Celebs react to Shiney Ahuja case verdict
0Subhash K Jha (BOMBAY TIMES; April 1, 2011)
Shiney Ahuja has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment, thereby drawing to a close a two-year long court battle after he was accused of raping his domestic help.
Celina Jaitly was in a state of shock after hearing the verdict. She said, “It’s shocking. I don’t know if his lawyer gets to reappeal. My heart reaches out to his family. What they must be going through. It just shows one impulsive moment can ruin one’s life. Many rapists and criminals roam free. I feel Shiney paid for being a celebrity.”
Soha Ali Khan who worked with Shiney in Khoya Khoya Chand and the unreleased Accident expressed shock on being told about the verdict. “I am shocked. I can’t even begin to imagine what he and his family must be going through. I don’t know the actual facts. So I can only pray for them to have inner strength. I wish them well.”
Sudhir Mishra who had introduced Shiney to the Hindi cinema in Hazaaron Khawishein Aisi and later gave Shiney his career’s best role in Khoya Khoya Chand, said, “I really shouldn’t be commenting. What can I say? I am numbed. But we can’t get emotional about this. The verdict of the court is unquestionable and I completely believe in it. If the court has found Shiney guilty so be it. It is still unbelievable what has happened to him. I can’t even begin to think what went on in his head. Or how he might do what he is supposed to have done. Because what he More >
Every project is a first-Soha Ali Khan
0The versatile Soha Ali Khan talks about the variety of roles she is doing in 2011
Anjali Muthanna (BOMBAY TIMES; March 26, 2011) She hasn’t been seen on the big screen since the 2009 release Tum Mile, but that doesn’t mean Soha Ali Khan has taken a cinematic hiatus. Her last release was supposed to be Tera Kya Hoga Johny, which has been delayed for more than a year. However, she’s been keeping herself busy shooting for films in “a whole gamut of genres” that she hopes will all release this year. Her next film, Life Goes On…, is very much a family affair and not just because it is a family drama. “This is the first time I’ve worked with my mother (Sharmila Tagore) and perhaps the only time I’ll work with her because she keeps threatening to retire. But I don’t take her seriously in that regard,” Soha tells. The film, which is set in London and is about how an Indian family comes to terms with the loss of the mother (played by Sharmila), will see Soha play a character very much like herself. “It is just me with a British accent. Of course, the fact that my mother plays my mother makes it all the more real. My character, who’s the youngest of three siblings, is also someone who has been very protected and molly-coddled by her father and who is always keen to make her parents proud. She’s very much like me — I have a big desire to make my father proud and it is crippling to me to disappoint him,” explains Soha.
Right now, Soha is working More >
Rituparno Ghosh’s narrow escape
0It was a close call for filmmaker-turned-actor Rituparno Ghosh.
Recently, while shooting for a screen adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s Chitrangada in Kolkata, Rituparno was seriously injured when a camera fell straight on his forehead. Thankfully, he was shooting in a real hospital with real doctors.
A source explains what transpired, “It was a sequence showing Rituda being wheeled into the operation theatre.
Since Rituda is, for the first time, simultaneously directing and playing the lead, he was on the stretcher giving his shot and instructing the cameraman to take close-ups of his face.
This was when the camera fell on his forehead. There was blood all over his face.”
Rituparno was knocked unconscious.
But after a CT-scan, several tests and some stitches, he was declared out of danger.
John Abraham seriously injured on sets of Force
0While shooting for a stunt scene for Force on two moving trains, the actor lost his balance, crash landed on his back
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 10, 2011)
John Abraham is the macho guy of Bollywood. With a sturdy and well worked out body, he can surely be the best pick for a super hero film.
But even he is not infallible. A couple of days ago, the actor had a bad fall while shooting for a stunt scene for Vipul Shah’s production, Force.
The stunt required him to jump from one moving goods train to another. Instead of landing on his feet he lost his balance and fell on his back over a heap of stones.
The actor was severely injured and suffered as many as 40 injury marks on his back. Despite being given an immediate medical attention, John was visibly in discomfort. But the actor braved and finished the shot he was required to.
In December last year too, again while he was shooting for Force, John had a ligament tear and was in excruciating pain.
A source who was present on the sets while John met with the accident, says, “John seems to be getting injured time and again.
Earlier he was injured at Filmcity and now at the Jogeshwari yard. He had a bad fall and his entire back was injured badly and there were injury marks.”
Producer Vipul Shah said, “We were shooting a scene with two moving goods trains. John had to jump from one to another.
Although all the precautions were taken, this is something that can never be controlled. He was More >

Boman injured in an accident
0Acting is not a bed of roses; it has its share of hardships too. On Saturday afternoon, while shooting at a suburban college for Jackky Bhagnani’s relaunch vehicle F.A.L.T.U, Boman Irani accidentally bumped into a glass separation and hurt his head.
Producer Vashu Bhangnani said, “We were sitting down to eat lunch. Boman walked into the clear glass seperator and hurt himself. However, he still completed the shoot.”
He was feeling drowsy after taking heavy antibiotics. The pain however worsened but Boman put up a brave front and left the location only after finishing his bit.
Despite repeated text messages, Boman remained unavailable for comment
