R. Madhavan has been associated with PETA for a while now. For the uninitiated, the actor has been fighting for the cause of protecting animals for a long time. That explains the reason why he sent a letter on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India to David Novak, CEO of KFC parent company ‘Yum! Brands’, urging him to adopt PETA’s recommendations to stop the worst abuses of chickens that are killed for KFC.
Madhavan, in his letter to David, wrote “I am sure you’re a compassionate person who agrees that animals – whether they are dogs, cats or chickens – should not be abused and that working to stop this unnecessary cruelty should be a top priority. Please use your unique position to stop the worst abuses of these sensitive birds by making the improvements suggested by PETA and KFC’s own former animal welfare advisors.”
In the same letter, Madhavan also recounted the findings of a PETA undercover investigation into KFC’s main Indian supplier, Venky’s. PETA’s investigator documented birds who suffered broken limbs and organ failure because of the animals’ unnaturally large size. In the US and elsewhere, birds are bred and drugged to grow much faster than nature intended, and their bodies can’t keep up. The remains of dead birds littered the floor, and survivors were forced to live amidst the corpses. Madhavan also urged Novak to follow the example of KFC Canada, which has become a leader in animal welfare reforms.
Madhavan, apparently, has also appeared in a PETA ad to promote a compassionate vegetarian diet.

The shocking shenanigans of conman Devender Singh, alias Bunty, on the new season of Bigg Boss, comes as no shock to director Dibakar Banerjee who has made a film based on Bunty’s life.
Dibakar feels something was not quite right with Bunty. “I met him in jail for the film very briefly. I couldn’t make head or tail of his behaviour. Later, the jail authorities told me he had a problem with authority.”
Dibakar wonders if the whole thing with Bunty is a publicity stunt. However, a reliable source from the channel confirms that Bunty has been sent packing for good. “There’s no question of his coming back. He has abused and violated the basic rules of the show. He abused the girls and broke the mike and camera. We had to persuade him out of the Bigg Boss house. We offered to send him back home to Delhi. But he refused to take our offer. As far as we are concerned, he’s out of show for good.”
The other school of thought is that Bunty was brought into the Bigg Boss’ house as in-house counterpart to the host Salman Khan.
Hurled four-letter abuses at her for having trespassed his performance of Waiting for Godot. The stage is sacrosanct for the thespian…
During a staging of Waiting For Godot in Bangalore, Naseeruddin Shah lost his cool when a lady landed up on his stage. Our source said, “The play was going on and Naseer and Benjamin Gilani were in the middle of an extremely serious scene.
Randeep Hooda who plays the God was also on the stage. Just then a lady accompanied by an old man landed up straight on the stage. The lady started shouting and complaining that someone had parked a car right outside her house.
Everyone in the audience was shocked about how someone could interrupt a play this way. Naseer completely lost it and was very angry. He started abusing the lady and the audience agreed with him.

Not only Naseer but also a few people from the audience abused the lady, who quickly hurried away from the scene. Naseer abused her with four-letter words and the lady didn’t know what happened.
Naseer always says that the stage is his temple and no one is allowed to enter when he is performing. The audience also agreed that no one has the right to disturb when an actor is performing on the stage.”
When contacted Randeep Hooda, who plays God on the show, said, “Yes such an incident occurred. The lady accompanied by an old man had to face the brunt from everybody.
However the funny part was that no one in the audience got up as they also would have had to face the brunt.
Naseerbhai now jokes about the incident and says that she might be a struggling actor who came for her audition and I might cast her in one of my next plays. However it was really ridiculous and she had her 15 minutes of fame.”

Mumbai: Actress Meghna Naidu, who shot to fame with the Kaliyon Ka Chaman video, has complained to the crime branch that her email account was hacked into on Tuesday. The hacker allegedly tried to malign her by telling her friends on chat that she was pregnant and abused three other actors.
Meghna told TOI that she got suspicious when some of her friends called her up to ask if she was chatting with them at a specific time. “A friend of mine said that he was taken aback when I abused three Bollywood actors on chat and even said that I was pregnant. However, my friends soon realised that my account was hacked and informed me.’’ “The hacker chatted through my account with three of my friends for two hours. These friends are not from Bollywood,’’ she said.
Meghna approached the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) of the crime branch and submitted an application. No FIR has been registered yet. “Three other email accounts, operated by her assistant Dale Bhagwagar, were also hacked into. She said the hacker had changed her password and she was unable to access her account,’’ said inspector Mukund Pawar, in-charge of the CCIC.
The CCIC has written to the US-based email service, asking the company to provide them details about the places this email ID was accessed from in the past few of days and the user’s Internet Protocol (IP) address. The CCIC has not received any response yet.
WHAT THE POLICE WILL DO
After getting IP address details, the cops will contact the Internet Service Provider to get information about the person/user to whom the IP address is allotted
The cops will visit the place the IP address is traced to. They will install a software in the computer to check if it was the one used to hack Meghna’s account. The cops may also take hard disk of Meghna’s PC
On Friday night, during an event at a suburban night club, good friends Aditya Pancholi and Ronit Roy had a heated argument in full public view. Although the reason for their fight is still unknown, they apparently almost came to blows.
A source present at the event said, “Ronit and Aditya were standing at the bar and having an animated conversation. Their voices suddenly went to shouting pitch and they started exchanging abuses. Ronit was so angry that he smashed a glass on the floor. At that point, some people tried to mediate and cool things down. But then they proceeded to the washroom to sort out the matter.
The argument continued late into the night after which both Aditya and Ronit left separately. What transpired between the two is not known but from the look of it, it seems to be a major issue. Had people around not tried to intervene, they would have definitely exchanged blows.”

While Ronit Roy confirmed the altercation, he insisted it was a minor tiff. Ronit said, “It was just an exchange of words. Nothing really happened. I don’t think there was any fist fight and neither did I break any glass. Things are normal between us. He is an old friend and such things happen between friends.”
However, Aditya Pancholi had a different version. He said, “We were just having a discussion about Ronit’s security business. I was with my wife, Zarina, and daughter, Sana, so there is no question of me getting into a fight at all. Ronit has been my friend for the last 18 years and his wife Neelam ties me rakhi.
We just had a session of arm wrestling and everyone put two and two together and assumed we were having a fight. There was no fight and we definitely did not abuse each other.”
However, freelance photographer Ramakant Munde confirmed the story. He said, “ Ronit smashed the glass and also tried to break my camera.”
Producer-director Rahul Rawail’s 24-year-old son Bharat was hit by a speeding tempo on Tuesday evening and was seriously injured. Bharat underwent a surgery yesterday afternoon. Rahul Rawail said, “My son went to Siddhivinayak Temple on Tuesday evening and had parked his car on the road opposite the temple.
After darshan, Rahul was walking towards his car when a tempo overtook another vehicle from the left and accidentally hit my son.
Some bystanders and his colleague rushed him to the hospital. Rahul has injuries all over his body. The good part is that his surgery was successful and he is recuperating now.”

Saying that he was very upset with the manager of the restaurant the tempo belonged to, Rahul Rawail said, “Anir, the restaurant manager, came to meet me at the hospital and requested me not to file a police complaint as it would spoil their reputation. He even offered me money — it was so disgusting.
The simplest thing to do was apologise for what had happened rather than worry about the restaurant’s reputation. He started abusing the tempo driver in front of me. I don’t care. I have filed a police complaint and they are waiting to record my son’s statement. These people should be punished.”
Jayendra Sawant of Dadar Police Station, said, “The driver has surrendered. A case will be filed after the statement is recorded.”
The royalty battle has thrown up a new set of adversaries – Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sonu Nigam traded insults; may never work together again
The committee formed to tackle the royalty issue between the producers and the music fraternity finds that the cause is being sidelined. After the much talked about face-off between Javed Akhtar and Aamir Khan, they’re dealing with another war of words between Sonu Nigam and Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Apparently, they got into a heated debate and Vidhu abused Sonu, who in turn retaliated spiritedly. Some members of the committee had to intervene to settle the fallout.
Our source said, “Sonu proposed that the producer should keep 50 per cent of the royalties, while the music director and the singer should keep 25 per cent each. Vidhu disagreed and stated that the music directors or singers should take on the losses as well. When Sonu stuck to his guns at the meeting held at a suburban five star, Vidhu lost his cool and abused him. He told Sonu to ‘f*** off’, and a shocked Sonu was visibly upset. He told Vidhu to mind his language.
An incensed Vidhu said that Sonu is making so much money and most of his songs are from his (Vidhu’s) films, so he should give some of the amount to him. Finally, Vidhu said that he will not work with Sonu. The singer shot back that it is entirely Vidhu’s loss. The matter wouldn’t have ended there had Madhur Bhandarkar and Ken Ghosh not intervened.”
Sonu Nigam gave us his side of the story. He said, “We are not supposed to talk about what has happened, but since you called, I do not wish to negate it. Vidhu got a little excited and he has the habit of speaking in that manner. I don’t want to hold it against him as I have heard worse abuses from Vidhu. All I can say is that main saste mein chhoot gaya.”
When asked about his reaction to Vidhu’s decision about not working with him again, Sonu said, “That’s my decision completely. I know that I am a good singer and no one is doing a favour to anyone. Yahan koi kissi ko banata nahin hai. We all are students of this art and if someone does not want to acknowledge anyone’s work, it’s their problem.” Sonu finally added, “After the meeting, he came up to me and the matter got resolved. Vidhu is known to be like this and uske moonh se gaali nikal gayee, toh humne bhi de diya jawab. However, he is known for this, so I won’t hold it against him.”
Vidhu Vinod Chopra remained unavailable for comment.
Adnan Sami created a ruckus at Ken Ghosh’s trial show of Chance Pe Dance at a suburban multiplex yesterday evening. Sami came drunk for the 6pm show, got into an ugly verbal spat. Eventually the police had to be called to take control of the situation.
Our source present at the trial show said, “Sami was sloshed when he reached the theatre. Just after the second half began, Sami apparently put his legs up on the seat in front, disturbing the young boy sitting ahead. The annoyed young man asked him to sit straight. The drama continued for some time till the two got into an ugly war of words. Both the parties started abusing each other. The boy happened to be ACP Sonawane’s son and he immediately called the cops to look in to the matter. The cops arrived and waited for the film to end. Once Sami came out, they confronted him. A sloshed Adnan was let off with a warning. After that, when the boy reached the parking lot, Adnan confronted him and they got into a fight again. The cops arrived on the scene again when they learnt about the fight.”
While going to print, a huge argument was still raging between the cops, the boy and Adnan.
Ken Ghosh, the director of Chance Pe Dance, said, “I had left even before Adnan came to watch the film as I had one more trial show at Ketnav in Bandra. However, my production guys present there just informed me about the ruckus. I believe he got into a fight over keeping his legs on the chair which seated a cop’s son. I am yet to get all the information as I am attending to my guests here at Ketnav.”
When asked what he will do now, Ken said, “I don’t know. I guess I will have to apologise to the concerned people.”
