husband Javed Akhtar. Yash Chopra, Vidya Balan, Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Ronnie Screwvala and Zarina Mehta are reportedly on the Ambanis’ guestlist as well. When contacted, Shabana Azmi said, “In the little time that Ban Ki-moon has, I hope to be able to tell him about my NGO and the work we have done for the girl child.” —With Inputs Kunal M Shah
