Will Aaradhya Bachchan walk the red carpet at Cannes?

0

Asira Tarannum (MID-DAY; May 10, 2013)

Cannes and the Bachchans have become synonymous with each other. This year more so, thanks to The Great Gatsby and Amitabh Bachchan’s role in it. So we hear the entire Bachchan clan will be on the red carpet at the French Riviera this year. And yes, the latest addition to the family, Aradhya Bachchan, will also be part of the entourage. However, papa Abhishek will not be there as he is shooting for Dhoom 3.

By now we know that Ash is a hands-on mum. Though she never takes Aaradhya on the sets, she ensures that the tot is taken care of. Most of the times along with her nanny, Aishwarya’s mother Vrinda also travels with her.

Last year, Aaradhya was barely five months old when the Cannes film festival happened so we couldn’t see her by mommy Ash’s side but now that Aaradhya is 17-months-old and has already travelled to Vancouver with her mom, we hope to see her on the red carpet in Cannes.

A source reveals that Aishwarya is keen to show Aaradhya around in the French city and if possible take her to the fest too. Will Ash be taking her doting daughter to the red carpet is the big question!

A fashionable tot on the red carpet: As Aishwarya’s style on the red carpet in Cannes has always been the fodder of much speculation, Aaradhya too will be a star kid to watch out for if she walks with mommy. The toddler seems to be already becoming a kind of style icon as she was earlier spotted with animal print pants and boots with fur.

16 month old Aaradhya Bachchan recites gayatri mantra fluently

Aaradhya Bachchan may well be India’s most famous baby. The papparazzi fall over each other to snap up her pictures. She has been featured in every newspaper and magazine in the country. Every bit of information about Aishwarya and Abhishek’s first-born is lapped up by the Bachchan fans, and same goes for the couple’s friends.

Now all new mommies can’t stop talking about their babies, and Aishwarya is no different. The proud mommy Ash was heard gushing to a group of people at a recent party how her 16-month-old baby can not only recite numbers from 1-10 and spout alphabets from A to Z, but she can also recite the entire Gayatri Mantra fluently, which lets face it, not even most adults can! Says a source, “At the party thrown in honour of Steven Spielberg last week Aishwarya was asked about her baby and when one guest asked her if she was talking already, now that she was one, Ash told her proudly how her little girl could recite the Gayatri Mantra fluently.”

The actress-turned-full-time mother spends all her time with Aradhaya and the little one also travels with her everywhere. In the last one year, she has travelled from Dubai to New York (for her United Nations work) and Bangkok and even Paris. Whether it is at home, on the aircraft or in the hotel room, Ash keeps talking to her baby and teaches her things. Aaradhya is very bright and picks up things quite fast. Grandparents, Amitabh and Jaya, never tire about talking about little More >

On his recent trip to Bhopal, Amitabh Bachchan had a special treat lined up for his granddaughter Aaradhya. He hired a chartered flight on Thursday to ferry Beti B to Jaya’s hometown. Aaradhya met her grandmum’s folk who reside in the City of Lakes.

A source says, “Bachchanji is in Bhopal to shoot for Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha. Along with Abhishek, Ash and Aaradhya, he reached the city around noon and went straight to Ansal Apartments where Jaya’s ailing mother Indira Bhaduri stays.” Jaya however was not accompanying them.

Post the trip, Junior B, Ash and Aaradhya took the chartered flight back to Mumbai the same evening.

Big B’s timetable

Bachchan preferred to stick to a light dinner with dal soup. He hit the gym yesterday morning at 6.30 and left for Bisenkhedi for the shoot. The first shot of the film started with an agitation sequence with Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor.

Abhishek Bachchan is the hotline to reach Aishwarya?

BOMBAY TIMES (February 5, 2013)

It’s not as if Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is not very good when it comes to replying to text messages. There’s a reason for the delay in her communication. A source says that even if the phone is lying around when she’s home, all her attention is on Aaradhya. She often forgets to check on the calls and messages. And by the time she gets around to replying, it is too late. Of course, those who need to reach her urgently have devised an easier way to do so. They call Abhishek Bachchan and we are told that he ensures that the missus gets the messages promptly.

Yet again, Abhishek Bachchan set to have a working birthday

Last year Abhishek Bachchan was in Wai on his birthday, shooting for Bol Bachchan — the action-comedy that got him an entry into the Rs 100 crore club. And this year too, the actor seems to be in no mood to take a break for his birthday. This time, keeping him busy for the day will be the action thriller Dhoom 3. Though the actor’s hectic schedules will keep him away from home for most part of the day, insiders insist that he’s not complaining about having to work on his birthday. “Abhishek loves his work, so though some people on the production team were sceptical about making him work on his birthday, the others knew that he wouldn’t mind that, at all. When we informed Abhishek about the schedule, we were proved right, he didn’t complain even once nor did he ask for any changes. However, we feel that the team may be planning a surprise bash for him,” reveals a source.

Abhishek personally doesn’t enjoy partying on his birthday, and prefers to have a low-key affair with family and friends. He will spend the evening with wife, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya along with his parents and a few friends. “As of now, apart from a dinner nothing lavish has been planned,” says another source, adding that a break of two-three days with family later on cannot be ruled out.

Currently, Abhishek is said to be thrilled about the action outing that sees him reprise the role of Jai Dixit. Interestingly, he and co-star Uday More >

Odd for me at this age to hit nightclubs with Abhishek-Amitabh Bachchan

Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; February 3, 2013)

At 70, Amitabh Bachchan’s film and social diary is jam-packed. Indian cinema’s biggest icon, who has just wrapped up the sixth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), barely has time to take a breather as five films with celebrated filmmakers await him. Excerpts of a brief conversation with Big B…

Is there a void now that this season of KBC has wrapped up? One always misses KBC because it gives me great joy to meet different kinds of people. I’m eagerly waiting for the next season. One tends to get involved with the people who come on the hot seat. Now, I’ve got film shootings beginning in a week’s time. Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha will be the first to go on the floors. It has Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Arjun Rampal and me. I like Prakashji’s cinema. He makes films that deal with topics that have some social or moral standing.

Are you playing Anna Hazare in the film? No. I’m not playing Anna Hazare. I play a man of principles who fights for rights.

Which are the other films that you will do in 2013? There is a host of other films that I need to just programme. There is Sudhir Mishra’s Mehrunissa, Bhoothnath-2, R Balki’s film, Sujoy Ghosh’s film and then there is television. Yes, there will be the next season of the game show.

Mehrunissa is a love story. Does it feel good that makers are writing love stories for you even at this age? Mehrunissa is not a love story in the traditional sense. This is all I can say. More >

I don’t understand the national obsession with Aaradhya-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Soumitra Das (BOMBAY TIMES; December 12, 2012)

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was in Gujarat to campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Apart from speaking about her affinity for Gujarat she also spoke about her daughter.

“I feel like I know about every little aspect of motherhood already. I feel blessed to have Aaradhya in our lives. However, I don’t quite understand the obsession about her and it’s amusing when people ask me what we want her to become once she grows up. Arre, she is just one year old! Let her experience life and enjoy her growing up years! As a mother, I look at my parents for inspiration. If I can do even half of what they did for me, I will be a supermom,” she said.

Quiz her about when she will be seen on the big screen again, and she smiles, “Things don’t happen overnight in Bollywood. I am already listening to scripts and the moment I feel I have zeroed in on the right one, I will return to work. However, I find the term ‘comeback’ really fascinating! I became a mother and wasn’t it natural that I would take a break from work?”

Taking a retrospective look at her life, she sounds a little philosophical, “In life, change is the only constant. I have been through different phases too, like marriage, motherhood and so on. With every new experience, there is growth and discovery. I feel blessed for the life that I lead, to have such fantastic parents, husband and in-laws. It’s humbling that the people of this country have showered all of us with such love More >

Ajay Devgn takes his family for a holiday after wrapping up the release of his latest film

Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; November 17, 2012)

It’s work hard, party harder for Ajay Devgn. No wonder that close on the heels of the release of his much- talked about film Son Of Sardaar, Devgn has taken his wife Kajol, their kids Nysa and Yug and his parents to Goa for a holiday.

A source close to the family says, “Devgn is very thrilled that his film has managed to bring in large crowds in spite of a stiff opposition from Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which had 500 more theatres to boast of. It has managed to turn out as his biggest opening ever in many centres and he felt that he has achieved what he had set out for. Devgn had been very busy and tired with the film’s promotions and court cases.” The actor is said to be put up at a hotel in Goa and is apparently keeping a check on his film’s collections from there.

The source adds, “He plans to return by Monday.” There is buzz there could be a success party for the film soon thereafter.

Aaradhya Bachchan to have a quiet first birthday

0

Sneha Mahadevan (BOMBAY TIMES; November 16, 2012)

Aaradhya Bachchan, who turns a year today, will reportedly be celebrating her birthday with just her family. Much has been spoken about the baby’s first birthday bash being planned but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan confirmed that it would be a quiet celebration at home. She said, “Time just flies and now she (Aaradhya) will turn one year old. For Aaradhya’s first Diwali, we had both friends and family at our place but for her first birthday, we plan to keep it a private and family affair. It will be with family and my parents.”

Abhishek Bachchan said that first birthdays are usually more special for mothers since they spend much more time with the babies. On being asked about her comeback to films, Ash said that she was glad people wanted to see her on screen, but she hadn’t planned anything as yet.

Big B talks about his granddaughter Aaradhya keeping him on his toes and an international milestone that he has set his heart upon

Jayoti Soor (DNA; November 9, 2012)

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has achieved what many people only dream of — being sought after in films as well as on television even at the ripe age of 70. In an exclusive chat with After Hrs, he shared the joy the birth of the youngest member in the Bachchan household has brought him and what are the milestones that he still has to achieve.

"This is not the first time that I have become a grandfather as my daughter Shweta has two kids, so the joy is equal,” says AB. “But nowadays, I am always in a hurry to rush back home and spend some quality time with Aaradhya. It is always great fun and I love to play childish games with her,” he adds. It appeared that Big B was in a rush to wind up the interview and head home to the gleeful greetings of Aaradhya who seems to have wrapped her grandfather around her little finger.

And yes, Bachchan will finally make his Hollywood debut in Baz Luhrmann’s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby. But he seems to be a bit disappointed with the duration of his cameo appearance. “In The Great Gatsby I will come and go as I have a small role,” he says. The superstar fondly recalls how the Hollywood director spotted him in a village poster. “Baz Luhrmann had come to tour India on a motorcycle and expressed a desire to see me. I think he had seen a poster of Sholay in a village. About a More >
